He was a worthy successor to his distinguished father, the late W, P, Jervis, for years a teacher in Madison County, who at times served as president of Mars College, as county superintendent of public schools, as publisher of the county Spaper, and as a leader in the association which he served with distinction as k, moderator, and historian. In 1880 he organized among the churches of the as chool Convention for the promotion of Bible Sunday schools and his death.
