Download or read book Foreign Operation Methods written by Lawrence S. Welch and published by Edward Elgar Publishing. This book was released on 2008-01-01 with total page 471 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New insights and a provocative perspective characterized this book by Professors Welch, Benito, and Petersen. . . Managers will find the framework of this book very appealing and relevant to their everyday international efforts and inquiries. The book is mandatory reading for academics and graduates in business, international marketing, and international business. Carlos M. Rodriguez, International Marketing Review Numerous books and articles on entry strategies and entry modes explain why companies choose a certain mode and how companies should enter foreign markets. This book, however, deals with the strategic decision making process when deciding which mode to use on entering a new market. The approach in this book is novel in that it discusses and suggests how companies can use a mixed mode approach to achieve success in foreign markets. Moreover, it deals with issues such as how and when to move from one mode to another, which has always been an important question for firms as well as for scholars. To summarize, this is a timely publication which, based on solid theoretical grounding, provides excellent guidelines for managers formulating strategies to enter new markets, as well as expanding their operations in foreign markets. Pervez N. Ghauri, Manchester Business School, University of Manchester, UK Also known as entry modes or foreign market servicing methods , foreign operation methods are critical criteria for companies ability to function in the international business arena. This comprehensive and accessible textbook explores the characteristics, choice, utilization and management of foreign operation methods. The book provides an extended analysis of the various foreign operation mode options, including those that have, until now, received relatively cursory treatment. Issues such as international licensing, franchising, outsourcing, project operations and management contracts are also discussed. In addition to providing an overview of the various theoretical perspectives on foreign operation mode choice, a treatment of emerging strategy concerns such as mode combinations and mode switching is included. Featuring a thorough overview of the various theoretical perspectives on foreign operation mode choice and use, and treatment of emerging strategy concerns such as mode combinations and mode switching, this textbook provides a somewhat broader coverage of foreign operation methods than current literature has offered until now. It will prove invaluable for a wide-ranging readership encompassing undergraduate and postgraduate students, academics and practitioners in the field of international business.

Download or read book Palestine Ltd. written by Toufic Haddad and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2016-07-28 with total page 354 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the 1993 Oslo Accords, the Occupied Palestinian Territory has been the subject of extensive international peacebuilding and statebuilding efforts coordinated by Western donor states and international finance institutions. Despite their failure to yield peace or Palestinian statehood, the role of these organisations in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is generally overlooked owing to their depiction as tertiary actors engaged in technical missions. In Palestine Ltd., Toufic Haddad explores how neoliberal frameworks have shaped and informed the common understandings of international, Israeli and Palestinian interactions throughout the Oslo peace process. Drawing upon more than 20 years of policy literature, field-based interviews and recently declassified or leaked documents, he details how these frameworks have led to struggles over influencing Palestinian political and economic behaviour, and attempts to mould the class character of Palestinian society and its leadership. A dystopian vision of Palestine emerges as the by-product of this complex asymmetrical interaction, where nationalism, neo-colonialism and `disaster capitalism' both intersect and diverge. This book is essential for students and scholars interested in Middle East Studies, Arab-Israeli politics and international development.
Book Synopsis The NEBI YEARBOOK 1999 by : Lars Hedegaard
Download or read book The NEBI YEARBOOK 1999 written by Lars Hedegaard and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 488 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thorvald Stoltenberg Ambassador Chairman of the Editorial Advisory Board A.5 the second volume of the this yearbook goes to press, Europe faces new and to some degree unexpected dangers of political and ideological division. It is a frightening realisation that not even ten years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, the subsequent dissolution of the Soviet Empire and the democratisation and economic transformation of most of the old Soviet-dominated Central and Eastern Europe, fissures have appeared that threaten to undo some of what has been accomplished in terms of East-West rapprochement. The immediate crisis over Kosovo may well have been resolved by the time this is being read. However, it is hard to escape a foreboding that some of the mutual ill will between Russia and the Western powers that has surfaced in the wake of that conflict may linger for years to come. It is therefore imperative that Russia and the Western powers sit down to discuss what can be done to avoid similar conflicts in the future and how to overcome mutual recriminations so that they do not harden into new political front lines between East and West in Europe. The recent developments make the promotion of integration in the NEBI area even more urgent. So far this process has been based on two equally impor tant platforms: economic integration and political integration, including mea sures to dismantle old conflict potentials.
Book Synopsis Contending Theories on Development Aid by : Leslie O. Omoruyi
Download or read book Contending Theories on Development Aid written by Leslie O. Omoruyi and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-09-20 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This title was first published in 2001: This thorough and comprehensive examination of the nature and pattern of post-Cold War aid to sub-Saharan Africa provides incisive, comparative case studies of the motivations behind the foreign aid policies of key members of the Development Association Committee (DAC). In one of the most rigorous contemporary efforts to evaluate the adequacy of the dominant theories of international relations on an important subject like foreign aid, Dr Omoruyi eschews easy answers to the problem of Africa's marginalization in the international system. He provides thoughtful, innovative suggestions for promoting a new development partnership between industrialized countries and Africa using a sophisticated quantitative method of inquiry, making this text a valuable contribution to social science literature on research methods.

The first section provides a description of the compilation techniques underlying selected area and world tables. The second identifies for each country the standard sources of the statistics and provides some explanatory material on each country’s data, including any breaks in the series. Country Notes is designed to be a companion volume to each version of IFS: the monthly print edition, the yearbook, the CD-ROM, and the Internet. It will normally appear as an annual volume and will be shipped with the print edition of the International Financial Statistics Yearbook during August each year. Private commercial banks report data based on the Gregorian calendar, while state-owned commercial banks report data based on the Solar calendar. This results in differences in the interbank positions for other depository corporations.
