Book Synopsis Non-Traditional Stable Isotopes by : Fang-Zhen Teng
Download or read book Non-Traditional Stable Isotopes written by Fang-Zhen Teng and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2017-03-06 with total page 902 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The development of multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (MC-ICPMS) makes it possible to precisely measure non-traditional stable isotopes. This volume reviews the current status of non-traditional isotope geochemistry from analytical, theoretical, and experimental approaches to analysis of natural samples. In particular, important applications to cosmochemistry, high-temperature geochemistry, low-temperature geochemistry, and geobiology are discussed. This volume provides the most comprehensive review on non-traditional isotope geochemistry for students and researchers who are interested in both the theory and applications of non-traditional stable isotope geochemistry.
Book Synopsis Geochemistry of Non-Traditional Stable Isotopes by : Clark M. Johnson
Download or read book Geochemistry of Non-Traditional Stable Isotopes written by Clark M. Johnson and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2018-12-17 with total page 472 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The goal for Volume 55 of Reviews in Mineralogy and Geochemistry was to bring together a summary of the isotope geochemistry of non-traditional stable isotope systems as is known through 2003 for those elements that have been studied in some detail, and which have a variety of geochemical properties. In addition, recognizing that many of these elements are of interest to workers who are outside the traditional stable isotope fields, we felt it was important to include discussions on the broad isotopic variations that occur in the solar system, theoretical approaches to calculating isotopic fractionations, and the variety of analytical methods that are in use. We hope, therefore, that this volume proves to be useful to not only the isotope specialist, but to others who are interested in the contributions that these non-traditional stable isotopes may make toward understanding geochemical and biological cycles. The review chapters in this volume were the basis for a two-day short course on nontraditional stable isotopes held prior (May 15-16, 2004) to the spring AGU/CGU Meeting in Montreal, Canada.
Book Synopsis Handbook of Stable Isotope Analytical Techniques Vol II by : Pier A. de Groot
Download or read book Handbook of Stable Isotope Analytical Techniques Vol II written by Pier A. de Groot and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2008-11-10 with total page 1399 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This two-volume reference serves as a handbook containing a wealth of information for all isotope chemists working in a wide range of disciplines including anthropology to ecology; drug detection methodology to toxicology; nutrition to food science; and the atmospheric sciences to geochemistry.Complementing the first volume, Volume II includes matters that are not strictly confined to the analytical techniques themselves, but relate to analysis of stable isotopes, such as the views on the development of mass spectrometers, isotopic scales, standards and references, and directives for setting up a laboratory.ALSO AVAILABLE:Volume I: Dec. 2004, 0444511148/9780444511140, $176.00Volume I and II (set): Oct. 2007, 0444511164/9780444511164, $205.00 - Presents an encyclopedic overview of stable isotope analytical techniques in an objective way - Includes descriptions of methods and diagrams of analytical devices - Addresses how older techniques formed the basis for present-day techniques, which can be useful in constructing modern analytical systems - Completments Volume I of the set

Book Synopsis The Geochemistry of Stable Chlorine and Bromine Isotopes by : Hans Eggenkamp
Download or read book The Geochemistry of Stable Chlorine and Bromine Isotopes written by Hans Eggenkamp and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-08-25 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides detailed information on the history, analysis and applications of chlorine and bromine isotope geochemistry. Chlorine and bromine are geochemically unique as they prefer to exist as single charged negative ions. For this reason isotope fractionation reflects mostly processes that are not related to changes in the redox state and this fractionation is generally modest. The book will describe the processes that are most easily detected using these isotopes. Also isotope variations, and processes that cause them, measured in oxidised species such as perchlorates and in organic molecules will be described in this book.

Book Synopsis Fluid-Fluid Interactions by : Axel Liebscher
Download or read book Fluid-Fluid Interactions written by Axel Liebscher and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2018-12-17 with total page 444 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Volume 65 of Reviews in Mineralogy and Geochemistry attempts to fill this gap and to explicitly focus on the role that co-existing fluids play in the diverse geologic environments. It brings together the previously somewhat detached literature on fluid–fluid interactions in continental, volcanic, submarine and subduction zone environments. It emphasizes that fluid mixing and unmixing are widespread processes that may occur in all geologic environments of the entire crust and upper mantle. Despite different P-T conditions, the fundamental processes are analogous in the different settings.
