Book excerpt: Neutrosophic triangular norms (t-norms) and their residuated lattices are not only the main research object of neutrosophic set theory, but also the core content of neutrosophic logic. Neutrosophic implications are important operators of neutrosophic logic. Neutrosophic residual implications based on neutrosophic t-norms can be applied to the fields of neutrosophic inference and neutrosophic control. In this paper, neutrosophic t-norms, neutrosophic residual implications, and the residuated lattices derived from neutrosophic t-norms are investigated deeply. First of all, the lattice and its corresponding system are proved to be a complete lattice and a De Morgan algebra, respectively. Second, the notions of neutrosophic t-norms are introduced on the complete lattice discussed earlier. The basic concepts and typical examples of representable and non-representable neutrosophic t-norms are obtained. Naturally, De Morgan neutrosophic triples are defined for the duality of neutrosophic t-norms and neutrosophic t-conorms with respect to neutrosophic negators. Third, neutrosophic residual implications generated from neutrosophic t-norms and their basic properties are investigated. Furthermore, residual neutrosophic t-norms are proved to be infinitely -distributive, and then some important properties possessed by neutrosophic residual implications are given. Finally, a method for producing neutrosophic t-norms from neutrosophic implications is presented, and the residuated lattices are constructed on the basis of neutrosophic t-norms and neutrosophic residual implications.

Book excerpt: This book offers a comprehensive guide to the use of neutrosophic sets in multiple criteria decision making problems. It shows how neutrosophic sets, which have been developed as an extension of fuzzy and paraconsistent logic, can help in dealing with certain types of uncertainty that classical methods could not cope with. The chapters, written by well-known researchers, report on cutting-edge methodologies they have been developing and testing on a variety of engineering problems. The book is unique in its kind as it reports for the first time and in a comprehensive manner on the joint use of neutrosophic sets together with existing decision making methods to solve multi-criteria decision-making problems, as well as other engineering problems that are complex, hard to model and/or include incomplete and vague data. By providing new ideas, suggestions and directions for the solution of complex problems in engineering and decision making, it represents an excellent guide for researchers, lecturers and postgraduate students pursuing research on neutrosophic decision making, and more in general in the area of industrial and management engineering.

Book excerpt: Fuzzy set theory provides us with a framework which is wider than that of classical set theory. Various mathematical structures, whose features emphasize the effects of ordered structure, can be developed on the theory. Fuzzy topology is one such branch, combining ordered structure with topological structure. This branch of mathematics, emerged from the background — processing fuzziness, and locale theory, proposed from the angle of pure mathematics by the great French mathematician Ehresmann, comprise the two most active aspects of topology on lattice, which affect each other. This book is the first monograph to systematically reflect the up-to-date state of fuzzy topology. It emphasizes the so-called “pointed approach” and the effects of stratification structure appearing in fuzzy sets. The monograph can serve as a reference book for mathematicians, researchers, and graduate students working in this branch of mathematics. After an appropriate rearrangements of the chapters and sections, it can also be used as a text for undergraduates. The original data for this processing comes from measurements or from experts, and both sources are subject to uncertainty. Traditionally, probabilistic methods have been used to process uncertainty. However, in many practical situations, we do not know the corresponding probabilities: in measurements, we often only know the upper bound on the measurement errors; this is known as interval uncertainty. In turn, expert estimates often include imprecise (fuzzy) words from natural language such as "small"; this is known as fuzzy uncertainty. In this book, leading specialists on interval, fuzzy, probabilistic uncertainty and their combination describe state-of-the-art developments in their research areas. Accordingly, the book offers a valuable guide for researchers and practitioners interested in data processing under uncertainty, and an introduction to the latest trends and techniques in this area, suitable for graduate students.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mathematical Principles of Fuzzy Logic provides a systematic study of the formal theory of fuzzy logic. The book is based on logical formalism demonstrating that fuzzy logic is a well-developed logical theory. It includes the theory of functional systems in fuzzy logic, providing an explanation of what can be represented, and how, by formulas of fuzzy logic calculi. It also presents a more general interpretation of fuzzy logic within the environment of other proper categories of fuzzy sets stemming either from the topos theory, or even generalizing the latter. This book presents fuzzy logic as the mathematical theory of vagueness as well as the theory of commonsense human reasoning, based on the use of natural language, the distinguishing feature of which is the vagueness of its semantics.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Neutrosophic Statistics means statistical analysis of population or sample that has indeterminate (imprecise, ambiguous, vague, incomplete, unknown) data. For example, the population or sample size might not be exactly determinate because of some individuals that partially belong to the population or sample, and partially they do not belong, or individuals whose appurtenance is completely unknown. Also, there are population or sample individuals whose data could be indeterminate. In this book, we develop the 1995 notion of neutrosophic statistics. We present various practical examples. It is possible to define the neutrosophic statistics in many ways, because there are various types of indeterminacies, depending on the problem to solve.
