Download or read book Marginal Leakage of a Softened Temporary Restoration as Determined by Microorganism Penetration written by David L. Keller and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 23 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The ability of Proteus vulgaris to penetrate through IRM and gutta percha was investigated by using an in vitro model system consisting of extracted teeth embedded in acrylic. Cavity preparations in the embedded teeth which were sealed with gutta percha allowed penetration within 48 hours of proteus in 100% of the models, whereas, those sealed with IRM allowed penetration in 36% in 48 hours. The model system was valuable in detecting the penetration of bacteria through temporary restorative materials. (Author).

This book was released on 2011-03 with total page 88 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the current age of adhesive dentistry or microdentistry, conservation of tooth structure is paramount. Rather than using extension for prevention as a treatment guideline, emphasis now is placed on restriction with conviction. The marginal integrity of tooth and restoration interface is dependent upon several factors, including the type of restorative materials, their physical properties, interactions between the materials, physical properties of tissue interface and interaction with oral environment. The relationship between marginal leakage in restoration & type of restorative materials used has been extensively studied both in clinical & laboratory experiments. In the absence of definitive clinical data, laboratory microleakage studies are a well accepted method of screening adhesive restorative materials for marginal seal. The purpose of this, in vitro study, is to compare the sealing ability of the most innovative restorative materials being used in clinical practice; including Conventional Glass Ionomer Cements, Resin Modified GIC, Microfilled Composites, Packable Composites, Nanofilled Composites and Compomer.

Provides chairside guidance for the endodontic procedures most commonly performed by endodontists and general dentists. Entire text has expanded concepts that are verified in new drawings and clinically relevant cases. Integrates new technologies and materials into every chapter that when applied result in predictable and optimal outcomes. Establishes clear parameters for the retention of teeth. Correlates optimal patient outcomes with an evidence-based approach. Reflects the practical expertise of renowned endodontics authority and past President of the AAE, Dr. James Gutmann, and endodontics specialist, Dr. Paul Lovdahl. Every chapter has been completely rewritten, and concepts have been integrated for quick recognition, understanding and application to common, everyday challenges. The Surgery section has been expanded with new case studies, and more in-depth coverage of indications and applications for surgeries, such as crown-lengthening technique, periradicular surgery to manage perforations and resorptive defects, and other endodontically-related problems. The approach of this text is to teach the clinician how to recognize and analyze the problems encountered and to synthesize the data for realistic and successful outcomes.
