Book Synopsis Finite Element Simulation of Heat Transfer by : Jean-Michel Bergheau
Download or read book Finite Element Simulation of Heat Transfer written by Jean-Michel Bergheau and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-03-01 with total page 291 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces the finite element method applied to the resolution of industrial heat transfer problems. Starting from steady conduction, the method is gradually extended to transient regimes, to traditional non-linearities, and to convective phenomena. Coupled problems involving heat transfer are then presented. Three types of couplings are discussed: coupling through boundary conditions (such as radiative heat transfer in cavities), addition of state variables (such as metallurgical phase change), and coupling through partial differential equations (such as electrical phenomena). A review of the various thermal phenomena is drawn up, which an engineer can simulate. The methods presented will enable the reader to achieve optimal use from finite element software and also to develop new applications.
Book Synopsis Extractive Metallurgy 1 by : Alain Vignes
Download or read book Extractive Metallurgy 1 written by Alain Vignes and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-03-28 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is dedicated to the processes of mineral transformation, recycling and reclamation of metals, for the purpose of turning metals and alloys into a liquid state ready for pouring. Even though "process metallurgy" is one of the oldest technologies implemented by man, technological innovation, with the development of processes that are both focused on product quality and economically and ecologically efficient, continues to be at the heart of these industries. This book explains the physico-chemical bases of transformations, vital to their understanding and control (optimization of operational conditions), and the foundations in terms of "process engineering" (heat and matter assessment, process coupling: chemical reactions and transport phenomena), vital to the optimal execution and analysis of transformation process operations. This book is addressed to students in the field of metallurgy and to engineers facing the problem of metal and alloy development (operation of an industrial unit or development of a new process).
Book Synopsis Homogenization Theory for Multiscale Problems by : Xavier Blanc

Book Synopsis Morphological Models of Random Structures by : Dominique Jeulin
Download or read book Morphological Models of Random Structures written by Dominique Jeulin and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-06-01 with total page 919 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book covers methods of Mathematical Morphology to model and simulate random sets and functions (scalar and multivariate). The introduced models concern many physical situations in heterogeneous media, where a probabilistic approach is required, like fracture statistics of materials, scaling up of permeability in porous media, electron microscopy images (including multispectral images), rough surfaces, multi-component composites, biological tissues, textures for image coding and synthesis. The common feature of these random structures is their domain of definition in n dimensions, requiring more general models than standard Stochastic Processes. The main topics of the book cover an introduction to the theory of random sets, random space tessellations, Boolean random sets and functions, space-time random sets and functions (Dead Leaves, Sequential Alternate models, Reaction-Diffusion), prediction of effective properties of random media, and probabilistic fracture theories.

Book Synopsis Numerical Simulation, An Art of Prediction 1 by : Jean-François Sigrist
Download or read book Numerical Simulation, An Art of Prediction 1 written by Jean-François Sigrist and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2019-12-18 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Numerical simulation is a technique of major importance in various technical and scientific fields. Used to understand diverse physical phenomena or to design everyday objects, it plays a major role in innovation in the industrial sector. Whilst engineering curricula now include training courses dedicated to it, numerical simulation is still not well-known in some economic sectors, and even less so among the general public. Simulation involves the mathematical modeling of the real world, coupled with the computing power offered by modern technology. Designed to perform virtual experiments, digital simulation can be considered as an "art of prediction". Embellished with a rich iconography and based on the testimony of researchers and engineers, this book shines a light on this little-known art. It is the first of two volumes and focuses on the principles, methods and industrial practice of numerical modeling.
