Book Synopsis Primary Care Occupational Therapy by : Sue Dahl-Popolizio
Download or read book Primary Care Occupational Therapy written by Sue Dahl-Popolizio and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-05-15 with total page 473 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Healthcare is shifting towards a holistic, whole person approach to improve population health, decrease cost of care, and improve patient, and provider experiences. To achieve this, the primary care sector is adopting an integrated, interprofessional care team model which addresses both biomedical and behavioral health, and includes preventative care, population health management, technology, and innovative strategies to increase access to care. Occupational therapy (OT) is uniquely positioned to add their distinct whole person mental/behavioral health and medical care scope and skill to these teams to address patient needs. As this is an emerging practice area for OT, and no guidelines specific to primary care exist, this book will be a first of its kind text for occupational therapy practitioners (OTP) in primary care settings. As OTPs work with habits, roles, and routines that affect health, OT in primary care promotes health and improves patient self-management of medical conditions and lifestyles, reducing patient dependence on costly health care services. This timely clinical manual guides best practices for primary care OT. It helps OTPs fit into the quick paced primary care practice model. In traditional OT settings, intervention sessions are longer, and focus on acute rehabilitation or mental/behavioral health conditions. In primary care, visits are brief, and address patient needs in the context of their presenting issue. No other published guide meets the unique needs of this emerging practice area. Authors provide administrative information specific to OT in primary care, and interventions for specific health conditions, including chronic conditions, common to this setting. Written by experts in the field, Primary Care Occupational Therapy is the definitive resource for all primary care OTPs or those interested in lifestyle-based interventions for conditions frequently seen in primary care. It is also a useful guide for behavioral health care providers and administrators of general medical practices.

Book Synopsis Advancing Relationship-Based Cultures by : Mary Koloroutis, RN, MS
Download or read book Advancing Relationship-Based Cultures written by Mary Koloroutis, RN, MS and published by Springer Publishing Company. This book was released on 2017-05-19 with total page 356 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advancing Relationship-Based Cultures explains and expands a fundamental and often overlooked truth in health care: It is the confluence of relational and clinical competence that advances relationship-based healing cultures. A relationship-based culture is one in which a critical mass of people provides care and service with relational competence. In these cultures, the skills that foster relational competence are actively developed, nurtured, practiced, reinforced, and evaluated. While countless thought leaders have championed the importance of improving relationships, this book provides a practical how-to for the creation and nurturance of healthy relationships in health care. Readers of this book will understand that a strategy that includes improving all relationships will improve all other measures as well. When you empower people, giving them the tools to take excellent care of themselves, one another, and the patients and families in their care, organizations thrive.
Book Synopsis Builders of the Third Reich by : Charles Dick
Download or read book Builders of the Third Reich written by Charles Dick and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2020-11-12 with total page 407 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first comprehensive critical study of the Organisation Todt (OT), a key institution which oversaw the Third Reich's vast slave labour programme together with the SS, Wehrmacht and industry. The book breaks new ground by revealing the full extent of the organisation's brutal and murderous operations across occupied Europe and in the Reich. For the first time, Charles Dick provides a strong voice for camp survivors overseen by the OT, drawing on an extensive collection of personal accounts and analysing the violence they endured. Builders of the Third Reich shows Hitler used the OT, which had a labour force of around 1.5 million people in 1944, as an instrument of subjugation and occupation to project German imperial power. Drawing on a broad range of primary sources, it demonstrates how the organisation participated in the plunder of Europe's raw materials and manpower, greatly boosting the German war economy. The book reveals how OT staff shot, beat or worked tens of thousands of prisoners to death, both within the SS-run concentration camp system and outside it, with analysis of OT operations showing that where it had sole, or very high levels of control over camps, prisoner death rates were extremely high. Examining how engineers and builders, individuals who fitted the category of 'ordinary men' as precisely as any other group so far examined by historians, perpetrated war crimes, this volume reflects on how few OT personnel were interrogated or came to trial and how the organisation passed largely under the radar of post-war prosecutors, researchers and the general public.
