Book excerpt: Three SEALs need a nanny for their twins… and someone to satisfy their hot-as-sin bodies, too. I moved cross-country to be with my ex, and one night I followed him, suspecting he was cheating on me. He ended up going to the strip club, Ranchy High. I had to find a way to get in, so when the bouncer asked if I was the nanny, I lied. I found out that my ex was cheating and stealing from others. Distressed and distraught, I found myself in the Jeep with a driver, with not only one kid, but two. Their driver took me to their penthouse, which was on the other side of town. I soon found out that their dads were hot triplets—Stan, Rick, and Pete. They told me that I did a good job and hired me on the spot. The three hot-as-sin SEALs were triplets, but they’re different in every way. Rick, with his seductive and commanding emerald eyes, made me want to surrender to him. Pete was the fun one, the kind who loved to keep entertaining me all night long. Stan was the shy one, the virgin I had to set free from his anxieties. I found a new lease on life, one that I’d never dreamed of having until I moved in. No more did I have a man making all my anxieties go into overtime. My world could turn upside down because everything was going right, but it could go wrong if they found out my secret. The lie in which I’d been holding on to, could be revealed, and I would end up losing a lot more than the new home I’ve found—I could end up losing my heart, too.

Book Synopsis The Art of Neighboring by : Jay Pathak
Download or read book The Art of Neighboring written by Jay Pathak and published by Baker Books. This book was released on 2012-08-01 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Once upon a time, people knew their neighbors. They talked to them, had cook-outs with them, and went to church with them. In our time of unprecedented mobility and increasing isolationism, it's hard to make lasting connections with those who live right outside our front door. We have hundreds of "friends" through online social networking, but we often don't even know the full name of the person who lives right next door. This unique and inspiring book asks the question: What is the most loving thing I can do for the people who live on my street or in my apartment building? Through compelling true stories of lives impacted, the authors show readers how to create genuine friendships with the people who live in closest proximity to them. Discussion questions at the end of each chapter make this book perfect for small groups or individual study.
Book Synopsis Welcome to the Neighborhood by : Sarah Green
Download or read book Welcome to the Neighborhood written by Sarah Green and published by Ohio University Press. This book was released on 2019-12-10 with total page 323 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How to live with difference—not necessarily in peace, but with resilience, engagement, and a lack of vitriol—is a defining worry in America at this moment. The poets, fiction writers, and essayists (plus one graphic novelist) who contributed to Welcome to the Neighborhood don’t necessarily offer roadmaps to harmonious neighboring. Some of their narrators don’t even want to be neighbors. Maybe they grieve, or rage. Maybe they briefly find resolution or community. But they do approach the question of what it means to be neighbors, and how we should do it, with open minds and nuance. The many diverse contributors give this collection a depth beyond easy answers. Their attentions to the theme of neighborliness as an ongoing evolution offer hope to readers: possible pathways for rediscovering community, even just by way of a shared wish for it. The result is an enormously rich resource for the classroom and for anyone interested in reflecting on what it means to be American today, and how place and community play a part. Contributors include Leila Chatti, Rita Dove, Jonathan Escoffery, Rebecca Morgan Frank, Amina Gautier, Ross Gay, Mark Halliday, Joy Harjo, Edward Hirsch, Marie Howe, Sonya Larson, Dinty W. Moore, Robert Pinsky, Christine Schutt, and many more.
Download or read book Peaceful Neighbor written by Michael Long and published by Westminster John Knox Press. This book was released on 2015-03-13 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fred Rogers was one of the most radical pacifists of contemporary history. We do not usually think of him as radical, partly because he wore colorful, soft sweaters made by his mother. Nor do we usually imagine him as a pacifist; that adjective seems way too political to describe the host of a children's program known for its focus on feelings. We have restricted Fred Rogers to the realm of entertainment, children, and feelings, and we've ripped him out of his political and religious context. Rogers was an ordained Presbyterian minister, and although he rarely shared his religious convictions on his program, he fervently believed in a God who accepts us as we are and who desires a world marked by peace and wholeness. With this progressive spirituality as his inspiration, Rogers used his children's program as a platform for sharing countercultural beliefs about caring nonviolently for one another, animals, and the earth. To critics who dared call him “namby-pamby,†Rogers said, “Only people who take the time to see our work can begin to understand the depth of it.†This is the invitation of Peaceful Neighbor, to see and understand Rogers's convictions and their expression through his program. Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, it turns out, is far from sappy, sentimental, and shallow; it's a sharp political response to a civil and political society poised to kill.
Book Synopsis Killing Neighbors by : Lee Ann Fujii
Download or read book Killing Neighbors written by Lee Ann Fujii and published by Cornell University Press. This book was released on 2011-07-07 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the horrific events of the mid-1990s in Rwanda, tens of thousands of Hutu killed their Tutsi friends, neighbors, even family members. That ghastly violence has overshadowed a fact almost as noteworthy: that hundreds of thousands of Hutu killed no one. In a transformative revisiting of the motives behind and specific contexts surrounding the Rwandan genocide, Lee Ann Fujii focuses on individual actions rather than sweeping categories. Fujii argues that ethnic hatred and fear do not satisfactorily explain the mobilization of Rwandans one against another. Fujii's extensive interviews in Rwandan prisons and two rural communities form the basis for her claim that mass participation in the genocide was not the result of ethnic antagonisms. Rather, the social context of action was critical. Strong group dynamics and established local ties shaped patterns of recruitment for and participation in the genocide. This web of social interactions bound people to power holders and killing groups. People joined and continued to participate in the genocide over time, Fujii shows, because killing in large groups conferred identity on those who acted destructively. The perpetrators of the genocide produced new groups centered on destroying prior bonds by killing kith and kin.
