Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Albert Low used the stories and inspirational pieces in this collection during talks that he gave over many years spent as a Zen teacher. Each story has a point to make that would be difficult to spell out in specific detail, but which has the potential to change the way we see the world. Stories and inspirational texts have always been used in this way. To see what he means, one only has to think of the parables of Jesus, the fables of Lafontaine and Aesop, the stories about the exploits of Mullah Nassr Eddin, the stories of Jalaluddin Rumi, and the famous Mahabharata of which the Bhagavad Gita forms a part.

Book excerpt: The planet had two unique elements. One was that it produced the galaxy's most desirable hallucinatory drug. The other was that it was a stock broker's paradise. The world was split into rich men's holdings - and every hour, every minute these were being traded on a continuous stock-market. Up and down went values as men conspired to seize others' properties, to push prices down and costs up. Their money game controlled everything else - the common people, workers, farmers, homes, lives, poverty and luxury . . . Earl Dumarest went there to find his next stake. Find the drug-gem or manipulate the market - two possibilities. But behind the scenes stood the advisors of the inhuman Cyclan, determined to fix the odds against Dumarest . . . Honey and all of its golden yellow, sweet, and sticky attributes may seem like the focus of this fictional poem and mixed media art. However, colorful images and vivid poetic lines shade light on the importance of bees in yielding flowers and fruits through the process of pollination. This book also reflects on family, how they get their honey, and somehow bonds them together. The development of the plot was carefully studied to give the words and added effect that completes the whole reading experience. The story telling is simple easy to understand and follow. Infants will absolutely enjoy their time spent with their parents as they read and follow the story.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: NECTAR OF BLESSED MIND is a collection of modern poems on man's eternal struggle for existence and his overcoming of all challenges with the power of love, faith, humanity and wisdom. The work also aims to provide an understanding of poverty and its massive impact on human life. The philosophies of life, identity crisis, life force, futility of human expectations, irony in love and relationship, inequality, the place of women in the society, spirituality, man's unseen bonding with nature, etc. form the major themes of the book. What strikes the author the most is the ironical relationship between life and death, and this is why death has been an important subject in his poetry. The simplicity and lucidity of language is thought-provoking to connect all the reader friends around the world and to make the theme conversant with the language, avoiding the 'paradox of language' in modern poetry.

Shanker as he shares his personal memoir, offering profound insights into his achievements, challenges, personal growth, and reflections that serve as a motivating story of overcoming obstacles and pursuing success. This book ‘Mirror of Fortune’ is such an instrument to know the circumstances and conditions of life through astrology that leads to recognizing the signs of favorable and unfavorable circumstances. Those who believe in and practice Jyotish, need it at every step. Yet, sometimes when a person with dexterity in this sphere is not found, people have to face serious problems. In today’s life, those having insufficient knowledge and who have traveled frequently and stayed in jungles and deserts too face difficulties. The sphere of astrology is very wide. One should have mastery over its different aspects to comprehend satisfactorily. Unless and until one attains deep knowledge and expertise his sincerity and honesty remain dubious. Meanwhile, whatever I could gain through my study and experience I have put together in this book. I take no pride in doing so as I am not an erudite scholar who is presenting his views to impress readers of his merits and accomplishments. To me, there is no difference between fame and the sun on a rainy day.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: No comic author from the ancient world features the gods as often as Lucian of Samosata, yet the meaning of his works remain contested. He is either seen as undermining the gods and criticizing religion through his humor, or as not engaging with religion at all, featuring the gods as literary characters. His humor was traditionally viewed as a symptom of decreased religiosity, but that model of religious decline in the second century CE has been invalidated by ancient historians. Understanding these works now requires understanding what it means to imagine as laughing and laughable gods who are worshipped in everyday cult. In Lucian's Laughing Gods, author Inger N. I. Kuin argues that in ancient Greek thought, comedic depictions of divinities were not necessarily desacralizing. In religion, laughter was accommodated to such an extent as to actually be constituent of some ritual practices, and the gods were imagined either to reciprocate or push back against human laughter—they were never deflated by it. Lucian uses the gods as comic characters, but in doing so, he does not automatically negate their power. Instead, with his depiction of the gods and of how they relate to humans—frivolous, insecure, callous—Lucian challenges the dominant theologies of his day as he refuses to interpret the gods as ethical models. This book contextualizes Lucian’s comedic performances in the intellectual life of the second century CE Roman East broadly, including philosophy, early Christian thought, and popular culture (dance, fables, standard jokes, etc.). His texts are analyzed as providing a window onto non-elite attitudes and experiences, and methodologies from religious studies and the sociology of religion are used to conceptualize Lucian’s engagement with the religiosity of his contemporaries.
