This work is of quite general validity and model independence. Since then, extensive investigations have been carried out to unravel the properties of the Higgs boson and understand its interactions with other fundamental particles. Monte Carlo simulations play an important role in studies of particle physics. They generate theoretical predictions and can be compared with experimental data to test our understanding of physics. In this dissertation, the anomalous Higgs boson coupling to vector bosons was implemented in VBFNLO for Higgs boson plus three jets via VBF at the next-to-leading order (NLO) accuracy. I present results for a number of collider observables that are sensitive to the CP structure, whether in different CP scenarios and in the Standard Model. I also investigate the effects of NLO multijet merging and NLO QCD corrections matched to a parton shower on selected observables through the framework provided by Herwig 7.

Book excerpt: This review article covers results on the production of all possible electroweak boson pairs and 2-to-1 vector boson fusion (VBF) at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV and 8 TeV. The data was taken between 2010 and 2012. Limits on anomalous triple gauge couplings (aTGCs) then follow. In addition, data on electroweak triple gauge boson production and 2-to-2 vector boson scattering (VBS) yield limits on anomalous quartic gauge boson couplings (aQGCs). The LHC hosts two general purpose experiments, ATLAS and CMS, which both have reported limits on aTGCs and aQGCs which are herein summarized. The interpretation of these limits in terms of an effective field theory (EFT) is reviewed, and recommendations are made for testing other types of new physics using multi-gauge boson production.

Book excerpt: A search for anomalous pseudoscalar couplings of the Higgs boson H to electroweak vector bosons V (= W or Z) in a sample of proton-proton collision events corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 18.9 fb$^{-1}$ at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV is presented. Events consistent with the topology of associated VH production, where the Higgs boson decays to a pair of bottom quarks and the vector boson decays leptonically, are analyzed. The consistency of data with a potential pseudoscalar contribution to the HVV interaction, expressed by the effective pseudoscalar cross section fractions $f_{a_3}$, is assessed by means of profile likelihood scans. Results are given for the VH channels alone and for a combined analysis of the VH and previously published H $\rightarrow$ VV channels. Assuming the standard model ratio of the coupling strengths of the Higgs boson to top and bottom quarks, $ f_{a_3}^{\mathrm{ZZ}}>0.0034$ is excluded at 95% confidence level in the combination.

If their masses are typically O(100 GeV) ∼ O(TeV), a lightest neutralino can be a candidate for the dark matter, and the problem is solved by canceling the correction of the Higgs boson mass. Further, SUSY can explain the experimental result of the muon magnetic moment (g-2). This book presents a search for electroweakinos—the superpartners of the SM electroweak bosons—such as charginos and neutralinos using data at the LHC collected by the ATLAS detector. Pair-produced electroweakinos decay into the light ones and SM bosons (W/Z/h), and with the large mass difference between the heavy and light electroweakinos, the SM bosons have high momenta. In a fully hadronic final state, quarks decayed from the bosons are collimated, and can consequently be reconstructed as a single large-radius jet. This search has three advantages. The first is a statistical benefit by large branching ratios of the SM bosons. The second is to use characteristic signatures—the mass and substructure—of jets to identify as the SM bosons. The last is a small dependency on the signal model by targeting all the SM bosons. Thanks to them, the sensitivity is significantly improved compared to the previous analyses. Exclusion limits at the 95% confidence level on the heavy electroweakino mass parameter are set as a function of the light electroweakino mass parameter. They are set on wino or higgsino production models with various assumptions, such as the branching ratio of their decaying and the type of lightest SUSY particle. These limits are the most stringent limits. Besides, this book provides the most stringent constraints on SUSY scenarios motivated by the dark matter, the muon g-2 anomaly, and the naturalness.

Sensitivities are compared for these accelerators using models based on the effective Lagrangian approach. The sensitivities described here are for measurement of[open-quotes]generic[close-quotes] parameters[kappa][sub V], [lambda][sub V], etc., defined in the text. Pre-LHC measurements will not probe these coupling parameters to precision better than O(10[sup -1]). The LHC should be sensitive to better than O(10[sup -2]), while a future NLC should achieve sensitivity of O(10[sup -3]) to O(10[sup -4]) for center of mass energies ranging from 0.5 to 1.5 TeV.
