Book excerpt: The author of Book of Shadows digs deep into the practices and principles of Witchcraft to provide a comprehensive guidebook that anyone—novices and seasoned practitioners alike—can use to incorporate the beauty and power ofWicca into their own daily lives. Phyllis Curott’s first book, Book of Shadows, was an inspirational, spiritual memoir that chronicled her journey from Ivy League-educated, New York City attorney to Wiccan High Priestess. By inviting readers of all faiths to share in her own personal transformation, Phyllis debunked many of the myths surrounding Wicca and revealed it for what it really is: a spiritual movement whose tenets of Goddess worship and reverence for Nature were a great deal more accessible and familiar than she’d ever expected. Far from being just another mechanical spell book, Witch Crafting is the first book to offer readers not only the how-to of Witchcraft, but also the why-to, explaining the profound spiritual tenets behind Wiccan techniques. Filled with both traditional and innovative shamanic practices, Phyllis also provides an empowering new definition of magic and reexamines the ethics under which Witchcraft is practiced, offering a groundbreaking alternative to the Threefold Law. With enchanting stories from Curott’s own experiences, Witch Crafting will also teach you how to: • Master the secret arts of effective spellcasting • Create sacred space and personal rituals • Perform divinations for spiritual insight and earthly success • Tap into the power of altered states, such as dreaming, meditation, prayer, and trance • Keep a magical journal and create your own Book of Shadows Rich with detailed advice for making magic, working with Nature, and finding the Divine within, as well as thought-provoking evaluations of this remarkable spirituality, Witch Crafting is the special volume that you’ve been searching for. Whether you are a beginner or have been practicing Witchcraft for years, whether you worship in a coven or on your own, Witch Crafting is the ideal handbook for you, or anyone seeking to unlock the divine power that makes real magic happen and experience the ecstasy, energy, and gifts of the Universe more fully.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Observing What Is Not Happening is a continuation of the author's first memoir, Where Your Knowledge Ends Is Where Mine Begins. Six chapters of this second memoir are ageless; they stem from the Word of God. They are predicated on the Word of God. Observing what isn't happening is a remark first made by Rush Limbaugh. And it was elected to be the title of my second memoir because through the wisdom, knowledge, and understanding from the Holy Spirit, I know all the ways of Man. The ways of Man are an open book to me. Man's behavior, actions, and attitudes are so obviously pronounced to me. Observing what is not happening is predicting what Man will do regardless of how long he tarries; Man will eventually do what I predict. I'm writing this book at age thirty three, the same age Jesus Christ was before He departed the world. The main characters in this memoir are God Almighty, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. Archangel Lucifer, Apostle Excel, Rush Limbaugh and Iifi are other prominent characters. Everything I say in this memoir stems from the Word of God.

Book excerpt: When the Longevity Gene was released into the wild one year ago, 400,000,000 people were suddenly returned to a state of youthful vigor. All facets of human culture across the globe are under tremendous pressure. In the US, access to the longevity treatment is the central issue in a bitter Presidential race that is tearing the nation apart. Already high unemployment is exploding as those who have become young again swell the workforce. Many of the rich and powerful are aligned behind a candidate who opposes any further distribution of the longevity gene in the name of protecting the public from a dangerous untested technology. But these same forces are at work behind the scenes to ensure they have access to the longevity treatment. If they are successful in suppressing this technology and keeping it exclusively for the elite, the split between the haves and the have-nots will not be only about wealth and power, but life itself.

Book excerpt: Composed by an unknown author in early thirteenth-century France, The Quest of the Holy Grail is a fusion of Arthurian legend and Christian symbolism, reinterpreting ancient Celtic myth as a profound spiritual fable. It recounts the quest of the knights of Camelot - the simple Perceval, the thoughtful Bors, the rash Gawain, the weak Lancelot and the saintly Galahad - as they journey through danger and temptation to reach the elusive Holy Grail. But only one of them is judged worthy to see the mysteries within the sacred vessel, and look upon the ineffable. Enfused with tragic grandeur and an aura of mysticism, The Quest is an absorbing and radiant allegory of man's perilous search for divine grace, and had a profound influence on later Arthurian romances and versions of the Grail legend. For more than seventy years, Penguin has been the leading publisher of classic literature in the English-speaking world. With more than 1,700 titles, Penguin Classics represents a global bookshelf of the best works throughout history and across genres and disciplines. Book excerpt: Experience Mary Magdalene as a rising teacher in today's spiritual arena. Through 25 insightful messages, Mary focuses on issues that often aren't addressed by spiritual leaders -- uniting the Feminine and Masculine, healing body shame, the sacredness of sexuality, and emotional mastery -- explaining how these are essential for living in the heart. Mary's universal teaching, paired with the author's clarifying commentary, makes this award-winning book a treasure-trove of Feminine guidance and spiritual truths. Mary describes her partnership with Yeshua (Jesus) as loving equals, including being co-teachers for their shared work. Mary's role was to bring the Feminine aspect of their teaching, which they knew the world wouldn't be ready to receive for 2000 years. In sharing her long-hidden teaching, Mary shows us what it is to be a powerful, spiritual woman in complete union with her beloved male partner (Yeshua) and the Divine Masculine. MARY MAGDALENE BECKONS was birthed over a one month period, when Mary Magdalene came daily to author Mercedes Kirkel with her extraordinary messages. Kirkel soon realized Mary was downloading a book, chapter by chapter, with Mary and Yeshua as the inspiring models. Whether you're new to Mary Magdalene's path or a longtime admirer of hers, MARY MAGDALENE BECKONS is a gift to your soul. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A long time ago, back in the 1960s, a close friend asked me to go along with him to a book signing in Sausalito, California. I was introduced to the author. He was a recognizable and quite famous old man. As a portrait artist, I looked closely at the bright blue eyes of a once-handsome man. He said, "Will you come and visit me in San Francisco sometime?" "Yes, I will," I replied and didn't think much about it. But within a few weeks my friend was asked by the old author to visit, and I was asked to go along. We arrived that morning to a sunny, tiny apartment. We greeted the old man, and he ushered us in. His apartment walls were covered with newspaper clippings, neatly framed. There was not a bare spot among all the signed photos of famous movie stars of days gone by. Evidently he had been very well known in the movie world too. He sat us down for a cup of tea. Then he turned to me and said, "Can I tell you things of your life? Experiences you've had and didn't have and your destiny. I will record it and put it on reel to reel for you." "Of course," I said, as I was very curious of what he might know about me. And so he talked about me and was very accurate. Then he took my hand and moved closer to me, close to my face. He said, "You have something to tell the world, the entire world. I don't know what it is, but it is the entire world." But all was forgotten for more than fifty years. A few weeks ago, Michael and I were talking about the old man. What if this was all destined--Michael's gift of seeing in the spirit as Kirilian afterimage? My search for healing and search for God? Were we destined to be together? So we decided to ask! "Was the old man right? Was I destined to write this book and tell what has been revealed?" Michael touched my head and the touch revealed, YES. I asked out loud, "Who is the book for?" The touch revealed, THOSE WHO SEEK AND LOVE GOD, THE LOST WHO NEED HELP. "Is Michael a prophet?" we asked. NO. "What is Michael? What is this ability he has?" we asked. The touch revealed, UNIQUE. And so each day, as I study scripture, I ask the questions, some about the future. There are some unanswered questions. The Lord Jesus gave these statements without my questioning: HEALING OF THE WOUNDED SPIRIT. SEVERE NUCLEAR ACCIDENT INDIA. LEARN SEED PROPAGATION. PREPARE. MY RETURN. REJOICE. The material from the touch is growing into the next book. The next book will probably be easier to write.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is one of Dr. Murphy’s best books, on a par with his classic The Power of your Subconscious Mind. It explains the difference between the conscious and subconscious mind, and how the two work together to create the reality of the individual. As in Murphy’s other books, examples are given of how people overcame problems or manifested their desires by changing their minds through belief, affirmation, and visualization. The chapters deal with: HEALING PRAYER BECOMING SPIRITUAL-MINDED THE CREATIVITY OF THOUGHT THE MEANING OF EVIL THE MEANING OF LIFE CONTROLLING ONE’S FEAR THE POWER OF SUGGESTION MARRIAGE, SEX, AND DIVORCE In his very engaging style, the author teaches us how to use both phases of the mind synchronously, harmoniously, and peacefully in order to bring harmony, health, and abundance into our lives. He also explains that Biblical statements are parables, allegories, metaphors, similes, and cryptic statements, and are thus not to be taken literally. The main message is that we are all children of the infinite, born to win, and to live in the joyous expectancy of the best. Exclusive to and approved by the estate of Joseph Murphy

Book excerpt: For more than 50 years John Clute has been reviewing science fiction and fantasy. As Scores demonstrates, his devotion to the task of understanding the central literatures of our era has not slackened. There are jokes in Scores, and curses, and tirades, and apologies, and riffs; but every word of every review, in the end, is about how we understand the stories we tell about the world. Following on from his two previous books of collected reviews (Strokes and Look at the Evidence) this book collects reviews from a wide variety of sources, but mostly from Interzone, the New York Review of Science Fiction, and Science Fiction Weekly. Where it has seemed possible to do so without distorting contemporary responses to books, these reviews have been revised, sometimes extensively. 125 review articles, over 200 books reviewed in more than 214,000 words.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: William Kinderman's detailed study of Parsifal, described by the composer as his "last card," explores the evolution of the text and music of this inexhaustible yet highly controversial music drama across Wagner's entire career. This book offers a reassessment of the ideological and political history of Parsifal, shedding new light on the connection of Wagner's legacy to the rise of National Socialism in Germany. The compositional genesis is traced through many unfamiliar manuscript sources, revealing unsuspected models and veiled connections to Wagner's earlier works. Fresh analytic perspectives are revealed, casting the dramatic meaning of Parsifal in a new light. Much debated aspects of the work, such as Kundry's death at the conclusion, are discussed in the context of its stage history. Path-breaking as well is Kinderman's analysis of the religious and ideological context of Parsifal. During the half-century after the composer's death, the Wagner family and the so-called Bayreuth circle sought to exploit Wagner's work for political purposes, thereby promoting racial nationalism and anti-Semitism. Hitherto unnoticed connections between Hitler and Wagner's legacy at Bayreuth are explored here, while differences between the composer's politics as an 1849 revolutionary and the later response of his family to National Socialism are weighed in a nuanced account. Kinderman combines new historical research, sensitive aesthetic criticism, and probing philosophical reflection in this most intensive examination of Wagner's culminating music drama.
