Dr. Payne is presently a member of a multicultural church in Maryland where she has developed a ministry to provide support for those experiencing domestic violence. She is a member of the Maryland Network Against Domestic Violence, and each year attends informational meetings given by The Interfaith Domestic Violence Coalition of Maryland.
