This book was released on 2024-04-15 with total page 283 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The primary focus of the book is to explore the asymptotic behavior of problems formulated within cylindrical structures. Various physical applications are discussed, with certain topics such as fluid flows in channels being particularly noteworthy. Additionally, the book delves into the relevance of elasticity in the context of cylindrical bodies. In specific scenarios where the size of the cylinder becomes exceptionally large, the material's behavior is determined solely by its cross-section. The investigation centers around understanding these particular properties.Since the publication of the first edition, several significant advancements have been made, adding depth and interest to the content. Consequently, new sections have been incorporated into the existing edition, complemented by a comprehensive list of references.

Download or read book Asymptotic Behavior of Solutions to the Damped Quasilinear Equation written by Frederick Bloom and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page 15 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Asymptotic lower bounds for the L2 norms of solutions of initial-boundary value problems associated with the equation of the title are derived for a simple case in which the equation fails to exhibit strict hyperbolicity. It is shown that in such cases the norm of a solution will be bounded away from zero as t approaches infinity even as the damping factor gamma becomes infinitely large.
Book Synopsis Asymptotic Properties of Solutions of Nonautonomous Ordinary Differential Equations by : Ivan Kiguradze
Download or read book Asymptotic Properties of Solutions of Nonautonomous Ordinary Differential Equations written by Ivan Kiguradze and published by Springer. This book was released on 1992-11-30 with total page 331 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume provides a comprehensive review of the developments which have taken place during the last thirty years concerning the asymptotic properties of solutions of nonautonomous ordinary differential equations. The conditions of oscillation of solutions are established, and some general theorems on the classification of equations according to their oscillatory properties are proved. In addition, the conditions are found under which nonlinear equations do not have singular, proper, oscillatory and monotone solutions. The book has five chapters: Chapter I deals with linear differential equations; Chapter II with quasilinear equations; Chapter III with general nonlinear differential equations; and Chapter IV and V deal, respectively, with higher-order and second-order differential equations of the Emden-Fowler type. Each section contains problems, including some which presently remain unsolved. The volume concludes with an extensive list of references. For researchers and graduate students interested in the qualitative theory of differential equations.

Book Synopsis Singular Perturbations and Asymptotics by : Richard E. Meyer
Download or read book Singular Perturbations and Asymptotics written by Richard E. Meyer and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2014-05-10 with total page 418 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mathematics Research Center Symposia and Advanced Seminar Series: Singular Perturbations and Asymptotics covers the lectures presented at an Advanced Seminar on Singular Perturbation and Asymptotics, held in Madison, Wisconsin on May 28-30, 1980 under the auspices of the Mathematics Research Center of the University of Wisconsin—Madison. The book focuses on the processes, methodologies, reactions, and principles involved in singular perturbations and asymptotics, including boundary value problems, equations, perturbations, water waves, and gas dynamics. The selection first elaborates on basic concepts in the analysis of singular perturbations, limit process expansions and approximate equations, and results on singularly perturbed boundary value problems. Discussions focus on quasi-linear and nonlinear problems, semilinear systems, water waves, expansion in gas dynamics, asymptotic matching principles, and classical perturbation analysis. The text then takes a look at multiple solutions of singularly perturbed systems in the conditionally stable case and singular perturbations, stochastic differential equations, and applications. The book ponders on connection problems in the parameterless case; general connection-formula problem for linear differential equations of the second order; and turning-point problems for ordinary differential equations of hydrodynamic type. Topics include the comparison equation method, boundary layer flows, compound matrix method, asymptotic solution of the connection-formula problem, and higher order equations. The selection is a valuable source of information for researchers interested in singular perturbations and asymptotics.
Book Synopsis Asymptotic Analysis Of Differential Equations (Revised Edition) by : White Roscoe B
Download or read book Asymptotic Analysis Of Differential Equations (Revised Edition) written by White Roscoe B and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2010-08-16 with total page 432 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book gives the practical means of finding asymptotic solutions to differential equations, and relates WKB methods, integral solutions, Kruskal-Newton diagrams, and boundary layer theory to one another. The construction of integral solutions and analytic continuation are used in conjunction with the asymptotic analysis, to show the interrelatedness of these methods. Some of the functions of classical analysis are used as examples, to provide an introduction to their analytic and asymptotic properties, and to give derivations of some of the important identities satisfied by them. The emphasis is on the various techniques of analysis: obtaining asymptotic limits, connecting different asymptotic solutions, and obtaining integral representation.

Book excerpt: This book presents asymptotic methods for boundary-value problems (linear and semilinear, elliptic and parabolic) in so-called thick multi-level junctions. These complicated structures appear in a large variety of applications. A concise and readable introduction to the topic, the book provides a full review of the literature as well as a presentation of results of the authors, including the homogenization of boundary-value problems in thick multi-level junctions with non-Lipschitz boundaries, and the construction of approximations for solutions to semilinear problems. Including end-of-chapter conclusions discussing the results and their physical interpretations, this book will be of interest to researchers and graduate students in asymptotic analysis and applied mathematics as well as to physicists, chemists and engineers interested in processes such as heat and mass transfer.
Book Synopsis Asymptotic Theory of Dynamic Boundary Value Problems in Irregular Domains by : Dmitrii Korikov
Download or read book Asymptotic Theory of Dynamic Boundary Value Problems in Irregular Domains written by Dmitrii Korikov and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-04-01 with total page 404 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book considers dynamic boundary value problems in domains with singularities of two types. The first type consists of "edges" of various dimensions on the boundary; in particular, polygons, cones, lenses, polyhedra are domains of this type. Singularities of the second type are "singularly perturbed edges" such as smoothed corners and edges and small holes. A domain with singularities of such type depends on a small parameter, whereas the boundary of the limit domain (as the parameter tends to zero) has usual edges, i.e. singularities of the first type. In the transition from the limit domain to the perturbed one, the boundary near a conical point or an edge becomes smooth, isolated singular points become small cavities, and so on. In an "irregular" domain with such singularities, problems of elastodynamics, electrodynamics and some other dynamic problems are discussed. The purpose is to describe the asymptotics of solutions near singularities of the boundary. The presented results and methods have a wide range of applications in mathematical physics and engineering. The book is addressed to specialists in mathematical physics, partial differential equations, and asymptotic methods.
