Jthere has been the financial depression all over the country. Thousands have been Without work and the demands 'upon others have been heavy. I feel that this accounts in a measure for the falling off in the contributions of our women. I as your superintendent have. No lengthy report to make During the past year I have written 228 letters, 48 postals, held three meetings and traveled 427 miles. In each place I have found an earnest body of women Working in the Master's. Cause. There have been 8 new societies organized, New Hope, Sandy Bottom, Seven Springs and Union W. M. Kinston G. A New Hope, Sunbeams, and New Bern R. A. The ex enses for the year have been, printing, mailing letters and'poistals and clr culars, $12. 75, railroad fare $8. 28. The contributions for the year have been: W. M. S. Y. W. A. 20, G. A. $34. 30, R. A. $4117, and Sunbeams total. $8, 084. 65. This is $3, 000 short of what we gave last year. To make our pledge we have got to give $13, 876. 41 each year, so you see we are now behind in our work _in round figures.
