Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sequential estimation problems for the mean parameter of an exponential distribution has received much attention over the years. Purely sequential and accelerated sequential estimators and their asymptotic second-order characteristics have been laid out in the existing literature, both for minimum risk point as well as bounded length confidence interval estimation of the mean parameter. Having obtained a data set from such sequentially designed experiments, the paper investigates estimation problems for the associated reliability function. Second-order approximations are provided for the bias and mean squared error of the proposed estimator of the reliability function, first under a general setup. An ad hoc bias-corrected version is also introduced. Then, the proposed estimator is investigated further under some specific sequential sampling strategies, already available in the literature. In the end, simulation results are presented for comparing the proposed estimators of the reliability function for moderate sample sizes and various sequential sampling strategies.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The only comprehensive guide to the theory and practice of one oftoday's most important probabilistic techniques The past 15 years have witnessed many significant advances insequential estimation, especially in the areas of three-stage andnonparametric methodology. Yet, until now, there were no referencesdevoted exclusively to this rapidly growing statisticalfield. Sequential Estimation is the first, single-source guide to thetheory and practice of both classical and modern sequentialestimation techniques--including parametric and nonparametricmethods. Researchers in sequential analysis will appreciate theunified, logically integrated treatment of the subject, as well ascoverage of important contemporary procedures not covered in moregeneral sequential analysis texts, such as: * Shrinkage estimation * Empirical and hierarchical Bayes procedures * Multistage sampling and accelerated sampling procedures * Time-sequential estimation * Sequential estimation in finite population sampling * Reliability estimation and capture-recapture methodologiesleading to sequential tagging schemes An indispensable resource for researchers in sequential analysis,Sequential Estimation is an ideal graduate-level text as well.
Book Synopsis Estimating Mean Reliability Growth by :
Download or read book Estimating Mean Reliability Growth written by and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A model is defined wherein corrective action may be accounted for in improving the estimation of reliability over the usual nominal success ratio. Probabilities for correcting any one of K failure modes which may arise are assumed known within the structure of a multinomial sampling procedure. Mean reliability is defined as a function of the unknown probabilities attached to the failure modes, the problem being to estimate this mean. Other measures of current reliability are defined. Three different estimators of mean reliability are defined and analyzed from the point of view of unbiasedness. Explicit expressions for the bias are derived and compared numerically for a wide variety of choices for the unknown parameters. Several problem areas for further research are identified and partial formulations of some of these are discussed. (Author).

Download or read book Signal Processing in Radar Systems written by Vyacheslav Tuzlukov and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-12-19 with total page 635 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An essential task in radar systems is to find an appropriate solution to the problems related to robust signal processing and the definition of signal parameters. Signal Processing in Radar Systems addresses robust signal processing problems in complex radar systems and digital signal processing subsystems. It also tackles the important issue of defining signal parameters. The book presents problems related to traditional methods of synthesis and analysis of the main digital signal processing operations. It also examines problems related to modern methods of robust signal processing in noise, with a focus on the generalized approach to signal processing in noise under coherent filtering. In addition, the book puts forth a new problem statement and new methods to solve problems of adaptation and control by functioning processes. Taking a systems approach to designing complex radar systems, it offers readers guidance in solving optimization problems. Organized into three parts, the book first discusses the main design principles of the modern robust digital signal processing algorithms used in complex radar systems. The second part covers the main principles of computer system design for these algorithms and provides real-world examples of systems. The third part deals with experimental measurements of the main statistical parameters of stochastic processes. It also defines their estimations for robust signal processing in complex radar systems. Written by an internationally recognized professor and expert in signal processing, this book summarizes investigations carried out over the past 30 years. It supplies practitioners, researchers, and students with general principles for designing the robust digital signal processing algorithms employed by complex radar systems.
