Book Synopsis For The Sake of My Sanity by : Yvonne White
Download or read book For The Sake of My Sanity written by Yvonne White and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2023-06-15 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Speaking the truth of life realities, having internal showers. As a child of God, sometimes we think we can run away from our personal pain. Some of us get distracted with helping everyone else, while sinking in deep despair, silently going insane even though no one really knows but then something happened like the death of your children and you find yourself standing at the brink of insanity, too weak to pull yourself from the edge. As a single mother, left with the charge of being the bread winner, protector, councilor, to give guidance and emotional support to your children even though you find yourself trapped in the body of a child, dealing with traumas from the past. When you hit rock bottom, you hit it hard, either you will sink or swim. It is not a shame to fall, when you fall there is nowhere else to go, but up. So my writing is like my personal shrink, which allows me to maintain my sanity in the era of Covid-19, the social unrest that came about with George Floyd’s death and the tension you feel as an immigrant and the war for mask wearing ‘to mask or not to mask’ ‘to vaccine or not to vaccine’. Then suddenly everything changed when I got a phone call from Jamaica said my son died in a car accident because someone ran the red light while he was on his way to work. It made me feel like someone shot me in the heart, leaving me paralyzed with a permanent hole in my heart. Just when I felt like I was coming to grips of losing my first child who passed away in 2018, God is helping me to deal with the pain by using me to help someone else to bear their pain. I write to stay sane.

Book Synopsis Conversations in Poetry: Take Charge of Your Life by 'Preserving Your Sanity' at All Cost! by : Miriam G. Aw
Download or read book Conversations in Poetry: Take Charge of Your Life by 'Preserving Your Sanity' at All Cost! written by Miriam G. Aw and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2009-09-29 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a book of thought-provoking conversant poetry speaking about how to 'deal with,' 'distance yourself,' and/or 'break away,' from negative-minded people who don't mean you well in life, and/or who prefer to live their lives with confusion, stupidity, ignorance, and ungodliness. Sadly, there are daughters & sons who've fallen victim to 'emotional blackmail' by a loved one who haven't wrestled nor confronted their own past demons for so long that its toll has become painfully burdensome. And no matter what you say or do, it's never enough, which is why it is so critical to "Preserve Your Sanity At All Cost," to increase the length of time of your existence on Earth to take care of self and your family! In this book you'll find that you (or someone else you know) are not alone when experiencing negative situations of any kind, which is why this subject of maintaining one's own sanity should be addressed publicly without candy-coating the truthfulness about negative human behavior.

Book Synopsis Who Do We Choose To Be? by : Margaret J. Wheatley
Download or read book Who Do We Choose To Be? written by Margaret J. Wheatley and published by Berrett-Koehler Publishers. This book was released on 2017-06-19 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On the twenty-fifth anniversary of the publication of her classic Leadership and the New Science, bestselling author Margaret Wheatley once again turns to the new science of living systems to help leaders persevere in a time of great turmoil. I know it is possible for leaders to use their power and influence, their insight and compassion, to lead people back to an understanding of who we are as human beings, to create the conditions for our basic human qualities of generosity, contribution, community and love to be evoked no matter what. I know it is possible to experience grace and joy in the midst of tragedy and loss. I know it is possible to create islands of sanity in the midst of wildly disruptive seas. I know it is possible because I have worked with leaders over many years in places that knew chaos and breakdown long before this moment. And I have studied enough history to know that such leaders always arise when they are most needed. Now it's our turn.
Download or read book Back to Sanity written by Steve Taylor and published by Hay House, Inc. This book was released on 2012-06-04 with total page 297 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Have you ever thought that there might be something wrong with human beings, even that we might be slightly insane? Why is it that so many human beings are filled with a restless discontent, and an insatiable desire for material goods, status and power? Why is it that human history has been filled with endless conflict, oppression and inequality? In this ground-breaking and inspiring book, Steve Taylor shows that we do suffer from a psychological disorder, which he refers to as humania, or ego-madness. This disorder is so close to us that we don't realize it's there, but it's the root cause of all our dysfunctional behaviour, both as individuals and as a species. Back to Sanity explains the characteristics of humania, where it stems from and how it leads to the madness of materialism, status-seeking, warfare, inequality and other symptoms of our insanity. But equally importantly, Back to Sanity shows how we can heal this mental disorder and allow the fleeting moments of harmony that we all experience from time to time to become our permanent state of being.

Book excerpt: THE SCHOOL OF LIFE IS DEDICATED TO EXPLORING LIFE'S BIG QUESTIONS IN HIGHLY-PORTABLE PAPERBACKS, FEATURING FRENCH FLAPS AND DECKLE EDGES, THAT THE NEW YORK TIMES CALLS "DAMNABLY CUTE." WE DON'T HAVE ALL THE ANSWERS, BUT WE WILL DIRECT YOU TOWARDS A VARIETY OF USEFUL IDEAS THAT ARE GUARANTEED TO STIMULATE, PROVOKE, AND CONSOLE. An Economist Best Book of the Year Everyone accepts the importance of physical health; isn't it just as important to aim for the mental equivalent? Philippa Perry has come to the rescue with How to Stay Sane -- a maintenance manual for the mind. Years of working as a psychotherapist showed Philippa Perry what approaches produced positive change in her clients and how best to maintain good mental health. In How to Stay Sane, she has taken these principles and applied them to self-help. Using ideas from neuroscience and sound psychological theory, she shows us how to better understand ourselves. Her idea is that if we know how our minds form and develop, we are less at the mercy of unknown unconscious processes. In this way, we can learn to be the master of our feelings and not their slave. This is a smart, pithy, readable book that everyone with even a passing interest in their psychological health will find useful.

Book Synopsis The Myth of Sanity by : Martha Stout
Download or read book The Myth of Sanity written by Martha Stout and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2002-02-26 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why does a gifted psychiatrist suddenly begin to torment his own beloved wife? How can a ninety-pound woman carry a massive air conditioner to the second floor of her home, install it in a window unassisted, and then not remember how it got there? Why would a brilliant feminist law student ask her fiancé to treat her like a helpless little girl? How can an ordinary, violence-fearing businessman once have been a gun-packing vigilante prowling the crime districts for a fight? A startling new study in human consciousness, The Myth of Sanity is a landmark book about forgotten trauma, dissociated mental states, and multiple personality in everyday life. In its groundbreaking analysis of childhood trauma and dissociation and their far-reaching implications in adult life, it reveals that moderate dissociation is a normal mental reaction to pain and that even the most extreme dissociative reaction-multiple personality-is more common than we think. Through astonishing stories of people whose lives have been shattered by trauma and then remade, The Myth of Sanity shows us how to recognize these altered mental states in friends and family, even in ourselves.
