Lexi worked her way through an undergraduate degree and then a law degree and landed her dream job as a prosecutor in the Carroll County District Attorney's Office elite Major Crimes Division. Well on her way to becoming the prosecutor of the division, Lexi was also being groomed by her friend and mentor, Samuel Mahoney, to take over as his position as chief of the illustrious division. Lexi slowly realized, though, she was thwarting someone else's plans to do the same. Stefon Abraham, an attorney in the bad check unit, has longed to be a member of the Major Crimes Division and dreams of eventually taking over as chief one day until Mahoney hires the likes of Lexi Gordon. Stefon, in his self-declared war against Lexi, enlists Lexi's naive assistant, Emma Naylor, as one of his weapons of destruction. Little does Lexi know that Stefon is willing to stop at nothing in his quest to take over the Major Crimes Division. While Lexi continues to be groomed to become the chief of the division, Stefon stalks, harasses, and plots in an attempt to make Lexi's life at the Carroll County District Attorney's Office a living hell, hoping to make her quit or, better yet, get terminated. Stefon enlists the help of Melanie Price, the newly appointed district attorney in his war when he convinces her the case of serial killer Lenora Becker, which Lexi is prosecuting, needs to be sent back to the state attorney general's office. When the newly appointed district attorney is murdered, Stefon pounces on the opportunity to finally get rid of Lexi by putting her in the fight of her life. Lexi is accused and tried for the brutal slaying of Melanie Price. In a strange twist of events, while Lexi is housed at the Carroll County Jail while awaiting and during her trial, she is befriended by none other than serial killer Lenora Becker, who is housed in the cell next to Lexi's. Despite a valiant effort to defend Lexi, it soon becomes apparent to Lexi's best friend and top defense attorney, Shawn Murphy, that Lexi has been set up to take the fall for Melanie Price's murder. Lexi is convicted and sentenced to death by lethal injection. Lexi and Lenora meet up again while on death row, creating an unlikely alliance between the two. Prior to her own execution, Lenora Becker vows to help Lexi, whom she believes, along with Shawn, to be wrongly convicted, be set free. Lenora enlists the help of an old childhood friend, Maximus Williams, who uncovers the truth about the prosecution and conviction of Alexis Gordon.

Book excerpt: Imagine being a nineteen-year-old young man in New York City in the late 1960s, revered by peers as a charismatic leader and simultaneously serving as the rock of your family. Imagine being that same young man, voluntarily enlisting in the Marines during an American era in which countless young men fear getting drafted into the armed forces and going off to war in a distant, largely unknown land. Now imagine landing in South Vietnam--roughly one year after graduating from high school--during the turbulent, bloody times of late 1967-early 1968 and being called upon to be a steadying influence amongst your brother Marines while trying like hell to survive amidst the maddening chaos of war, one second at a time. Finally, imagine serving as a leader amongst legions of young men whose mantra is LEAVE NO MAN BEHIND while you write letters to your older sister--your best friend--back home, who is counting on you to serve as the best man at her wedding in the summer of 1968. Imagine that this is all before you assume the mantle as the unquestioned leader of the next generation of your family. "A Saint's Letters from the Depths of Hell" is the compelling story of United States Marine Vincent (Vinnie) Benore "Saint" Santaniello, based on the dozens of letters that he wrote to his older sister and absolute best friend, Lilly Santaniello; accounts shared by both family friends and brother Marines in Vietnam; and the imagination of his oldest surviving nephew. It is also the touching story of a nineteen-year-old kid who loves his family tremendously and yearns to get back to the simple pleasures of life: calling his beloved sister silly names; likely marrying his high-school sweetheart, Roe; and resuming his role as the rock of the Santaniello family. This is a memoir of undying love and loyalty, as seen through the conflicting prisms of war and family. This book is an innovative love story, juxtaposed against a backdrop of typical teenaged hijinks that are repeatedly curtailed by the terrifying reality of a bloody, unforgiving war. It is a compelling story of a young leader who would lay down his life for the sake of his brother Marines while simultaneously striving to survive a merciless war and return home to his family. This touching memoir will leave you loving Vinnie, both as a brother Marine and baby brother, as you live vicariously through the love of his tender letters to Lilly. You will be taken on an unforgettable journey through the eyes of a young hero and you will experience the trepidation and anxiety of trying like hell to survive hell and make it back home, against all odds.

Book excerpt: After the fall of the Republic of Vietnam to North Communists, hundreds of thousands of South Vietnamese officers were detained in the so-called re-education camps of which about 80 to 100 thousand men and women died of starvation, illness, executions, exhausted by hard labor... The author had endured nearly ten years in the camp. This book is to describe how the author and his comrades-in arms had gone through the torture, starvation while their families suffered discrimination, persecution, humiliation, and fear in the changing society. In this book, the readers will find the good vs the bad, the eagles vs the chickens. It also reveals how the prisoners could survive the hardship without giving up hope.

It foretells his downfalls and his uprise and the belief in the Superior Being. And it gives an encounter of ones life that faces vast challenges in his life, one such as an outer-body experience. It also depicts if you follow the golden rule, which the Lord has designed for you and me; you can succeed in life.

Believing sneaks into my soul while my head is saying, 'My God, where were you when I needed you?'" Lewis Smedes does not explain away pain or deny that things get bad and that life is hard. Instead he helps us move beyond a disheartening present by being open to God and the certainty that things are, somehow, fundamentally right. This book is about grace. Grace is the courage to go on believing in the presence of suffering and death. This is real believing, not just the intellectual kind. "The thinking part is not all that hard. IT is the feeling part that comes hard, the part that lets you know in the deep places of your soul that it is all right even when your head tells you everything is ghastly."

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When the wicked have traveled a course of sin, and discover they have reason to fear the God;s judgement and wrath for their sins, they begin to wish there is no God to punish them, then by degrees they persuade themselves there is no God, and then they set themselves to study the arguments to support their opinion. This excellent book by John Bunyan covers the subject matter of the existence of heaven and hell as well as studies and dispells the arguments presented by sinners who argue there is no heaven and hell. Most do not know that Bunyan wrote some 60 books, and poetry too. And also almost a well-kept secret is that his doctrine was so biblically laced that many good men would call him too severe. He believed in, and taught, ALL the doctrines of grace, including double-predestination, or reprobation. Why then is he not smeared with the name of hyper-Calvinist like Goodwin, Gill, and others? I guess the same people ought to call Luther a hyper-Lutheran, for he believed and taught it, too. Why begin a review of Bunyan's writings with such a view of his doctrine? It is to show that a Pilgrim's Progress can come only from someone who believes and teaches ALL the counsel of God, without flinching, yea, with loving-kindness. Illegally, He sat in a jail cell over a river for 12 years with his Bible, Galatians by Luther, and another book or two. He had the choice of feeling miserable and murmuring, or of filling his time, thoughts, and energies with studying that Bible, and seeking a way to be of help to his more comfortable, but less dedicated, brothers and sisters. Listen, dear saints, you can't do any better than reading Bunyan. Like Gurnall, he covers everything here and there, and with a sweetness that can come only from God. What a shame that his large heart should be encased in such small print. But, like digging gold, it is worth the time and trouble to dig spiritual gold. Bunyan (1628-1688) rose from an humble beginning to being a preacher to a little house church, to 12 years in jail because he would not agree to quit preaching, to a huge church in London. He wrote 66 books, nearly all while in jail.

Book excerpt: -They say Angels are unbreakable- Their ethereal forms impervious to the ravages of time and mortal strife. But what they fail to understand is that it is not their celestial bodies that defy destruction—it is their unwavering resolve, their unyielding hearts, and their boundless love that render them invincible. In the celestial tapestry, where light and shadow weave intricate patterns, angels tread a delicate balance. Their wings bear the weight of cosmic secrets, their eyes witness both creation and decay. And when love blossoms among the stars, it becomes a force that transcends realms—a beacon that pierces even the darkest abyss. Xavier, once an angel of unwavering devotion, dared to love beyond the boundaries set by heaven. His heart, once pure, became entangled in a web spun by the king of lies himself. For me, he bartered more than he could ever imagine—a pact that would echo through eternity. But as I sit here, imprisoned in this realm of despair, I question. Lucifer’s claim to me is tenuous at best, like a house of cards waiting for the slightest breath to knock it down. His right to keep me here, to use me as a pawn in his never-ending games of power and dominion, is merely an illusion—a trick of the light in his kingdom’s darkness. I am not a commodity to trade or a trophy to display. I am a being unbound by any chains, least of all those forged by the likes of him. The idea that he could use me as a tool for his purposes is an insult to the very essence of what I am. A fire erupts in the depths of my soul—a defiant flame that will not be extinguished. Xavier’s love may have led him astray, but it is the same love that will save us. And Lucifer, for all his cunning and might, will soon realize that he has underestimated the power of an unyielding heart and an unbreakable spirit. I will not be useful. I will not be caged. The tables will eventually turn, and Lucifer will realize that in attempting to bind me, he has only forged the key to his own demise.

Book excerpt: When Evangelist Edward Charles Murrell asked a young man if he were saved, the man said he was thinking about it, but two questions were bothering him: Where did the dinosaurs come from, and where did Cain get his wife? Over the next 30 years, Murrell searched for answers to those questions and more. In Out of the Depths, Murrell looks at the Bible and more obscure works, such as The Second Book of Enoch and Life of Adam and Eve, to answer questions about the heavens and the three worlds God created: The world of giants, which God the Father made for his son Satanail, who fell from grace The world of Adam, whom God created to be the door for Jesus to come through to redeem the world The world of Noah - our world - which God promised not to destroy by flood again Murrell offers some surprising answers. He shares how giants came into being, explains how the dinosaurs died, identifies Jesus as the archangel Michael, and explains God's power to change women into sons of God....

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most evangelical Christians believe that those people who are not saved before they die will be punished in hell forever. But is this what the Bible truly teaches? Do Christians need to rethink their understanding of hell? In the late twentieth century, a growing number of evangelical theologians, biblical scholars, and philosophers began to reject the traditional doctrine of eternal conscious torment in hell in favor of a minority theological perspective called conditional immortality. This view contends that the unsaved are resurrected to face divine judgment, just as Christians have always believed, but due to the fact that immortality is only given to those who are in Christ, the unsaved do not exist forever in hell. Instead, they face the punishment of the "second death"--an end to their conscious existence. This volume brings together excerpts from a variety of well-respected evangelical thinkers, including John Stott, John Wenham, and E. Earl Ellis, as they articulate the biblical, theological, and philosophical arguments for conditionalism. These readings will give thoughtful Christians strong evidence that there are indeed compelling reasons for rethinking hell.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This in-depth study on the realm of death presents a message of hope held by the first generation of Christians and the early church. Using Scripture, patristic tradition, early Christian poetry, and liturgical texts, Archbishop Hilarion explores the mysterious and enigmatic event of Christ⿿s descent into Hades and its consequences for the human race. Insisting that Christ entered Sheol as Conqueror and not as victim, the author depicts the Lord⿿s descent as an event of cosmic significance opening the path to universal salvation. He also reveals Hades as a place of divine presence, a place where the spiritual fate of a person may still change. Reminding readers that self-will remains the only hindrance to life in Christ, he presents the gospel message anew, even in the shadow of death.

Baxter visions of hell and commissioned her to tell people still alive on earth to reject sin and evil, and to choose life in Christ. Here is an account of the place and beings of hell contrasted with the glories of heaven. Follow Mary in her supernatural journey as she enters with Jesus into a gateway to hell and encounters the sights, sounds, and smells of that dark place of torment, including its evil spirits, cells, pits, jaws, and heart. Be an eyewitness to the various punishments of lost souls and hear their shocking stories. This book is a reminder that each of us needs to accept the miracle of salvation before it is too late—and to intercede for those who do not yet know Christ. Time is running out.
