Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The material for the book is based on the four large caves at Musambura, Northeast of HARARE with a comparison material from the other large caves and boulders in Zimbabwe. It reassesses half a century of research on cave art in the country and presents a new approach for the interpretation of the old images. The high pic photographic material consists of 186 high pic images subjected to various imaging software. The approach is based on the Cosmology of the San as expressed in the large and majestic caves. It enables a more sophisticated analysis than earlier by stratification of the material into traditions and periods: - The Ancient San, from the last Ice Age to the Humid Period - The San, from the End of the Humid Period until the arrival of the Early BaNtu - The Late San from the arrival of the Early BaNtu until the Demise of the Late San and - The Demise of the Late San The analysis discusses and revises several assumptions and interpretations of earlier cave art contributions especially professor Peter Garlake as well as the contemporary contributions from New Animism (Descola, Harvey, Willerslev). The results of the book are used in the local conservation efforts by public authorities in Zimbabwe.

A task force spearheaded by Lt. Cmdr. Shaila Jain is scrambling to beat them there while simultaneously trying to save crewmember Stephane Durand, who was infected during the mission to Saturn and is now controlled by a form of life intent on reopening a transdimensional rift and destroying the human race. But Jain doesn't realize that the possessed Stephane has bigger plans, beaming critical data to other conspirators suspiciously heading not for Earth, but for Venus... In 1809-a Napoleonic era far different from our own-the French have occupied England with their Corps Eternélle, undead soldiers risen through the darkest Alchemy. Only the actions of Lord Admiral Thomas Weatherby and the Royal Navy have kept the French contained to Earth. But the machinations of old enemies point to a bold and daring gambit: an ancient weapon, presumed lost in the jungles of Venus. Now, Weatherby must choose whether to stay and fight to retake his homeland or pursue the French to the green planet. And Shaila must decide if it's possible to save the man she loves, or if he must be sacrificed for the good of two dimensions. In the dark, alien jungles of Venus, humanity's fate in both dimensions hangs in the balance-forcing past and present to once again join forces against an ancient terror.

Now captain of the seventy-four-gun Fortitude, Weatherby helps destroy the French fleet at the Nile and must chase an escaped French ship from Egypt to Saturn, home of the enigmatic and increasingly unstable aliens who call themselves the Xan. Meanwhile, in Egypt, alchemist Andrew Finch has ingratiated himself with Napoleon's forces . . . and finds the true, horrible reason why the French invaded Egypt in the first place.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book disturbs the 'normal' and depoliticized meaning of virtue through a genealogical reading of the debates, conceptual struggles, and ambiguities that were cleansed by virtue ethicists to produce today's conception of excellence. This approach provides the narrative raw material to craft a new meaning of excellence as a creative actualization of the potentials for human prosperity. The fundamental question asked and addressed about excellence is how communities can use excellence as the organizing principle for political and economic development. The author explores how large-scale modern societies can be better administered in environments characterized by contingency and possibilities. At the very least, excellence in societal governance practice should involve the creation of possibilities for community and participation by all its members so that their potentialities can be drawn out for the common good. The book also explores the connection between excellence and creativity. If excellence is the drive toward actualization of potentialities for all human beings, it follows that human creativity is an adequate form for that movement. The author not only attempts to trace and clarify the mystique of the creative functions of persons and social groups, but also shows how the creative functions of human life can express the unconditional eros of divine creativity. In the process of doing all this, the author offers a fresh and provocative perspective of philosophy and theology's oldest concerns: the good, truth, beauty, justice, love, hope, and the eschatological New Creation.

Book excerpt: It seems like every day humankind has a new problem to face. If we are honest about it, we as a group are responsible for many of those problems. Most of us are fairly intelligent, but as a collective—well—there may be a tendency to act less than intelligently. It doesn’t have to be that way. Author Luc Goulet presents his plan for the positive evolution of humankind in his book, The Big Bang Project: Creating Humanity’s Best-Case Scenario. The author shares humankind’s most important failures and presents concrete solutions to many of our problems. The project’s unique approach analyzes how we can best evolve as individuals and as a society, and how we can best use democracy and capitalism to the betterment of all. A bonus chapter on religious peace is enlightening and, according to the Author, will likely change how you look at religious conflict. Positive evolution is only possible if we take a step back and recognize that many things must really change. Then the fun part is trying to reinvent ourselves! The Big Bang Project: Creating Humanity’s Best-Case Scenario offers a blueprint to let the best of mankind prevail!

Book excerpt: Casey, Theodore Cranston Randall Monterey, who prefers to be called EDY lives for ‘jack’. Adopted on his thirty-fourth day of life, EDY seeks revenge for the injustice that he believes has been wrongfully delivered through his adoption. Striving to avenge the injustice his untoward lifestyle eventually leads him to Bread Man. Through a restorative justice mentorship program EDY is assigned to ride shotgun in Bastien Fergus Hunt’s bread wagon for 16 weeks. EDY defiantly accepts his 16-week assignment with no intention of accepting the tutelage of Bread Man. A middle-aged man and a defiant youth navigate the daily 10-hour sojourn through a rural community, delivering bread to fourteen communities. Guarded, defiant and angry EDY is confident he can navigate the 16-week punishment with minimal engagement, so that he may return to his free-wheeling self-absorbed lifestyle. Bread man, on the other hand, is not easily provoked or irritated. Through strained conversations, they eventually discover they share similar journeys. The Bread Wagon serves as a space where a mentor and reluctant learner eventually uncover their shared angst.
