This book was released on 1997-05-02 with total page 127 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The nuclear industry and the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (USNRC) have been working for several years on the development of an adequate process to guide the replacement of aging analog monitoring and control instrumentation in nuclear power plants with modern digital instrumentation without introducing off-setting safety problems. This book identifies criteria for the USNRC's review and acceptance of digital applications in nuclear power plants. It focuses on eight areas: software quality assurance, common-mode software failure potential, systems aspects of digital instrumentation and control technology, human factors and human-machine interfaces, safety and reliability assessment methods, dedication of commercial off-the-shelf hardware and software, the case-by-case licensing process, and the adequacy of technical infrastructure.
Book Synopsis Digital Computer Applications to Process Control by : R. Isermann
Download or read book Digital Computer Applications to Process Control written by R. Isermann and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-05-20 with total page 596 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Digital Computer Applications to Process Control presents the developments in the application of digital computers to the control of technical processes. This book discusses the control principles and includes as well direct feedback and feed forward control as monitoring and optimization of technical processes. Organized into five parts encompassing 77 chapters, this book begins with an overview of the two categories of microprocessor systems. This text then discusses the concept of a sensor controlled robot that adapts to any task, assures product quality, and eliminates machine tending labor. Other chapters consider the ergonomic adaptation of the human operator's working conditions to his abilities. This book discusses as well the self-tuning regulator for liquid level in the acetic acid evaporator and its actual performance in production. The final chapter deals with algebraic method for deadbeat control of multivariable linear time-invariant continuous systems. This book is a valuable resource for electrical and control engineers.

Book Synopsis Fuzzy Systems and Soft Computing in Nuclear Engineering by : Da Ruan
Download or read book Fuzzy Systems and Soft Computing in Nuclear Engineering written by Da Ruan and published by Physica. This book was released on 2013-11-21 with total page 495 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fuzzy systems and soft computing are new computing techniques that are tolerant to imprecision, uncertainty and partial truths. Applications of these techniques in nuclear engineering present a tremendous challenge due to its strict nuclear safety regulation. The fields of nuclear engineering, fuzzy systems and soft computing have nevertheless matured considerably during the last decade. This book presents new application potentials for Fuzzy Systems and Soft Computing in Nuclear Engineering. The root of this book can be traced back to the series of the first, second and third international workshops on Fuzzy Logic and Intelligent Technologies in Nuclear Science (FUNS), which were successfully held in Mol, September 14-16, 1994 (FLINS'94), in Mol, September 25-27, 1996 (FLINS'96), and in Antwerp, September 14-16, 1998 (FLINS'98). The conferences were organised by the Belgian Nuclear Research Centre (SCKeCEN) and aimed at bringing together scientists, researchers, and engineers from academia and industry, at introducing the principles of fuzzy logic, neural networks, genetic algorithms and other soft computing methodologies, to the field of nuclear engineering, and at applying these techniques to complex problem solving within nuclear industry and related research fields. This book, as its title suggests, consists of nuclear engineering applications of fuzzy systems (Chapters 1-10) and soft computing (Chapters 11-21). Nine pertinent chapters are based on the extended version of papers at FLINS'98 and the other 12 chapters are original contributions with up-to-date coverage of fuzzy and soft computing applications by leading researchers written exclusively for this book.

Download or read book Control and Dynamic Systems V14 written by C.T. Leonides and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 406 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Control and Dynamic Systems: Advances in Theory and Applications, Volume 14 provides information pertinent to the fundamental aspects of linear and nonlinear multi-input–multi-output systems. This book presents the development of analysis and synthesis of these complex systems that describes several important applied issues. Organized into five chapters, this volume begins with an overview of the basic issues in models for large-scale engineering systems and other systems. This text then examines the relations between model complexity or accuracy and system performance. Other chapters consider the various significant systems modeling and control issues in nuclear reactors. This book discusses as well the modeling issues and their methods that are fundamentally useful to the differential–functional (DF) system. The final chapter deals with complex many-element power systems and presents techniques for such systems. This book is a valuable resource for controls and systems engineers. Aeronautic research workers will also find this book extremely useful.
