Book excerpt: Um als Unternehmen in der modernen Leistungsgesellschaft nachhaltig erfolgreich sein zu können, ist ein funktionierendes und kohärentes Performance Management unerlässlich. Gleichzeitig stellen Motivation und die Bereitschaft zur Leistungserbringung von Mitarbeitern eine Schlüsselvariable hinsichtlich der Zielerreichung im Leistungsprozess dar. Die vorliegende Arbeit befasst sich daher mit der Analyse der Anwendung von Motivationstheorien auf den organisationalen Rahmen im Allgemeinen und das Performance Management im Besonderen. Der Fokus der Arbeit liegt dabei auf der Analyse zweier Motivationstheorien: der Zielsetzungstheorie und der Selbstbestimmungstheorie. Die Analyse dieser Theorien in Verbindung mit dem Performance Management hat ergeben, dass motivationstheoretische Erkenntnisse durchaus einen wertvollen Beitrag zur Entwicklung von Performance-Management- Systemen leisten können. Insbesondere die Kombination und Integration verschiedener motivationstheoretischer Ansätze ermöglicht eine umfassendere, kohärentere und in sich abgestimmte Ausgestaltung von Performance-Management-Systemen.
