Book excerpt: In 1794 a group of Russian orthodox missionaries landed on Kodiak Island, Alaska, with the intent of preaching to native Americans, baptizing those who would accept the Christian life and developing for them both academic and agricultural schools. Of these missionaries, Father Herman lived among the Aleut people for over 40 years, and earned the nickname Apa or Grandfather. He was often involved with local authorities concerning the rights of local natives, who were constantly violated by explorers and foreign authorities. In this volume, author Dorrie Papademetriou captures the essence of the monk and the world of Apa and the Aleut people comes alive in illustrations of northern lights, Kodiak bears, giant cabbages and angel's wings.
Book Synopsis Chasing the North Star by : Robert Morgan
Download or read book Chasing the North Star written by Robert Morgan and published by Hachette UK. This book was released on 2016-04-05 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In his latest historical novel, bestselling author Robert Morgan brings to full and vivid life the story of Jonah Williams, who, in 1850, on his eighteenth birthday, flees the South Carolina plantation on which he was born a slave. He takes with him only a few stolen coins, a knife, and the clothes on his back--no shoes, no map, no clear idea of where to head, except north, following a star that he prays will be his guide. Hiding during the day and running through the night, Jonah must elude the men sent to capture him and the bounty hunters out to claim the reward on his head. There is one person, however, who, once on his trail, never lets him fully out of sight: Angel, herself a slave, yet with a remarkably free spirit. In Jonah, she sees her own way to freedom, and so sets out to follow him. Bristling with breathtaking adventure, Chasing the North Star is deftly grounded in historical fact yet always gripping and poignant as the story follows Jonah and Angel through the close calls and narrow escapes of a fearsome world. It is a celebration of the power of the human spirit to persevere in the face of great adversity. And it is Robert Morgan at his considerable best.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the ambulance sped out of the school parking lot, rumors at Bethany High School were going rampart. The third-hour class bell had just rung and kids were streaming out of their classes. The ambulance's flashing lights and siren could be seen and heard as it transported Doug to Bethany Memorial Hospital. "I heard it was Doug Thomas. I think he is stoned," one student remarked. "We heard he was DEAD!" two sophomores said in agreement. "This won't be the first time Doug has been stoned, but it could be his last time!" a third student chimed into the conversation. Students stood stunned at the event taking place in their school. Students had been aware that Doug and some of his friends had bragged about doing drugs from time to time, but this was bringing a reality to the student body. ********* Lesam and Lejoy, invisible to the surrounding individuals, sat on the top of the lockers in Bethany High. These Ministering Angels sadly heard all the conversations about Doug. They watch solemnly as the students filed into their fourth-hour classes. "Lesam, this is happening more and more often! I feel so helpless for these unsuspecting teens. They have no idea that they are in the middle of a 'Spiritual Battle' between good and evil." Lejoy wiped a tear from her eye. "If only our commands would come down from the Lord." "You know, as Ministering Angels, we are not allowed to intervene until we are directed by God," Lesam lamented. "We have our new Charges, Lesam. We must focus on God's commands for the Stevenson family, now," Lejoy stated. They both sat silently, as the halls began once again to become void of students. The fourth-hour tardy bell rang.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Did creation happen in the beginning by a homosexual union? Does the sun and the whole Universe run on the principle of homosexuality? Does the Bible tell of God and angels in heaven having dresses and bras because they are transsexuals and a hermaphrodite? Are the 144,000 witnesses of God in Revelation chapters 7 and 14 homosexuals? Is part of God literally a dunghill? Does part of God speak profanity? After the end of this world will we all go to live on a new earth with the New Jerusalem filled with homosexuals and lawless, and outside its gates are the religious? Did God make a new covenant in these last days that allows homosexuals and all people into His kingdom forever? Will the Lord God at that time be there as a Hermaphrodite (she/male) as the joining of the two (good and evil) so all may live forever in peace and joy, which the Bible predicted as the wedding of Christ and His bride? Were all the wisdom and teaching and prophecies of the end time antichrist and evil reversed? That in the end times the real evil is religion and that at the end the New Jerusalem is free and lawless? Was the main part of satan all along that of a religious spirit and was always testing and not tempting? Were words given to explain God have the meaning that He is a God for all races, cultures, ways of life and religions and even the non-religious? Are Gentiles children of devils? Are we all Jewish? For all the details read the whole book: Theism The Philadelphia Theory: One word that answers all things for all to know. This book was finished by April 13, 2018 A.D.
