Book excerpt: Excerpt from Oak-Leaf Jars: A Fifteenth Century Italian Ware Showing Moresco Influence It was to be expected that the maiolica fabricated under the impulse of the new movementwould not at once display any very pronounced difference of style. Fresh motives of design were sought after and eagerly assimilated, yet in their classification the wares can scarcely be separated by sharp lines of demarcation. One alone stands forth from the rest possessing an individuality which denotes a distinct type, and since it has excited the admira tion of the connoisseurs and collectors it seems the most fitting wherewith to commence the illustration of the output of the second quarter of the century. It has, moreover, had the good fortune to be preserved in more numerous examples than its fellows. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Abby's daughter, Neal Grace, devastated by the loss of her doting father and the illness of her beloved grandmother, wishes for change, for the chance to break free from other people's expectations. And Abby's mother Edith wishes only to be liberated from life itself. But wishes often backfire. As their wishes begin to come true, the Quinn women start to wonder: Could it be that their old life wasn't so bad after all? Is it possible that the answer to their deepest longings has been right in front of them, all along?
