Book Synopsis Transport Properties of Organic Liquids by : G. Latini
Download or read book Transport Properties of Organic Liquids written by G. Latini and published by WIT Press. This book was released on 2006 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The liquid state is possibly the most difficult and intriguing state of matter to model. Organic liquids are required, mainly as working fluids, in almost all industrial activities and in most appliances (e.g. in air conditioning). Transport properties (namely dynamic viscosity and thermal conductivity) are possibly the most important properties for the design of devices and appliances. Most theoretical studies on the liquid state date back to the Fifties however huge advances in experimental studies and applied research on heat and mass transfer in liquids have been achieved during past decades. Most of the models cannot rely on theory alone and are empirical, while for most organic liquids, only a few experimental points and empirical correlations are available in literature. The aim of this book is to present both theoretical approaches and the latest experimental advances on the issue, and to merge them into a wider approach. The book is organised into five chapters. The first chapter presents our theoretical knowledge of the liquid state. The second presents the tentative models for the evaluation of the thermal conductivity of organic liquids and confronts their results with the experimental data available in literature. The third presents the tentative models for the evaluation of the dynamic viscosity of organic liquids and confronts their results with the experimental data available in literature. The fourth presents a deeper review of the choice methods for thermal conductivity and their applications to mixtures of organic liquids and the fifth chapter presents a deeper review of the choice methods for dynamic viscosity and their applications to mixtures of organic liquids.

Book Synopsis Selected papers of the "1st International Conference on Nanofluids (ICNf)" by : Patrice Estellé
Download or read book Selected papers of the "1st International Conference on Nanofluids (ICNf)" written by Patrice Estellé and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2020-12-10 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Special Issue of Energies has emerged as a result of the 1st International Conference on Nanofluids (https://icnf2019.com/), which was organized under the auspices of Nanouptake COST Action (Overcoming Barriers to Nanofluids Market Uptake, http://www.nanouptake.eu/) in Castelló (Spain), in June 2019. The foci of ICNf2019 were the production and the characterisation of nanofluids for different areas of applications in the energy fields, namely heat transfer, storage of thermal energy, boiling, and solar systems, as well as industrial applications and health and safety issues. The first conference edition on this topic gathered more than 200 participants from 45 different countries. More than 125 contributions were presented in the nine sections of the congress. Some selected authors were invited to send extended versions of their work to the Energies ICNf2019 Special Issue. After a careful review process, nine articles from six different countries were selected for compilation in this Special Issue: a total of seven full research papers and two reviews. These papers cover a broad range of fundamental and applied research aspects on nanofluid science and development, and reflect the current investigations, knowledge, and challenges encountered in the use of nanofluids for energy applications.

Book Synopsis Progress in International Research on Thermodynamic and Transport Properties by : Eric F. Lype
Download or read book Progress in International Research on Thermodynamic and Transport Properties written by Eric F. Lype and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 773 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Progress in International Research on Thermodynamic and Transport Properties covers the proceedings of the 1962 Second Symposium by the same title, held at Purdue University and the Thermophysical Properties Research Center. This symposium brings together theoretical and experimental research works on the thermodynamic and transport properties of gases, liquids, and solids. This text is organized into nine parts encompassing 68 chapters that cover topics from thixotropy to molecular orbital calculations. The first three parts review papers on theoretical, experimental, and computational studies of the various aspects of thermodynamic properties. These parts discuss the principles of phase equilibria, throttling, volume heat capacity, steam, volumetric behavior, enthalpy, and density. The subsequent part highlights the theoretical evaluations of transport properties, such as viscosity, diffusion, and conductivity, as well as the transport processes. These topics are followed by surveys of the theories in intermolecular forces and their applications. Other parts consider the measurement of thermal conductivity, viscosity, and radiation. The final parts examine the properties of ionized gases and non-Newtonian fluids. This book will prove useful to mechanical and chemical engineers.
