Einleitung Die vorliegende Seminararbeit im Bereich Familien- und Erziehungsberatung setzt sich mit dem Thema „Aufbau und Erhalt positiver Eltern-Kind-Beziehungen“ auseinander, da Erziehung, also „[...] die bewusste und zielgerichtete Beeinflussung von Kindern durch Eltern [...]“ (vgl. Vollmer 2005, S. 78), erst auf der Grundlage einer positiven emotionalen Beziehung stattfindet und wirksam ist (vgl. Tschöpe-Scheffler 2003, S. 44ff.). Die Eltern-Kind-Beziehung gehört außerdem zu den bedeutsamsten Faktoren für die Entwicklung kindlichen Verhaltens (vgl. Lask 2007, S. 54). Die Hirnforschung kann nicht nur belegen, dass das Gehirn des Kindes ein Lern-spezialist ist, sondern auch zeigen, dass es besonders dann Gelerntes abspei-chern und abstrahieren kann, wenn Kinder in sicherer, enger und vertrauter Ver-bundenheit mit ihren Bezugspersonen leben (ebd., S. 13). Jeder Mensch ist min-destens auf sich selbst, aber auch auf andere Menschen bezogen. Entscheidend ist die Qualität von zwischenmenschlichen Beziehungen, deren Grundlage Ver-trauen ist. Dieses muss in einem lebenslangen, herausfordernden Prozess aufgebaut und immer wieder erarbeitet werden. Erziehungsansätze wandeln sich mit dem Lauf der Zeit, der Veränderungen in den Bereichen Politik, Gesellschaft und Familie mit sich bringt. Dies verdeutlicht auch der dänische Erziehungswissenschaftler Jesper Juul. Er schreibt (Juul 2010, S. 15): „Eltern, Lehrer und Pädagogen genießen den Respekt ihrer Umwelt inzwischen weniger durch das, was sie sind, als dadurch, wer sie sind.“ Sigrid Tschöpe-Scheffler veranschaulicht in Ihrer Grafik (siehe unten) einige Faktoren, die dazu beitragen, dass Erziehung in der heutigen Zeit grundsätzlich schwieriger geworden ist (vgl. Tschöpe-Scheffler 2006, S. 10). Diesen Faktoren und den damit verbundenen Herausforderungen können Familien nur dann begegnen, wenn sie mit- und voneinander lernen, denn Eltern haben keinen eindeutigen Wissens- und Erfahrungsvorsprung mehr in allen Bereichen des alltäglichen Lebens (ebd., S. 10). Diese Gleichheit in Familien und das Aufeinanderbezogensein ist überlebenswichtig, denn Kinder und Erwachsene müssen (neue) Lebenskompetenzen erwerben, um in der postmodernen Welt zurechtzukommen (ebd., S. 10). The techniques employed in such analysis first took on a recognizably modern form in the 1970s, but their roots go back to the earliest days of motion picture technology in the late nineteenth century. This book presents original essays accompanied by written responses which together create a dialogue exploring early efforts at audio-visual sequence analysis and their common goal to capture the "whole" of the communicative situation. The first three chapters of this volume look at the film-based research of Gestalt psychologists in Berlin as well as psychologists in the orbit of Karl and Charlotte Bühler in Vienna in the first decades of the twentieth century. Most of these figures – along with many other Central European scholars of this era – were driven into exile in the United States after the rise of National Socialism in the 1930s. This scientific migration led to the cross-pollination of communication studies in America, an outcome visible in the leading project in interaction research of the mid-twentieth century, the Natural History of an Interview. The following two chapters examine this project in its historical context. The volume closes with a critical edition of a treasure from the archives: the transcript of a speech delivered by Ray Birdwhistell, a key participant in the Natural History of an Interview project and founder of kinesics.

The major debates in language acquisition theory today focus not on whether there are some sensitivities to syntactic information but rather which sensitivities are available to children and how they might be translated into the organizing principles that get syntactic learning off the ground. The Origins of Grammar presents a synthesis of work done by the authors, who have pioneered one of the most important methodological advances in language learning in the past decade: the intermodal preferential looking paradigm, which can be used to assess lexical and syntactic knowledge in children as young as 13 months. In addition to drawing together their groundbreaking empirical work, the authors use these results to describe a theory of language learning that emphasizes the role of multiple cues and forces in development. They show how infants shift their reliance on different aspects of the linguistic input, moving from a bias to attend to prosodic information to a reliance on semantic information, and finally to a reliance on the syntax itself. Viewing language acquisition as the product of a biased learner who takes advantage of the information available from a variety of sources in his or her environment, The Origins of Grammar provides a new way of thinking about the process of language comprehension. The analysis borrows insights from theories about the development of mental models, models of early cognitive development and systems theory, and is presented in a way that will be accessible to cognitive and developmental psychologists.
