Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is devoted to multiplicative analytic geometry. The book reflects recent investigations into the topic. The reader can use the main formulae for investigations of multiplicative differential equations, multiplicative integral equations and multiplicative geometry. The authors summarize the most recent contributions in this area. The goal of the authors is to bring the most recent research on the topic to capable senior undergraduate students, beginning graduate students of engineering and science and researchers in a form to advance further study. The book contains eight chapters. The chapters in the book are pedagogically organized. Each chapter concludes with a section with practical problems. Two operations, differentiation and integration, are basic in calculus and analysis. In fact, they are the infinitesimal versions of the subtraction and addition operations on numbers, respectively. In the period from 1967 till 1970, Michael Grossman and Robert Katz gave definitions of a new kind of derivative and integral, moving the roles of subtraction and addition to division and multiplication, and thus established a new calculus, called multiplicative calculus. Multiplicative calculus can especially be useful as a mathematical tool for economics and finance. Multiplicative Analytic Geometry builds upon multiplicative calculus and advances the theory to the topics of analytic and differential geometry.

Book excerpt: The purpose of this book is to introduce a new notion of analytic space over a non-Archimedean field. Despite the total disconnectedness of the ground field, these analytic spaces have the usual topological properties of a complex analytic space, such as local compactness and local arcwise connectedness. This makes it possible to apply the usual notions of homotopy and singular homology. The book includes a homotopic characterization of the analytic spaces associated with certain classes of algebraic varieties and an interpretation of Bruhat-Tits buildings in terms of these analytic spaces. The author also studies the connection with the earlier notion of a rigid analytic space. Geometrical considerations are used to obtain some applications, and the analytic spaces are used to construct the foundations of a non-Archimedean spectral theory of bounded linear operators. This book requires a background at the level of basic graduate courses in algebra and topology, as well as some familiarity with algebraic geometry. It would be of interest to research mathematicians and graduate students working in algebraic geometry, number theory, and -adic analysis.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advanced Studies in Pure Mathematics, Volume 18-I: Recent Topics in Differential and Analytic Geometry presents the developments in the field of analytical and differential geometry. This book provides some generalities about bounded symmetric domains. Organized into two parts encompassing 12 chapters, this volume begins with an overview of harmonic mappings and holomorphic foliations. This text then discusses the global structures of a compact Kähler manifold that is locally decomposable as an isometric product of Ricci-positive, Ricci-negative, and Ricci-flat parts. Other chapters consider the most recognized non-standard examples of compact homogeneous Einstein manifolds constructed via Riemannian submersions. This book discusses as well the natural compactification of the moduli space of polarized Einstein–Kähler orbitfold with a given Hilbert polynomials. The final chapter deals with solving a degenerate Monge–Ampère equation by constructing a family of Einstein–Kähler metrics on the smooth part of minimal varieties of general kind. This book is a valuable resource for graduate students and pure mathematicians.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For students of mathematics with a sound background in analytic geometry and some knowledge of determinants, this volume has long been among the best available expositions of advanced work on projective and algebraic geometry. Developed from Professor Woods' lectures at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, it bridges the gap between intermediate studies in the field and highly specialized works. With exceptional thoroughness, it presents the most important general concepts and methods of advanced algebraic geometry (as distinguished from differential geometry). It offers a thorough study of one-, two-, three-, and four-dimensional coordinated systems, the concepts they entail, and their associated geometrical elements. This study culminates with a discussion of n-dimensional geometry in an abstract sense, of which the earlier subjects form concrete illustrations. As each system of coordinates is introduced, the meaning of the linear and quadratic equations is studied, with principal emphasis on the interpretation of equations as well as on a knowledge of useful geometrical facts. The principle of duality is kept at the forefront, and the nature of imaginary elements and the conventional character of the locus of infinity, dependent upon the type of coordinates used, are carefully explained.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces multiplicative Frenet curves. We define multiplicative tangent, multiplicative normal, and multiplicative normal plane for a multiplicative Frenet curve. We investigate the local behaviours of a multiplicative parameterized curve around multiplicative biregular points, define multiplicative Bertrand curves and investigate some of their properties. A multiplicative rigid motion is introduced. The book is addressed to instructors and graduate students, and also specialists in geometry, mathematical physics, differential equations, engineering, and specialists in applied sciences. The book is suitable as a textbook for graduate and under-graduate level courses in geometry and analysis. Many examples and problems are included. The author introduces the main conceptions for multiplicative surfaces: multiplicative first fundamental form, the main multiplicative rules for differentiations on multiplicative surfaces, and the main multiplicative regularity conditions for multiplicative surfaces. An investigation of the main classes of multiplicative surfaces and second fundamental forms for multiplicative surfaces is also employed. Multiplicative differential forms and their properties, multiplicative manifolds, multiplicative Einstein manifolds and their properties, are investigated as well. Many unique applications in mathematical physics, classical geometry, economic theory, and theory of time scale calculus are offered.

Lenstraj furthermore, tried and tested examples and exercises have been included. The translator, Prof. Charles Thomas, has solved the difficult problem of the German text into English in an admirable way. He deserves transferring our 'Unreserved praise and special thailks. Finally, we would like to express our gratitude to Springer-Verlag, for their commitment to the publication of this English edition, and for the special care taken in its production. Vienna, March 1991 E. Hlawka J. SchoiBengeier R. Taschner Preface to the German Edition We have set ourselves two aims with the present book on number theory. On the one hand for a reader who has studied elementary number theory, and who has knowledge of analytic geometry, differential and integral calculus, together with the elements of complex variable theory, we wish to introduce basic results from the areas of the geometry of numbers, diophantine ap proximation, prime number theory, and the asymptotic calculation of number theoretic functions. However on the other hand for the student who has al ready studied analytic number theory, we also present results and principles of proof, which until now have barely if at all appeared in text books.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nonabelian multiplicative integration on curves is a classical theory. This volume is about the 2-dimensional case, which is much more difficult. In our construction, the setup is a Lie crossed module: there is a Lie group H, together with an action on it by another Lie group G. The multiplicative integral is an element of H, and it is the limit of Riemann products. Each Riemann product involves a fractal decomposition of the surface into kites (triangles with strings connecting them to the base point). There is a twisting of the integrand, that comes from a 1-dimensional multiplicative integral along the strings, with values in the group G.The main result of this work is the 3-dimensional nonabelian Stokes theorem. This result is new; only a special case of it was predicted (without proof) in papers in mathematical physics. Our constructions and proofs are of a straightforward nature. There are plenty of illustrations to clarify the geometric constructions. Our volume touches on some of the central issues (e.g., descent for nonabelian gerbes) in an unusually down-to-earth manner, involving analysis, differential geometry, combinatorics and Lie theory — instead of the 2-categories and 2-functors that other authors prefer.
