Book excerpt: Sydney Taylor Honor Book In the new country, Shirley and her family all have big dreams. Take the family store: Shirley has great ideas about how to make it more modern! Prettier! More profitable! She even thinks she can sell the one specialty no one seems to want to try: Mama’s homemade gefilte fish. But her parents think she’s too young to help. And anyway they didn’t come to America for their little girl to work. “Go play with the cat!” they urge. This doesn’t stop Shirley’s ideas, of course. And one day, when the rest of the family has to rush out leaving her in the store with sleepy Mrs. Gottlieb…Shirley seizes her chance! P R A I S E “Charming. Download or read book Miniature Schnauzer Training - Dog Training for Your Miniature Schnauzer Puppy written by Claudia Kaiser and published by . This book was released on 2020-05-24 with total page 118 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Miniature Schnauzer Training - Dog Training for your Miniature Schnauzer puppy The training of dogs is often... ... confused with classical dog training drills ... only considered necessary for demanding dogs ... mocked by other dog owners ... replaced by anti-authoritarian methods ... considered too difficult to achieve without experience. What constitutes dog training and what is it good for? And how can you and your Miniature Schnauzer profit from it without having any experience? The most important thing is to understand how a dog sees his world, what is "normal" for him and how you can use this to your advantage. In addition, the characteristics of each breed are significant when you get beyond the basic training phase. Your Miniature Schnauzer will show characteristics which are different to those of a Husky, for example, and this is predominantly what you need to consider during training. This book is vol. 1 of the Miniature Schnauzer training books. Vol. 2 for your grown up Miniature Schnauzer is also available with the title "Miniature Schnauzer Training Vol. 2: Dog Training for your grown-up Miniature Schnauzer" Author Claudia Kaiser says about her book: "It was my desire to let other dog owners profit from the knowledge I have gained over many years, and after making many mistakes. I love my dog and know how important it is to adapt the training to suit each breed. It is exactly this desire that prompted me to write this book. My aim is to help every beginner, not only to understand his dog better, but also to know exactly how to get the best results, step-by-step, so that you can achieve a close, positive and trusting human-dog relationship." Quench your curiosity to know about background information, read reports on other experiences and obtain step-by-step instructions and secret tips which are tailor-made for your Miniature Schnauzer. Get your copy of this book today and experience... ... how your Miniature Schnauzer sees his world ... and how you can progressively train your dog to receive the best results. Your Miniature Schnauzer will appreciate it... ... so this is my advice: Don't hesitate to buy this book! Content of this book: About the Author Preface What you need to know about your Miniature Schnauzer Cornerstones of training puppies Before the puppy arrives The first few weeks The first commands Training basic knowledge Special Chapter - The hunting instinct Check list for the start Conclusion

From matters of politics to education, from social justice to health and wellness and beyond, this has been a year for the voices of women to ring out, and the Women of Redbud Writers Guild add their voices to the swell: voices of honesty, faith, deep spirituality, and generous wisdom. In their new book, Everbloom: Stories of Deeply Rooted and Transformed Lives, edited by Shayne Moore and Margaret Ann Philbrick, they speak out on behalf of those women who might not have found their own voices yet, sharing stories of their own personal transformations, discoveries, and overcomings. In forty stories, from global campaigns against social injustice and poverty, to the most intimate retellings of miscarriages and stillbirths, these Women of Redbud Writers Guild share a clarion call to all women: there is no pain that cannot be redeemed by the grace of God, no God-given voice that should be silenced, no one for whom the love of God through Jesus Christ will ever fall short.

Download or read book Don't Let the Riff-Raff in written by Anne Fothergill and published by . This book was released on 2014-08-01 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is 1966 and seventeen-year-old Anne Traynor has left Nazareth House, the orphanage where she spent thirteen-years of her life. Now free from the restrictions imposed on her by the nuns. She is able to make her own way in the world. As a bridesmaid at her sister Elizabeth's wedding she meets Katie who has split up from her long-term boyfriend. They are both at crossroads in their lives and looking for adventure. With the impetuosity of youth they decide to leave the north- east and head for the bright lights of Manchester. They board a train from Middlesbrough railway station with only a packet of crisps, a carton of milk and very little money. On arrival in Manchester they look for cheap accommodation to rent. The only suitable digs they can find is a bedsit in Cheetham Hill. It is owned by Jewish landlady Mrs Lowe who says she runs a 'respectable house' and 'no riffraff's allowed'. But all is not what it seems. Why do its tenants call it the Den of Iniquity? They include Liam, a young gay lad who has an off/on relationship with his violent bisexual lover Robbie, the charismatic Faye and her partner Jo, and Tania, who rents a bedsit overlooking the back garden so she can look out for her clients when they call. Then there's Scots Billy and Dougie, a couple of petty thieves, whose doors are frequently visited by the police. On the top floor lives an old man, a holocaust survivor. The nights are frequently broken by his loud screams as in his nightmares he relives the horrors of the concentration camps. Anne and Katie only plan on staying until they find work and can afford a decent bedsit. But their lives soon become intertwined with those of the other tenants. Naive and innocent Anne is plummeted into a colourful world, which is completely at odds with her strict Catholic upbringing and will change her forever. This is the sequel to Memoirs of a Nazareth House Girl
