Book Synopsis Ordinary Differential Equations with Constant Coefficient by : Serge_ Konstantinovich Godunov
Download or read book Ordinary Differential Equations with Constant Coefficient written by Serge_ Konstantinovich Godunov and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1997-08-19 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the theory of ordinary differential equations with constant coefficients. The exposition is based on ideas developing the Gelfand-Shilov theorem on the polynomial representation of a matrix exponential. Boundary value problems for ordinary equations, Green matrices, Green functions, the Lopatinskii condition, and Lyapunov stability are considered. This volume can be used for practical study of ordinary differential equations using computers. In particular, algorithms and computational procedures, including the orthogonal sweep method, are described. The book also deals with stationary optimal control systems described by systems of ordinary differential equations with constant coefficients. The notions of controllability, observability, and stabilizability are analyzed, and some questions on the matrix Lure-Riccati equations are studied.
Book Synopsis Ordinary Differential Equations by : William A. Adkins
Download or read book Ordinary Differential Equations written by William A. Adkins and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-07-01 with total page 799 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Unlike most texts in differential equations, this textbook gives an early presentation of the Laplace transform, which is then used to motivate and develop many of the remaining differential equation concepts for which it is particularly well suited. For example, the standard solution methods for constant coefficient linear differential equations are immediate and simplified, and solution methods for constant coefficient systems are streamlined. By introducing the Laplace transform early in the text, students become proficient in its use while at the same time learning the standard topics in differential equations. The text also includes proofs of several important theorems that are not usually given in introductory texts. These include a proof of the injectivity of the Laplace transform and a proof of the existence and uniqueness theorem for linear constant coefficient differential equations. Along with its unique traits, this text contains all the topics needed for a standard three- or four-hour, sophomore-level differential equations course for students majoring in science or engineering. These topics include: first order differential equations, general linear differential equations with constant coefficients, second order linear differential equations with variable coefficients, power series methods, and linear systems of differential equations. It is assumed that the reader has had the equivalent of a one-year course in college calculus.

Book Synopsis Introduction to Ordinary Differential Equations with Mathematica by : Alfred Gray
Download or read book Introduction to Ordinary Differential Equations with Mathematica written by Alfred Gray and published by Springer. This book was released on 1997-06-20 with total page 920 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These materials - developed and thoroughly class tested over many years by the authors -are for use in courses at the sophomore/junior level. A prerequisite is the calculus of one variable, although calculus of several variables, and linear algebra are recommended. The text covers the standard topics in first and second order equations, power series solutions, first order systems, Laplace transforms, numerical methods and stability of non-linear systems. Liberal use is made of programs in Mathematica, both for symbolic computations and graphical displays. The programs are described in separate sections, as well as in the accompanying Mathematica notebooks. However, the book has been designed so that it can be read with or without Mathematica and no previous knowledge of Mathematica is required. The CD-ROM contains the Mathematica solution of worked examples, a selection of various Mathematica notebooks, Mathematica movies and sample labs for students. Mathematica programs and additional problem/example files will be available online through the TELOS Web site and the authors dedicated web site.

Book Synopsis Introduction to Differential Equations with Dynamical Systems by : Stephen L. Campbell
Download or read book Introduction to Differential Equations with Dynamical Systems written by Stephen L. Campbell and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2011-10-14 with total page 445 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many textbooks on differential equations are written to be interesting to the teacher rather than the student. Introduction to Differential Equations with Dynamical Systems is directed toward students. This concise and up-to-date textbook addresses the challenges that undergraduate mathematics, engineering, and science students experience during a first course on differential equations. And, while covering all the standard parts of the subject, the book emphasizes linear constant coefficient equations and applications, including the topics essential to engineering students. Stephen Campbell and Richard Haberman--using carefully worded derivations, elementary explanations, and examples, exercises, and figures rather than theorems and proofs--have written a book that makes learning and teaching differential equations easier and more relevant. The book also presents elementary dynamical systems in a unique and flexible way that is suitable for all courses, regardless of length.
