Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Accelerating Movements As record numbers of people around the world respond to Christ, a need for community, structure, and leadership is emerging. Disciple-making and church planting must extend to the most remote areas of every people group and nation to assist individuals as they come to Christ. Lasting movements build on specific traits and strategies in both teams and leadership, including divine passion that lasts beyond whims and hardships. Murray Moerman provides realistic expectations of what it takes to facilitate a movement and how to gain the support of various partners needed for long-term success, resulting in whole-nation church planting saturation. Based on years of research, Mobilizing Movements contains both practical and spiritual elements. You will find insights and models from several continents for macro (whole nation) strategies and micro (personal) disciple-making. Features include: Key components of healthy movements Nine accelerants for movements Analysis of seven challenging contexts in which movements can still flourish Practical strategies scalable to your capacity and context Writing for novices as well as practitioners, Moerman casts a vision for completing the Great Commission and invites us to mobilize movements.

Founded in trinitarian theology, Beal's practical advice explores congregation-based mission, explains how to creatively mobilize resources for mission, and discusses how to train and care for volunteers. Beal's model for outreach emphasizes principles for partnership that provide mutual empowerment and long-term commitment.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Never before has the phenomenon of mission mobilization been so broadly researched. In a vein similar to Too Valuable To Lose and Worth Keeping, the World Evangelical Alliance Mission Commission commissioned a research team to investigate what motivates people into mission service from around the globe. Mobilization practitioners recorded, translated and transcribed hundreds of hours of interview dialogue that explored reasons for mission involvement from Eastern Europe, Western Europe, North and South America, Oceania, East Asia, South Asia and East Africa. The data was subsequently analyzed to draw out common themes, and Mission In Motion presents the results of this research. This book is the first definitive exploration of the recent history, ministries and methods of mission mobilization. The evangelical missions community is expending much energy and resource trying to raise up workers for the Lord’s harvest, but is it helping? Are the means, models, methods, and mechanisms being applied to this end effective? What does influence people to greater involvement in mission—whatever they understand mission to be? Furthermore, what hinders it? In addressing these questions, Mission In Motion allows the interviewed respondents to speak for themselves, in an open and frank manner. Some results confirm common beliefs, but others may surprise you.

But what if Christians were to shape their organizing around the implications of the truth that God is real and Jesus is risen? Reverend Alexia Salvatierra and theologian Peter Heltzel propose a model of organizing that arises from their Christian convictions, with implications for all faiths.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Welcome to the inaugural issue of the Missionary Mobilization Journal. My hope and prayer is that this resource encourages and equips you to mobilize more missionaries. Published each January and July, we aim to produce practical and theoretical articles related to missions mobilization within the context of the missionary, church, agency, and academy. Though not an academic, peer-reviewed journal, our goal is to provide reputable content such as best practices, trends and issues, and other concepts relevant to missions mobilization. Thanks to our ministry partners, Assemblies of God World Missions and Trinity Bible College and Graduate School, we're able to provide the journal free of charge in digital format. Someone once told me that the best teachers are the best learners. And that's why, for our first issue, we've chosen to focus on the topic of education and mobilization. Personally, my life has been changed in the classroom, by books, by teachers, and by my fellow learners. Education is not separate from spiritual growth. In fact, education done well is discipleship. It is deeply spiritual. So let's journey together to do all we can as mobilizers to learn and grow closer to Jesus. David and Lorene Wilson understand the value of intentional education and have written our first article on, "Intentional Education for Missionary Mobilization Outcomes." They ask the question, "What would it look like if every local church took the Great Commission mandate seriously and fully engaged the body of Christ in mobilizing the next generation of missionaries?" Dr. Jolene Erlacher then presents ways to mobilize Gen Z in her article, "How to Engage and Educate Generation Z for Missions Mobilization." We've also included an article that first appeared as a chapter in Mission in Motion by Jay Matenga and Malcolm Gold. They investigate how God often uses education to mobilize believers to the field. Finally, we've transcribed a lecture given by Dr. Paul Alexander on the importance of higher education for mobilizers. Please feel free to print and share this journal with those on your team and other missions advocates. Book excerpt: For most believers, several factors influence their missions call. Some are called to stay in their hometown and support missions at their local church, others are called to short-term mission trips, while others are called to spend a lifetime overseas as career missionaries. This SNAPSHOT book will highlight three things that can help you discover the adventure God has for you in his mission: prayer and Bible study, missionary mentorship, and short-term mission trips. If you need to understand your call or if you know someone who does, get them to walk with David through "It's Your Call: To a Missional or Missionary Life".

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mobilizing Islam explores how and why Islamic groups succeeded in galvanizing educated youth into politics under the shadow of Egypt's authoritarian state, offering important and surprising answers to a series of pressing questions. Under what conditions does mobilization by opposition groups become possible in authoritarian settings? Why did Islamist groups have more success attracting recruits and overcoming governmental restraints than their secular rivals? And finally, how can Islamist mobilization contribute to broader and more enduring forms of political change throughout the Muslim world? Moving beyond the simplistic accounts of "Islamic fundamentalism" offered by much of the Western media, Mobilizing Islam offers a balanced and persuasive explanation of the Islamic movement's dramatic growth in the world's largest Arab state.

Book excerpt: What would it look like if your church really took the last words of Jesus seriously? The Great Commission was not just a suggestion by our Lord, but an imperative mandate given to his followers. Missionary sending agencies are deploying workers to the field, but many of them come from disengaged churches that are not producing well-equipped disciples. We need a fully integrated global supply chain--a pipeline--that has disciples as the precious commodity, as well as an effective infrastructure to distribute and replicate them around the globe. Pipeline seeks to re-engage the church in mobilizing the next generation of workers for the harvest. This is a collaboration of forty different authors from churches, agencies, and cross-cultural servants. As people in distant places wait for a messenger of hope and salvation, will your church venture into the pipeline?

Book excerpt: If you aren’t innovating, stagnation isn’t far away. Ministry leaders carry the burden of keeping their organizations lean, focused, and relevant. The stakes are especially high for churches and other organizations that fulfill the Great Commission. When souls are on the line, there’s no room for bureaucratic bloat or sustaining a cumbersome infrastructure. It’s up to the leadership—that’s you—to realize where the organization is in maintenance mode and find ways to innovate even when the growth curve has slowed and the team has started to grow complacent. Using missions disruptor William Carey as an example, Ted Esler shows how you, too, can innovate in ways that change the ministry landscape. Esler will help you keep an eye on your “eccliosystem”—the ecclesial ecosystem in which you exist. You’ll learn about the four stages of organizational culture—disrupting, innovating, sustaining, and stagnating—and gain strategies for staying in that sweet spot where innovations keep coming and stagnation can’t take hold. The gospel of Jesus Christ never grows stale. Don’t let your ministry ever forget it!
