Download or read book The Miracle Man written by Jeff Kurtzer and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2015-10-30 with total page 142 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Miracle Man presents the spiritual autobiography of Jeff Kurtzer, a man who struggled with a series of challenges, including physical and mental abuse, early use of drugs and alcohol, a diagnosis of manic depression, and multiple stays in psychiatric care facilities. Born in Long Island, New York, the author lived through times that remind many of the life of Job, the biblical figure who endured extreme deprivation, but who clung to his faith in God. As he recounts the trajectory of his life, Jeff Kurtzer seasons his account with passage from the Scriptures that offered him encouragement at the time. His story was written to provide support to all who seek hope and change in their own lives. This approach flows from his faith that God sees the truth of ones life and will work to change it, just as he heard in a prophesy prayed over him: God has called you to His ministry and all you have been going through will be used to help many people. God is going to heal you completely and restore all that the enemy has stolen from you. When you face those moments in your lifewhether brief or extendedwhen the obstacles are piling up and all passages to peace seem hopelessly blocked, then The Miracle Man can offer you words of encouragement that God does still work miracles in todays world. He worked one in the life of Jeff Kurtzer, and He can work a miracle in your life too.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “A hilarious, endearing novel.”—Los Angeles Times In Fannie Flagg’s high-spirited first novel, we meet Daisy Fay Harper in the spring of 1952, where she’s “not doing much except sitting around waiting for the sixth grade.” When she leaves Shell Beach, Mississippi, in September 1959, she is packed up and ready for the Miss America Pageant, vowing “I won’t come back until I’m somebody.” But in our hearts she already is. Sassy and irreverent from the get-go, Daisy Fay takes us on a rollicking journey through her formative years on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. There, at The End of the Road of the South, the family malt shop freezer holds unspeakable things, society maven Mrs. Dot hosts Junior Debutante meetings and shares inspired thoughts for the week (such as “sincerity is as valuable as radium”), and Daisy Fay’s Daddy hatches a quick-cash scheme that involves resurrecting his daughter from the dead in a carefully orchestrated miracle. Along the way, Daisy Fay does a lot of growing up, emerging as one of the most hilarious, appealing, and prized characters in modern fiction. Praise for Daisy Fay and the Miracle Man “Sheer unbeatable entertainment.”—Cosmopolitan “Unforgettable and irresistible.”—Chattanooga Free Press “Side-splittingly funny.”—Cleveland Plain Dealer

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book was titled Miracle Man for several reasons, and the first reason was because of what happened to me in December of 2018aEUR"from working out at the gym to being on life support fighting for my life twelve hours later. I had arrived for a doctoraEUR(tm)s appointment, and the next thing I knew, they were rushing me to the emergency room of Hoag Hospital because my blood pressure was so low they could not believe I walked into the office. The next thing I remember was waking up surrounded by family members and my wife telling me I had been on life support for three weeks. My heart had stopped three times, and hours before, they had decided to let the doctors disconnect me because they said there was no chance of me recovering. Well, here I am writing about my experience. But actually my life has had one miracle after another due to mostly physical challenges throughout my life. Many people believed I was a hypochondriac because of all the physical challenges I had to overcome starting when I was born, being legally blind and no one finding out until a first-grade teacher told my parents, aEURoeI donaEUR(tm)t think Patrick is dumb. I do not think Patrick can see.aEUR And from there, the book progresses from one incident to another, ending with the story of surviving three weeks on life support and almost four months in the hospital.

Readers will have access to the best current scholarship on the evolution of popular and literate cultures in the various regions since their earliest emergence."The History of Literature in the Caribbean" brings together the most distinguished team of literary Caribbeanists ever assembled, cutting across ideological commitments and critical methods. Book excerpt: This volume is intended for students who desire a practical introduction to the use of language in daily and professional life. It may be used either as part of a course or as an aid to independent study. Readers will find that concepts relating to language and discourse are highlighted in the text, explained clearly, illuminated through examples and practice exercises, and defined in the "Glossary/Index" at the back of the book. Divided into two parts, this text presents an introduction to the elements and practice of discourse analysis in general, as well as an introduction to the actual kinds of discourse crucial to personal and professional life. In Part I, examples and practice exercises are used which make use of a variety of genres common in daily and professional life. Genres included are advertising, biography, travel guide, news clipping, prose fiction, students' writing, telephone conversation, poetry, police-suspect interview, face-to-face conversation, war cry, political speech, medical text, legislation, textbook, discourse of the mentally disturbed, and detective fiction among others. Wherever feasible, authentic examples are used. Part II of the book applies the principles and techniques of Part I to an investigation of discourse in daily use. Chapters include discourse in education, medicine, law, the media, and literature. Not only will these be of particular interest to students planning to enter any of these professions, but will also be of general interest, since all of us encounter them in daily life. As a result, this is a very practical book.

Download or read book November Dreamer written by Grandma Pat and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2009-04-15 with total page 177 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a book of poems, written in two parts. The first part is general poems about many things from animals of all kinds to situations people find themselves in and even some funny problems. Also, there are a few philosophic poems. A few of the poems are based on nursery rhymes-3 or 4. The second part is written in the Japanese form of poetry called "Haiku" or "Senryu." It has only three lines and seventeen syllables. Count them. There are 5 syllables in the first line, 7 in the second, and 5 in the third. These poems are supposed to create one clear thought focusing each poem toward that thought. Haiku are Nature poems and Senryu are poems that focus on human emotions. Many thanks for looking at my book. I hope it gives you much pleasure. Grandma Pat.
