Tuttavia la liturgia, in quanto rito, intrattiene forti relazioni con il teatro poiché anch’esso trae origine dal rito e mantiene al suo interno forme e meccanismi rituali. Dunque attraverso una comparazione tra la liturgia e il teatro si intendono portare allo scoperto le contraddizioni performative della liturgia postconciliare e, nello stesso tempo, si vogliono anche offrire anche delle soluzioni. Ossia? Trasformare la Messa in uno show? Assolutamente no, secondo l’autore la liturgia moderna è già troppo spettacolarizzata. La via d’uscita alla crisi liturgica dei nostri tempi è tutta ratzingeriana, infatti l’autore propone come soluzione preferenziale un ritorno della tradizione nella liturgia che non si significa cadere nel tradizionalismo, ma affidarsi a quel patrimonio di gesti e di simboli che la storia della liturgia ci ha affidato nel corso dei secoli per comunicare in maniera efficace la grazia salvifica di Dio che agisce nei sacramenti. Nella liturgia tradizionale, soprattutto in quella celebrata secondo la forma straordinaria del rito romano, ci sono degli elementi archetipi capaci di funzionare in ogni tempo, anche oggi, e portare efficacemente l’uomo contemporaneo a contatto con il sacro, quel sacro che anche ai nostri giorni l’uomo cerca disperatamente in tutti i modi, anche al di fuori dal contesto religioso, ma che le forme liturgiche moderne della Catholica, erose dal razionalismo, non sono più in grado di dispensare.
