I’ve never forgotten about it after all these years, and now that I’m old enough, I’m going to convince the billionaire to show me how to use it … … but what happens when I get pregnant? Holy cow, call the fire department because this blaze is out of control! Josie’s got the worst crush on a man who likes to be called “Daddy,” but will she consent to Cyrus’s dark and dirty ways? Buckle up for a whirlwind ride and be sure to take a deep breath because you’re going to be hyperventilating with NEED by the end! Book excerpt: From the author of the classic Mom’s House, Dad’s House, the essential guide for kids on how to stay strong and succeed in life when parents separate, divorce, or get married again. Isolina Ricci’s Mom’s House, Dad’s House has been the gold standard for inspiring and supporting divorcing and remarrying parents for more than twenty-five years. With her new book, Dr. Isa adapts her time-tested advice on maneuvering the emotional, logistical, and legal realities of separation, divorce, and stepfamilies to speak directly to children. Alongside practical ways to cope with big changes she offers older children and their families key resiliency tools that kids can use now and the rest of their lives. Kids and families are encouraged to believe in themselves, to take heart, and to plan for their lives ahead. Mom’s House, Dad’s House for Kids is packed with practical tips, frank answers, easy-to-use lists, “train your brain” ideas, reproducible worksheets, and things to try when words just won’t come out right. Kids will learn how to: · Deal with parents living apart, schedules, and dueling house rules · Settle comfortably in one home or two · Stay out of the “miserable middle” when parents fight · Manage stress, guilt, change, fear, and other feelings · Stay connected with parents, relatives, and the “right” friends · Appreciate the gifts (and deal with the gripes) of their new version of family · Feel better FAST! Kids can’t get their parents back together, but they can help themselves get stronger and go on to succeed in life. This book shows them how.

I stared, I gulped, my heart skipped a beat, my stomach twisted and I can feel the butterflies, linger and a cold chill ran and traveled through my vein, flowing through my blood like lava. The man before me was heavenly, I could barely look away. From the way his dark grey orbs stared back at me to the way his jet black hair fell spiking on his shoulder, my whole body shuddered uncontrollably from the sensation growing in my system. My eyes trailed up to his sharp jawline, his straight pointed nose, his tick, long eyebrows and eyelashes to his sinful, tempting, luscious lips. Consciously, I ran over my lips but the sound of my dad clearing his throat pulled me out from my trace as a slightly jerked, feeling electrified. "Tristan, I went with you to meet my friend, Dr. Sean" My dad introduced the sexy, demigod man with that sinful body of his. I quivered again. "Sean, meet my son, Tristan" Dad introduced me but my eyes remained cemented on him and I could swear I saw a spark in those dark orbs but it was gone as soon as it came, making me doubt if I really saw it. I watched him run him over his reddish, luring lips while he ran down my body, making my insides burn with a sudden fire I had never felt before...and then, he spoke… "Nice to meet you kitten" And from that moment on, I knew it was over for my heart. From that moment I knew I was in love with MY FATHER'S FRIEND!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Comic and television star Tim Conway (The Carol Burnett Show, McHale's Navy, Dorf) enjoyed enormous popular appeal. In this humorous, loving, and surprising memoir, Tim's eldest of his six children, Kelly, reveals that the Conway home life was as riotous as some of her father's legendary comedy sketches. Kelly Conway allows readers an intimate look at an American childhood set in 1970s and 80s Los Angeles, from the studios of CBS to the racetrack of Santa Anita Park where her father taught his kids the art of horse betting. Tim Conway took his hilarious creativity off the set to the family home, where he acted as the ringmaster to six unruly lion cubs—and often lit the fuse of their short-tempered mother, Mary Anne. Kelly takes us through the fascinating world of entertainment from the lens of her dad’s television stardom to her own career in costume design and wardrobe styling, using the lessons her father taught her about holding her own in the often cruel world of show business. But it’s not until Kelly realizes that she must find the courage to fight for her dad when he faces a devastating life change that her steadfast commitment to him becomes clear—although it will mean losing lifelong relationships, and at times, facing harsh criticism. My Dad's Funnier Than Your Dad is Kelly’s love letter to her father, an account of the warm, laugh-filled world of her childhood. And when life brings sadness instead of smiles, it’s the mutual respect and fierce devotion that Kelly shares with her famous father which ultimately defines the true meaning of love.

This bundle offers books four, five, and six in one convenient file, with over 150,000 words of reading. In VEXED ON A VISIT (Book #4), summer has arrived, and Lacey is delighted when her chef boyfriend surprises her with an offer for a long weekend trip, a romantic getaway into the neighboring seaside towns of the British countryside, with her beloved dog, and a chance to go antiquing. But Lacey is even more surprised when her family shows up from New York on a surprise visit—and when they want to come along! Even worse, Lacey, in a neighboring town, finds herself in the midst of a murder scene. And once again, with her reputation on the line, she may be the only one who can solve it. In KILLED WITH A KISS (Book #5), on a romantic daytrip in the English countryside, Lacey lucks out in an antique market and stumbles upon an incredible find. She has high hopes as she makes it the centerpiece of her next auction. But as summer is coming to a close, two high-rollers come into town and duke it out over the antique, their egos as big as their wallets. When one of them wins but loses the auction on a technicality, chaos ensues. The only thing that makes it worse is when one ends up dead. Lacey finds herself in the fight of her life to save her business and her reputation—and, with the help of her beloved dog, to solve the mysterious death. In PERISHED BY A PAINTING (Book #6), Fall has arrived in Wilfordshire, bringing with it Fall festivals of food, charming holidays and refreshing return to simple normalcy. To celebrate their new proposal, Lacey and Tom finally get a romantic countryside trip together, and Lacey is thrilled to stumble upon a rare painting in the most unexpected place—a shack on the side of the road. But Lacey has no idea how rare and valuable his painting actually is. When she finds out the shocking news, she grapples with whether she should return it—when a shocking twist and a dead body put her right in the middle of a crime that she must, with her beloved dog at her side, solve—or else lose all that she has worked for. Books #7-#9 are also available!

Book excerpt: Five decades ago, I was challenged to read the Moynihan Report (1965). Then and now, I take issue with much of the content, which smacks of deficit thinking, blaming the victim, and a blindness or almost total disregard for how systemic racism and social injustices contribute to family structures. I recall being professionally and personally offended by interpretations of single?parent families, which were often negative and hopeless. Moral development, criminal activity, poor educational outcomes, poverty, and apathy of many kinds were placed squarely on the shoulders of these families, especially if the families were/are headed by Black mothers. Eurocentric and middle class notions of ‘real’ families like those depicted on TV shows and movies dominate, then and now, what is deemed healthy in terms of family structures – with the polemic conclusion that nuclear families are the best and sometimes only structure in which children must be raised. These colorblind, economic blind, and racist blind studies, reports, theories, and folktales have failed to do justice to the families in which there is one caregiver. Their stories of woe and mayhem make the news and guide policies and procedures. The stories of children who have been resilient have been unheard and silenced, they have been under?reported and relegated to the status of ‘exception to the rule’. Perhaps they are exceptions, but there are more exceptions than we may know. This book is designed with those stories of resilience and success in mind. The book is not an attempt to glorify single?parent families, but such families are prevalent and increasing. High divorce rates are impactful. And some parents have chosen to not marry, which is their right. While not glorifying single?parent families, we are also not demonizing them or telling their stories void of context. Yes, income will often be low(er), time will be compromised when divided between offspring, work, and other obligations. Likewise, we are not glorifying two?parent families as being ideal; their context matters too. How healthy are married couples who don’t really love or even like each other? How healthy are those parents who have separate sleeping arrangements/bedrooms? How healthy are those families who have oppositional parenting styles and goals for their children? This is the 50th anniversary of the Moynihan Report, and I am concerned that another 50 years will pass that fails to balance out the stories of single?parent families, mainly those whose children succeed and defy the odds so often unexpected of them. I agree with Cohen, co?author of the updated report: "The preoccupation with strengthening marriage as the best route to reducing poverty and inequality has been a policymaking folly”. Further, 50 years after Moynihan released the controversial report, The Negro Family: The Case for National Action, a new brief by the Institute for Women's Policy Research (IWPR) and the Council on Contemporary Families (CCF) titled, "Moynihan's Half Century: Have We Gone to Hell in a Hand Basket?," finds that the changes in family structure that concerned him have indeed continued, becoming widespread among Whites as well, but that they do not explain recent trends in poverty and inequality. In fact, a number of the social ills Moynihan assumed would accompany these changes in family structure—such as rising rates of poverty, school failure, crime, and violence—have instead decreased.
