The woman who wrote the journal was diagnosed with Lung Cancer in December of 2006 and her goal was to help people understand what it was like living and coping with the disease on a daily basis. She wrote about her everyday life, her Chemo and Radiation treatments, her trip to Seattle for Cyber Knife treatment. She wanted people to know that it was possible to lead a somewhat normal life even though the prognosis wasnt good. She tried to give people an insight into thought process that a person with Lung Cancer goes through. The author bared her soul in these articles in order help others with cancer or who had loved ones with the disease. Ann Keefe was my wife, she passed away on April 15th 2009 and I had her Journey of Faith, Hope & Health published in her memory.

Book excerpt: I didn’t share my story to hurt anyone or boast about anything that I have accomplished in life, but I decided to share it to redeem and restore the years that were taken from me through hurt, disappointment and pain. I believe this story is going to help someone struggling in the same areas that I had to deal with. No man is exempt from the trials of life and just as I had to be restored, so do you. Anything, any situation or relationship that has tried to keep you from experiencing God’s best plan for your life has to cease when you know who you are in Him. God has equipped us all with His word to use as a weapon to fight off anything that is not of Him. As Nelson Mandela said, “What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived, it is the difference we have made in the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.” I truly believe that, and that is why this book was born. The fight I had to endure throughout my life for my family and myself was not a flesh and blood fight, as I stated several times throughout my book, it was a spiritual battle. To be successful in a spiritual battle, you must be equipped to do so. You have to know what your weapons of warfare are. I recommend that you equip yourself with the best and that is the word of God. My story was told to bring hope to the brokenhearted and peace to the wounded and worried. I desire that through my honesty and transparency, those that are confused will get an understanding and the knowledge that they need to find their way and be patient in the process. I want you to know that you are never alone when you join God’s army. Every created being has their cross to carry, and mines just happened to be enduring unfaithfulness throughout my first marriage and restoring my health. With God’s help, if I can do it, I want you to know that you can too! He can turn every sorrow into joy. I am a living witness. I have been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb, and that redemption has given me the victory over the battles I endured through my first marriage and my health. I stay in prayer continuously to keep myself and my family covered because I know that as long as I’m still living it is not over. The enemy will always try to launch another battle, but at the end of each battle, I win. Sometimes when we are in the midst of our battles, we feel like we are the only ones experiencing them. I tell my story to let people know that there are others out there who have experienced the same or similar challenges that they are going through right now. And we made it so you can too! This book is about bringing restoration to lives when it feels like there is none in sight. Well, there is. Keep living and keep trusting. I’ve been told that it’s not what you go through, it’s how you go through it that matters. I hope my story helps you go through whatever challenge you are facing now or may face in the future with a confidence that it doesn’t matter where you start, it matters where you end, and your end can be glorious. I hope my story helps to answer all of the unanswered questions that you might have when “life happens.” And it does but in the midst of going through life’s challenges remember always to extend forgiveness. I continue to forgive others hoping that I receive forgiveness from anyone that I have hurt or mislead. It is key to you being free. Writing this book has played a huge role in my deliverance and being able to continue loving those who God has placed in my life. Maybe one day you too will be led to share your story as I did and witness it help someone in ways you never thought it could. Lastly, ladies, I want to encourage you never give up your hope in God and His everlasting love for us, because I can tell you from experience that He will never leave nor forsake us. Even when we mess up and take wrong turns in life, God still loves us the same. Keep your mind focused on Him no matter what the seasons may bring into your life. My pastor, Bill Winston always says, “God would never mismanage your life or mine.” He is faithful to perform that “good work” in us that He has begun (Philippians 1:6). The word of God says, “If they obey and serve him, they will spend the rest of their days in prosperity and their years in contentment” (Job 36:11 NIV). May God bless everyone who reads my story, and may He give you peace, patience, guidance, wisdom, knowledge and understanding as you carry your cross in life.

While Aran was openly hoping for a baby girl (already the mother to two little boys) to spoil in her favorite color PINK, all they prayed for was a healthy addition to their already precious family of four. Aran's pregnancy seemed to be going perfectly. On November 22nd Aran and Patrick were given the heart breaking news that their baby had a fatal illness called Fetal Hydrops and the chance of survival was dismal. With little information and heavy hearts, Aran and Patrick knew that it was time to start fighting for their baby. Reading this book you will discover a remarkable journey about a mother's fight for her child's life. It is a story about unconditional love for an unborn child, ongoing support from friends and family, and faith and hope in God that gave them the strength to make it through unimaginable times.Sometimes when we think about our lives we take the “little things” for granted. We don't always appreciate all life has in store for us until we are faced with tragedy. It is that tragedy that we encountered with that brought on this Journey with and Angel.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cradled in the Arms of Jesus is a self-help book for mental health recovery based on personal testimony. I began my journey with mental health challenges while in elementary school, possibly due to life challenges or perhaps due to head trauma. Either way, my first suicide note was written in third grade. Over the years many situations have arisen, causing ongoing mental health battles. But with a variety of tools, I have overcome and been successful in living a full life. The ingredients for recovery: medication, talk therapy, doctors you can talk with, a strong support system, and faith are detailed and encouraged in Cradled in the Arms of Jesus. The Christian faith is strongly encouraged. Scripture is used as a segue into each chapter. The reader is assisted in their faith journey with sample prayers at the end of each chapter. While the Christian faith is the focus of Cradled in the Arms of Jesus, I share that having faith in anything the offers hope is a good starting point. Faith and hope are important elements in mental health recovery. I offer suggestions of other things a person might find faith in. The important thing is to start somewhere in the faith journey. I reveal my own experience with mental health in hopes of offering hope and encouragement to others with mental illness, their caretakers, support system, and family. In a time when America is facing a mental health crisis, Cradled in the Arms of Jesus is timely.

This book is for those who are experiencing a health crisis and need hope, faith to get through the journey. Let me tell you for those who believe and trust in Him, God is still in control. I’m sharing this short story testimony to encourage anyone who reads the Bible to reassure you that Yes, Jesus is still working miracles just like He did in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. He is still a MIRACLE WORKER! The pages of this book hold just one account of a miracle I experienced during the summer of the post pandemic time. If you have been going along, doing what you are purposed to do and have encountered an interruption that you aren’t sure how to handle maybe, just maybe this story will speak to your heart and encourage you to trust God to be all you need Him to be. He will be your Shepherd and will bring you through any valley experience, step-by-step. We need to hear stories that build our faith and help us trust in God’s Sovereignty, Providential Care, and grounds us in His Grace. We need to know His WORD is true and once it goes out, it performs its intended purpose! Someone once said “the God you see is the God you get”. By reading this short story testimony I hope you will see Him clearly.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 2018, Tom had two nervous breakdowns. He literally was at the end of himself. The reason was he just never took care of himself. It was at a point that the pressure came on strong. Yet he felt that time would take care of it. He was so wrong. He had neglected his soul. David, in a couple of Psalms, said, "Why are you downcast oh my soul put your hope in God?" David understood he needed to allow his soul to know he was paying attention to its feelings. You must know when your soul is whole, everything else just falls into place. We must love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength; and we need to love our neighbors, as well as ourselves. We love God first. We love others second, and as often neglected, we need to love ourselves. But if any of these are broken, all of it is broken. This breakdown, Tom had, lasted a number of months, and he really didn't know how to fix it. Again, he felt time would heal it. Tom finally talked to his local pastor here, and he suggested a few things to do. They are mentioned in this book. We all need to watch over our souls. Whether you are going through it or not, you need to know that there are many resources to help. One of the biggest things that can help you is to have a couple of people around you that are able to walk with you through it, that you can be accountable to, and that can pray with you through things. You cannot feel ashamed that you're going through them. That being said, let this journey help you. Allow it to give hope as you move forward.

Book excerpt: My Journey is a true story of a young widow suddenly faced with the challenges of being alone in Cuba with forty-eight hours to leave the island with her two young sons and her husbands casket. What began as an adventure in the US Navy turned into a life changing event, opening new doors that proved there are no chance happenings. The power of her childhood faith foundation allowed her to find comfort by visualizing the images of the stained glass windows from her hometown church. Her faith in God transformed her into being the little lost lamb in the arms of the Good Shepherd, where she found strength and courage on her journey. The silence and pain of being alone enabled her to connect to the Christ in Gethsemane. The journey changed the twenty-seven-year-old country girl into a stronger and more loving woman without breaking her spirit. Cry, laugh, celebrate, and become inspired! My Journey is not all gloom and doom; however, it is an honest glimpse into the events that lead this family into a new life. This is inspiration for anyone who has loved and lost. It offers hope and joy for all those brave enough to stand up and praise God and thank him for the challenges in life.

I have experienced the insecurity of life in a foreign land; uncertainty , in the face of sickness and ill-health without the assurance of medical care; uncertainty of employment and means of support; lacking leisure and vacation, or just time to be; without having to worry about the next day. It is what I call life on the precipice, afraid that any moment there could be a fall down the cliff. Yet, if I wasn't writing about it here, you'd never guess there was such an experience. Who hasn't faced affliction and adversity anyway? The big story is really, the aftermath. I could say with St. Paul (to the Christians of Corinth, "hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed" (2 Cor. 4: 8-9). The big story is BUT. I am here, telling the story. In the midst of affliction and adversity, I found my strength, I found authentic power: Faith, Hope, Abundance/Relationships, Perseverance, Gratitude, and Humility.

Book excerpt: Atheism's leading lights have long been intellectuals raised in the secular and academic worlds: Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, and the late Christopher Hitchens. By contrast, Jerry DeWitt was born and bred into the church and was in fact a Pentecostal preacher before arriving at atheism through an extraordinary dialogue with faith that spanned more than a quarter of a century. Hope After Faith is his account of that journey. DeWitt was a pastor in the town of DeRidder, Louisiana, and was a fixture of the community. In private, however, he'd begun to question his faith. Late one night in May 2011, a member of his flock called seeking prayer for her brother who had been in a serious accident. As DeWitt searched for the right words to console her, speech failed him, and he found that the faith which once had formed the cornerstone of his life had finally crumbled to dust. When it became public knowledge that DeWitt was now an atheist, he found himself shunned by much of DeRidder's highly religious community, losing nearly everything he'd known. DeWitt's struggle for identity and meaning mirrors the one currently facing millions of people around the world. With both agnosticism and atheism entering the mainstream—one in five Americans now claim no religious affiliation, according to a recent study—the moment has arrived for a new atheist voice, one that is respectful of faith and religious traditions yet warmly embraces a life free of religion, finding not skepticism and cold doubt but rather profound meaning and hope. Hope After Faith is the story of one man's evolution toward a committed and considered atheism, one driven by humanism, a profound moral dimension, and a happiness and self-confidence obtained through living free of fear.

Book excerpt: The news felt like a punch in the gut. I cried in disbelief as the doctor told me what they found. In the blink of an eye, my world turned upside down. My husband brought me to the Emergency Room after I experienced a seizure. The hospital staff did scans, tests, and a biopsy, and now the doctor told me I had an inoperable brain tumor. The name of my nemesis was Oligoastrocytoma, Grade 3. My husband and I used the CaringBridge website to keep family and friends informed on how I was doing. A Pilgrimage of Hope, A Story of Faith and Medicine, is my story chronicling the challenges in trying to triumph in the battle for my life. The memoirs capture the frightening details in a crash course with cancer and the possible treatments for this disease. Despite the cancer diagnosis, I found myself being called closer to God. I wanted to share my physical and spiritual journey with others so that when they are challenged, they will have some guidance in how to respond. With recovery in mind, my spiritual growth deepened as I aligned my will with the will of God. A pilgrimage to the Holy Land at the end of my treatments fulfilled my yearning for a greater understanding of Christ. I shared the details of my trip to the Holy Land on my CaringBridge site and in this book.

In this frank and eloquent account of life transformed by cancer, Deanna Thompson explores these articles of faith as they are also wont to appear--on the hard edges of hope and the dark side of joy." --Krista Tippett, from the Foreword Hoping for More is a story of a young religion professor with a stage IV cancer diagnosis and a lousy prognosis for the future. Amid the grief and the grace of her fractured life, this theologian--who is also a wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend--searches for words adequate to express her faltering faith. More Anne Lamott meets Harold Kushner than the teller of a pious, God-saved-me-from-cancer tale, Thompson unpacks the messy realities that arise when faith and suffering collide. Told in shimmering prose, Hoping for More takes readers on an unsentimental journey through the valley of the shadow of cancer--beyond the predictable parameters of prayer, the church, even belief in life after death. What emerges is a novel approach to talking faith and accepting grace when hope is all you've got.

Suddenly you went from being the poster child of perfect health to living a medical nightmare day after day for years. Would you hold steady in your faith? Or would you begin to question God's plan? My fight through Acute Myeloid Leukemia was not easy, there were days when my faith was tested more than I ever imagined it could be. I was blessed to have a loving family by my side throughout my entire journey. I discovered that my unexpected battle with cancer and the aftermath has shaped me into the mother, wife, and daughter I am today. A person that I could have only dreamed of becoming. I value each and every smile from my children, try to spread compassion and love around like sprinkles. Treat each and every day as a genuine gift from God. I experienced what it felt like to be at death's doorstep. It was extremely lonely and scary. No amount of money or power could change my predicament. I remember lying in my hospital bed at night praying to God with all my might. "God if I make it through this nightmare, I promise to love and cherish every second with my children. I will be patient and kind. I will cherish every breath I get to take on Earth." Well, I tried. I have come to realize I am far from being a perfect mom, wife, daughter and Christian. To this day I still make mistakes and say things I wish hadn't. I continue to fight and strive to be the very best version of me I can possibly be. I am sharing my story of overcoming horrible odds with the hopes of passing on encouragement, faith and love for our Almighty God. It was my Faith and God's Will that brought me through these past four years. I hope my story encourages you to never give up when you are faced with a personal battle. Whether it be a disease or illness, divorce, or layoff it is faith in God, laughter, and baking that will see you through. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Six-year-old Charles Mulli wakes up in his Kenyan hut to discover his parents have abandoned him. Forced to beg from hut to hut in search of food, Charles scrapes out a meagre existence while trying to come to terms with his abusive past and seemingly hopeless future. As a teenager, Charles is invited by a friend to a crusade where he commits his life to Christ. That act begins a unique adventure of faith, miracles, and a passion for reaching street children. After years of struggle, Charles experiences unprecedented success. He finds a wonderful wife, raises a family, excels in business to such a degree that he creates an empire that is noticed by the President of Kenya. Charles becomes a pinnacle in the Church movement, but then his life changes again. In spite of his tremendous achievements, the plight of the growing street children problem in his country remains strong in Charles' heart. He is unable to shut out their cries, the cries he understands so well, and he realizes he must respond. Convicted by God to give away all his possessions, Charles sells everything to pursue his passion of rescuing street children from the slums of Kenya. He battles against corrupt religious establishments, supernatural enemies, and intense financial pressures to bring hope to those whose lives reflect his own childhood. Mully Children's Family (MCF) Orphanage was founded and established by Charles and Esther Mulli in response to the desperate needs of street children, abandoned children, and HIV/AIDS orphans in Kenya in 1989. Father to the Fatherless is the true story of a man whose life begins in desperate poverty, moves to riches, and finally servanthood, where he becomes a real-life demonstration of selfless love and sacrifice that challenges us to evaluate the cost of giving up all to God in the service of others.
