The project involves a duplication of the highway essentially along its existing alignment with bypasses of the villages of Moorland, Johns River and Kew. The NSW Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) is forming an alliance team with Thiess Pty Ltd and Parsons Brinckerhoff Australia Pty Ltd to design and construct a 33 km dual carriageway upgrade of the Pacific Highway from Coopernook to Herons Creek. This project is jointly funded by the NSW and Australian governments."--RTA website 19/10/07.
