Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based largely on state space models, this text/reference utilizes fundamental linear algebra and operator techniques to develop classical and modern results in linear systems analysis and control design. It presents stability and performance results for linear systems, provides a geometric perspective on controllability and observability, and develops state space realizations of transfer functions. It also studies stabilizability and detectability, constructs state feedback controllers and asymptotic state estimators, covers the linear quadratic regulator problem in detail, introduces H-infinity control, and presents results on Hamiltonian matrices and Riccati equations.
Book Synopsis Linear Algebra and Linear Operators in Engineering by : H. Ted Davis
Download or read book Linear Algebra and Linear Operators in Engineering written by H. Ted Davis and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2000-07-12 with total page 561 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Designed for advanced engineering, physical science, and applied mathematics students, this innovative textbook is an introduction to both the theory and practical application of linear algebra and functional analysis. The book is self-contained, beginning with elementary principles, basic concepts, and definitions. The important theorems of the subject are covered and effective application tools are developed, working up to a thorough treatment of eigenanalysis and the spectral resolution theorem. Building on a fundamental understanding of finite vector spaces, infinite dimensional Hilbert spaces are introduced from analogy. Wherever possible, theorems and definitions from matrix theory are called upon to drive the analogy home. The result is a clear and intuitive segue to functional analysis, culminating in a practical introduction to the functional theory of integral and differential operators. Numerous examples, problems, and illustrations highlight applications from all over engineering and the physical sciences. Also included are several numerical applications, complete with Mathematica solutions and code, giving the student a "hands-on" introduction to numerical analysis. Linear Algebra and Linear Operators in Engineering is ideally suited as the main text of an introductory graduate course, and is a fine instrument for self-study or as a general reference for those applying mathematics. Contains numerous Mathematica examples complete with full code and solutions Provides complete numerical algorithms for solving linear and nonlinear problems Spans elementary notions to the functional theory of linear integral and differential equations Includes over 130 examples, illustrations, and exercises and over 220 problems ranging from basic concepts to challenging applications Presents real-life applications from chemical, mechanical, and electrical engineering and the physical sciences

Book Synopsis Basic Classes of Linear Operators by : Israel Gohberg
Download or read book Basic Classes of Linear Operators written by Israel Gohberg and published by Birkhäuser. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 428 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A comprehensive graduate textbook that introduces functional analysis with an emphasis on the theory of linear operators and its application to differential equations, integral equations, infinite systems of linear equations, approximation theory, and numerical analysis. As a textbook designed for senior undergraduate and graduate students, it begins with the geometry of Hilbert spaces and proceeds to the theory of linear operators on these spaces including Banach spaces. Presented as a natural continuation of linear algebra, the book provides a firm foundation in operator theory which is an essential part of mathematical training for students of mathematics, engineering, and other technical sciences.
Book Synopsis Operator Theory, Operator Algebras, and Matrix Theory by : Carlos André
Download or read book Operator Theory, Operator Algebras, and Matrix Theory written by Carlos André and published by Birkhäuser. This book was released on 2018-08-22 with total page 381 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book consists of invited survey articles and research papers in the scientific areas of the “International Workshop on Operator Algebras, Operator Theory and Applications,” which was held in Lisbon in July 2016. Reflecting recent developments in the field of algebras of operators, operator theory and matrix theory, it particularly focuses on groupoid algebras and Fredholm conditions, algebras of approximation sequences, C* algebras of convolution type operators, index theorems, spectrum and numerical range of operators, extreme supercharacters of infinite groups, quantum dynamics and operator algebras, and inverse eigenvalue problems. Establishing bridges between the three related areas of operator algebras, operator theory, and matrix theory, the book is aimed at researchers and graduate students who use results from these areas.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is dedicated to a theory of traces and determinants on embedded algebras of linear operators, where the trace and determinant are extended from finite rank operators by a limit process. This book was released on 1974-06-28 with total page 373 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about dynamical aspects of ordinary differential equations and the relations between dynamical systems and certain fields outside pure mathematics. A prominent role is played by the structure theory of linear operators on finite-dimensional vector spaces; the authors have included a self-contained treatment of that subject.

Book Synopsis Linear Functional Equations. Operator Approach by : Anatolij Antonevich
Download or read book Linear Functional Equations. Operator Approach written by Anatolij Antonevich and published by Birkhäuser. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book we shall study linear functional equations of the form m bu(x) == Lak(X)U(Qk(X)) = f(x), (1) k=l where U is an unknown function from a given space F(X) of functions on a set X, Qk: X -+ X are given mappings, ak and f are given functions. Our approach is based on the investigation of the operators given by the left-hand side of equa tion (1). In what follows such operators will be called functional operators. We will pay special attention to the spectral properties of functional operators, first of all, to invertibility and the Noether property. Since the set X, the space F(X), the mappings Qk and the coefficients ak are arbitrary, the class of operators of the form (1) is very rich and some of its individ ual representatives are related with problems arising in various areas of mathemat ics and its applications. In addition to the classical theory of functional equations, among such areas one can indicate the theory of functional-differential equations with deviating argument, the theory of nonlocal problems for partial differential equations, the theory of boundary value problems for the equation of a vibrating string and equations of mixed type, a number of problems of the general theory of operator algebras and the theory of dynamical systems, the spectral theory of au tomorphisms of Banach algebras, and other problems.
