Learn how you can access His healing power with just the simple act of eating. In Eat Your Way to Life and Health, discover a God who loves you so much, His Son paid for your healing on Calvary’s cross. The Holy Communion in itself, gives us access to the righteousness of God, forgiveness, cleansing from sin, healing, deliverance, protection, and blessing. Book excerpt: Shaw, widely known and read Catholic writer, speaker and former communications director for the U S Bishops, discusses the abuse of secrecy in the Church, the scandals it has caused and the serious problem of mistrust that exists in the credibility of the Church. Not concerned with the legitimate secrecy that is necessary to protect confidentiality and people's reputations, Shaw is rather concerned here with the stifling, deadening misuse of secrecy that has done immense harm to communion and community in the Church. The Church is a communion, not a political democracy, and thus openness and accountability are crucial for the life of the Church. He shows the secrecy issue is a theological as well as practical problem that raises such questions as: What kind of Church do we want our Church to be, open or closed? What kind of Church should it be? And how much secrecy is compatible with having such a Church? As Pope Benedict XVI has stated, "The consequence is clear: we cannot communicate with the Lord if we do not communicate with one another."

Book excerpt: In the early 2020, the world experienced a pandemic from a novel coronavirus (COVID-19) believed to have emanated from a province in the Peoples' Republic of China, that as of this book's publishing has infected more than 37 million people worldwide, killing over 1 million; more than 210,000 in the US. In March 2020, the United States took an unprecedented step of quarantining the entire country, shuttering schools, businesses and religious institutions, in fact closing nearly all facets of daily life except for the most basic and essential needs. This meant that with doors closes, the worshiping faithful would turn to virtual church services in the form of the Holy Sacrifice of Mass via live streamed telecasts. While those who tuned in could watch and follow along with the readings of the day, hearing the Word of God and seeing the Body and Blood of Christ, they could not receive Him. During this time of isolation, I recalled the many times that I had the honor and privilege as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, to take the Blessed Sacrament to sick and homebound. The pandemic and the inability to do the normal activities of life gave me time gather these few stories of "Bringing Him and Finding Him There." In the recent words of Cardinal Robert Sarah, prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship in a letter to bishops around the world, urging a return to Mass, with proper safety protocols observed amid the coronavirus pandemic. "we must return to the Eucharist with a purified heart, with a renewed amazement, with an increased desire to meet the Lord, to be with him, to receive him and to bring him to our brothers and sisters with the witness of a life full of faith, love and hope. My hope is that in reading these instances of grace filled experiences I had in some of my Communion Calls, you will find a renewed amazement, with an increased desire to meet the Lord, to be with him, to receive him.

Book excerpt: Communion with Christ is much more than a ceremony. When Adam sinned, communion, in its full sense, was lost. The entire Bible story demonstrates God’s design to reestablish communion to its fullest, ultimately bringing us to a new heaven and a new earth. My heart’s desire is that each of these communion messages will be a daily reminder of what God did for us. While one may choose to sit and read through these devotionals, this is probably not the most profitable method. They are better read as a means to stimulate daily contemplation. Communion with God and with fellow believers is to be a way of life.

Book excerpt: In this revised edition of a bestseller, Father Dennis Smolarski has one very clear aim--to waken an awareness in, and encourage the authentic celebration of, the liturgy as set forth by the Second Vatican Council. He first explores general principles for liturgy, for understanding symbols, and for being a presider. He then examines the Mass, section by section, using the approach of via negativa, or counterexamples, focusing on what NOT to do. He reminds presiders of the many obvious, but sometimes unconscious, violations of rubrics and liturgical principles which can be detrimental to the celebration of good contemporary liturgy. This popular book, originally published in 1986, has been updated based on liturgical documents published since 1986 and the recently revised 3rd edition of the Roman Missal (2002).
