Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: #1 NATIONAL BESTSELLER #1 INTERNATIONAL BESTSELLER What does everyone in the modern world need to know? Renowned psychologist Jordan B. Peterson's answer to this most difficult of questions uniquely combines the hard-won truths of ancient tradition with the stunning revelations of cutting-edge scientific research. Humorous, surprising and informative, Dr. Peterson tells us why skateboarding boys and girls must be left alone, what terrible fate awaits those who criticize too easily, and why you should always pet a cat when you meet one on the street. What does the nervous system of the lowly lobster have to tell us about standing up straight (with our shoulders back) and about success in life? Why did ancient Egyptians worship the capacity to pay careful attention as the highest of gods? What dreadful paths do people tread when they become resentful, arrogant and vengeful? Dr. Peterson journeys broadly, discussing discipline, freedom, adventure and responsibility, distilling the world's wisdom into 12 practical and profound rules for life. 12 Rules for Life shatters the modern commonplaces of science, faith and human nature, while transforming and ennobling the mind and spirit of its readers.

Book Synopsis My Sea My Life My World by : P.Sukumaran
Download or read book My Sea My Life My World written by P.Sukumaran and published by Notion Press. This book was released on 2019-12-12 with total page 365 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Ocean is the heart of the planet. Water covers more than two-thirds of the Earth's surface. All living things, from tiny cyanobacteria to giant blue whales, need water to survive. Without water, life as we know it would not exist. And life exists wherever there is water. Life in the ocean depends on phytoplankton, mostly microscopic organisms that float at the surface and, through photosynthesis, produce about half of the world's oxygen. The oceans are home to millions of Earth's plants and animals—from tiny single-celled organisms to the gargantuan blue whale, the planet's largest living animal. Fish, octopuses, squid, eels, dolphins, and whales swim the open waters while crabs, octopuses, starfish, oysters, and snails crawl and scoot along the ocean bottom. The oceans hold about 321 million cubic miles (1.34 billion cubic kilometers) of water, which is roughly 97 percent of Earth's water supply. Seawater's weight is about 3.5 percent dissolved salt; oceans are also rich in chlorine, magnesium, and calcium. The oceans absorb the sun's heat, transferring it to the atmosphere and distributing it around the world. This conveyor belt of heat drives global weather patterns and helps regulate temperatures on land, acting as a heater in the winter and an air conditioner in the summer. Geographers divide the ocean into five major basins: the Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, Arctic, and Southern. Smaller ocean regions such as the Mediterranean Sea, Gulf of Mexico, and the Bay of Bengal are called seas, gulfs, and bays. Inland bodies of saltwater such as the Caspian Sea and the Great Salt Lake are distinct from the world's oceans. As sailors, we also serve as educators, ambassadors and advocates of a lifestyle on the water. Together we share a passion for the ocean, and an avid desire to keep our playground clean and safe forever. Waterways are crucial to our health, for us and future generations. With more than 60% of the world’s population living on the coastline, we all depend on a healthy sea just as much as these beautiful creatures. Life do not exists without water. I join you all to thank VARUNA DEVA for blessing us with life on earth and seek his continues blessings. His beauty at night , with stars and moon is beyond description. Many nights I have spent hours admiring and enjoying it. Don’t ask me my reactions when he is angry with choppy seas.

Download or read book Walk Like a Man written by Ann Baker and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2001-10-14 with total page 108 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For years I have been saying “as soon as this is over, I’m going to write a book.” Well, it’s over…at least the physical part…and the walk has been long and hard. Clay, my second son, and I discussed writing a book for years. I’m sure his version would have been much different. I wanted him to write his own story — finding out he was gay, his feelings, and his experiences while traveling his life in California, his experiences with the new gay disease. He never did. He just lived it. His actions, his activities, and his contributions to the world are telling their own story of his life. As I was chronicling this walk, I realized Clay’s story is a story about Clay, as a person, me, as a person, and the people in our path. This book is dedicated to Clay, who was a “mixed blessing,” and to the bodies strewn along the path of the epidemic called AIDS, hewn out of history. It is my hope and the hope of those who knew and loved Clay that our experience will make someone else’s walk less painful, less lonely.

Book Synopsis Memoirs of a Friend of God by : Donald Nason
Download or read book Memoirs of a Friend of God written by Donald Nason and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2024-05-09 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I wrote this book to show people God is not about religion He is about relationship. As I wrote, I asked Him to inspire me to remember the significance of our walk together so to help people find that relationship and encourage my fellow believers. I do not claim to be a theologian, I am just a country boy called by God into ministry. He has carried me throughout my life providing rescue, needed help, and sustaining me through beautiful Spring days as well as the ferocious storms that came my way. God has helped me write this book for two major reasons. First to supply enough evidence for anyone seeking to know God the significance of His Spirit providing the "abundant Life". I believe that life is available to everyone in God's family. My second reason is to encourage believers by showing them how God has sustained me through every day of my life. This is how that life works for me. It is not about "Riches, Status, or Fame". The "Abundant Life" is being available to God and seeing Him at work in our lives. When I realize God has accomplished something totally beyond my capability, knowing it has to be Him, that is the "Abundant Life." I can tell you firsthand, that gives me an anointing of joy from His Spirit that is far beyond anything the world has to offer!!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 21 A stirring story of hope and perseverance, a story of a little girl uprooted from a caring vineyard and planted in a strange land. It's a chronicle of faith that took nearly fifty years to come to fruition. It tells of the faith and humbleness of a child that remains the author's greatest attributes. Lenita Jane's story is an inspiration. It reminds us that we may not be able to control the events in our lives, but we decide how it will affect us. Lenita's story encourages us to keep the faith, to give out but never give up, to hope against all odds. 21
Book Synopsis The Neuropsychodynamic Treatment of Self-Deficits by : Joseph Palombo
Download or read book The Neuropsychodynamic Treatment of Self-Deficits written by Joseph Palombo and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-12-19 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Neuropsychodynamic Treatment of Self-Deficits examines how to work psychoanalytically with patients to address the problems that result from neuropsychological impairments, exploring the latest advances in understanding and treatment, while also addressing the concerns that clinicians may have in providing treatment. Patients with disorders such as ADHD, dyslexia, and executive function disorders can often feel shame, and develop defenses as a result of their disorders. These defenses can then become overgeneralized and lead to future dysfunctional feelings, thoughts and behaviors. For therapists, the challenge is to find ways of responding to these patients and to help them deal with their issues at the level of the multiple domains of self-experience, rather than at the single level of their intrapsychic dynamics. This book proposes a new neuropsychodynamic perspective that is bound together by a metatheory, deriving from dynamic systems theory. Joseph Palombo breaks new ground in his consistent application of non-linear dynamic systems theory and a levels-of-analysis perspective. The framework suggested conceives of the therapeutic process as a collaborative effort in which each member of the dyad makes a unique contribution to the process. Change agents that permit patients to benefit from therapeutic interventions include the relationship between patient and therapist, the understanding that emerges from the identification of the self-deficits, and the proactive engagement of the patient’s sense of agency. The great advantage of Palombo’s framework is that it permits the integration of a broad set of domains of experience that include the neuropsychological, the introspective, and the interpersonal. This book will allow the reader to become familiar with the types of patients that have neuropsychological deficits, providing an understanding of the psychodynamics of these conditions and enabling better preparedness to address psychological needs. More important, Palombo also makes the underlying case that an understanding of brain function is critical to any assistance such patients may need. Covering work with children, adolescents, and adults, The Neuropsychodynamic Treatment of Self-Deficits is the first book to offer a guide to understanding and working with patients with a range of neuropsychological disorders from a broadly psychoanalytic perspective. It will appeal to psychoanalysts, psychotherapists, and clinical psychologists, as well as clinical social workers, family therapists, and mental health nurses.

Book Synopsis Purity's Big Payoff / Premarital Sex Is a Big Rip-Off by : Donna Lee Schillinger
Download or read book Purity's Big Payoff / Premarital Sex Is a Big Rip-Off written by Donna Lee Schillinger and published by The Quilldriver. This book was released on 2011-05 with total page 118 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Winner! 2012 Christian Small Publisher's Book of the Year in young adult (12-18) category. Add this book to your arsenal in the battle to remain pure! The most difficult task in the life of a Christian single today is maintaining purity until marriage. The payoff is perfect love and sex, just as our Creator intended. But if that’s so awesome, why aren’t more people choosing it? And how can premarital sex be so bad if so many people are doing it and loving it? People who were virgins when they married aren’t usually the type to kiss and tell. And when premarital sex goes wrong, no one wants to Tweet it. This awkward silence from both contingents isn’t helping the next generation to decide well on the issue of premarital sex. Purity’s Big Payoff/Premarital Sex is a Big Rip-off is a collection of 17 first-person narratives about successfully waiting for marriage to have sex – or not. Contributors on both sides of the issue candidly share in face-reddening detail what they learned on their way to the wedding bed. Young people aiming to remain pure will be encouraged and learn practical strategies for resisting sexual temptation. Those who wish they had waited will learn that it’s never too late to restore purity with God’s grace. (This book is two-faced. One side is dedicated to purity, then turned over and flipped upside down, the other side is dedicated to premarital sex. Thus the last page of the purity book is immediately followed by the last page of the premarital sex book, but upside down, and vice versa. Got it?)
