This book was released on 1990 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: CETTE THESE EST UNE CONTRIBUTION A L'ETUDE DE L'OXYDATION PLASMA DU SILICIUM ET DU NETTOYAGE DE SURFACES DE SEMI-CONDUCTEURS (SI, GAAS, INP) EN PLASMAS D'HYDROGENE. LES MODIFICATIONS PHYSICO-CHIMIQUES DES SURFACES SONT SUIVIES PAR SPECTROSCOPIES D'ELECTRONS AUGER ET DE PERTE D'ENERGIE. LES PROPRIETES ELECTRIQUES DES MATERIAUX TRAITES SONT ANALYSEES PAR L'INTERMEDIAIRE DES CAPACITES M.O.S.-TUNNEL OU DE DIODES SCHOTTKY. IL EST MONTRE DANS UNE PREMIERE PARTIE QUE, DANS DES CONDITIONS IDENTIQUES, UNE SURFACE DE SI IRRADIEE PAR DES IONS ARGON DE BASSE ENERGIE (15 EV-80 EV) S'OXYDE SELON UN PROCESSUS SIMILAIRE A CELUI D'UNE OXYDATION SOUS IRRADIATION ELECTRONIQUE (PRECEDEMENT ANALYSEE DANS LE CADRE DE LA THEORIE DE MOTT SUR L'OXYDATION BASSE TEMPERATURE DES METAUX). CONJOINTEMENT, UN PIC D'ETATS D'INTERFACE DONT L'AMPLITUDE CROIT AVEC L'ENERGIE DES IONS EST MIS EN EVIDENCE DANS LA PARTIE SUPERIEURE DE LA BANDE INTERDITE. DANS LA SECONDE PARTIE, L'ANALYSE AUGER DES SURFACES EN FONCTION DE LA DUREE D'EXPOSITION A UN FAISCEAU D'IONS H#2#+ MONTRE QUE LES PROCESSUS CHIMIQUES (FORMATION D'HYDRURES) PREDOMINENT. CECI EST PARTICULIEREMENT VERIFIE EN CE QUI CONCERNE LES COMPOSES III-V, POUR LESQUELS IL EST MONTRE QUE LA REACTION DE REDUCTION S'ARRETE SUR UN PLAN DE L'ELEMENT III (GA, IN). LES RUGOSITES DE SURFACE N'EVOLUENT PAS DE MANIERE SENSIBLE AU COURS DE L'IRRADIATION. LE CAS DE GAAS POSSEDE LA PARTICULARITE SUIVANTE: AU COURS D'UNE IRRADIATION A TEMPERATURE AMBIANTE, LE TAUX DE COUVERTURE EN OXYGENE PRESENTE UN MINIMUM. CE PHENOMENE EST INTERPRETE PAR UNE PLUS GRANDE REACTIVITE VIS-A-VIS DE H#2O D'UNE SURFACE HYDROGENEE PAR RAPPORT A UNE SURFACE NUE. L'ANALYSE DE DIODES SCHOTTKY ELABOREES SUR DES ECHANTILLONS DESOXYDES PAR DES IONS H#2#+ MONTRE D'IMPORTANTES MODIFICATIONS DES PROPRIETES ELECTRIQUES DES MATERIAUX TRAITES

Book Synopsis Photostabilization of Polymers by : J.F. Rabek
Download or read book Photostabilization of Polymers written by J.F. Rabek and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 607 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the last two decades, the production of polymers and plastics has been increasing rapidly. In spite of developing new polymers and polymeric materials, only 40-60 are used commercially on a large scale. It has been estimated that half of the annual production of polymers is employed outdoors. Increasing the stability of polymers and plastics towards heat, light, atmospheric oxygen and other environmental agents and weathering conditions has always been a very important problem. The photochemical instability of most of polymers limits them to outdoor application, where they are photo degraded fast over periods ranging from months to a few years. To the despair of technologists and consumers alike, photodegrada tion and environmental ageing of polymers occur much faster than can be expected from knowledge collected in laboratories. In many cases, improved methods of preparation and purification of both monomers and polymers yield products of better quality and higher resistance to heat and light. However, without stabilization of polymers by applica tion of antioxidants (to decrease thermal oxidative degradation) and photostabilizers (to decrease photo-oxidative degradation) it would be impossible to employ polymers and plastics in everyday use.

Book Synopsis Nanomaterials For Energy Conversion And Storage by : Dunwei Wang
Download or read book Nanomaterials For Energy Conversion And Storage written by Dunwei Wang and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2017-11-10 with total page 836 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The use of nanomaterials in energy conversion and storage represents an opportunity to improve the performance, density and ease of transportation in renewable resources. This book looks at the most recent research on the topic, with particular focus on artificial photosynthesis and lithium-ion batteries as the most promising technologies to date. Research on the broad subject of energy conversion and storage calls for expertise from a wide range of backgrounds, from the most fundamental perspectives of the key catalytic processes at the molecular level to device scale engineering and optimization. Although the nature of the processes dictates that electrochemistry is a primary characterization tool, due attention is given to advanced techniques such as synchrotron studies in operando. These studies look at the gap between the performance of current technology and what is needed for the future, for example how to improve on the lithium-ion battery and to go beyond its capabilities.Suitable for students and practitioners in the chemical, electrochemical, and environmental sciences, Nanomaterials for Energy Conversion and Storage provides the information needed to find scalable, economically viable and safe solutions for sustainable energy.

Book Synopsis Faecal Sludge Management by : Linda Strande
Download or read book Faecal Sludge Management written by Linda Strande and published by IWA Publishing. This book was released on 2014-08-15 with total page 428 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is estimated that literally billions of residents in urban and peri-urban areas of Africa, Asia, and Latin America are served by onsite sanitation systems (e.g. various types of latrines and septic tanks). Until recently, the management of faecal sludge from these onsite systems has been grossly neglected, partially as a result of them being considered temporary solutions until sewer-based systems could be implemented. However, the perception of onsite or decentralized sanitation technologies for urban areas is gradually changing, and is increasingly being considered as long-term, sustainable options in urban areas, especially in low- and middle-income countries that lack sewer infrastructures. This is the first book dedicated to faecal sludge management. It compiles the current state of knowledge of the rapidly evolving field of faecal sludge management, and presents an integrated approach that includes technology, management, and planning based on Sandecs 20 years of experience in the field. Faecal Sludge Management: Systems Approach for Implementation and Operation addresses the organization of the entire faecal sludge management service chain, from the collection and transport of sludge, and the current state of knowledge of treatment options, to the final end use or disposal of treated sludge. The book also presents important factors to consider when evaluating and upscaling new treatment technology options. The book is designed for undergraduate and graduate students, and engineers and practitioners in the field who have some basic knowledge of environmental and/or wastewater engineering.
