Book Synopsis Methods of Soil Moisture Determination Under Field Conditions (Classic Reprint) by : David F. Olson Jr
Download or read book Methods of Soil Moisture Determination Under Field Conditions (Classic Reprint) written by David F. Olson Jr and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-10-27 with total page 38 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Methods of Soil Moisture Determination Under Field Conditions The determination of soil moisture under field conditions is of vital importance to the agronomist, forester, hydrologist, and engineer. Those dealing in the plant sciences are primarily interested in the amount of water that is available to plants under various environmental conditions; the hydrologist and engineer are also concerned with soil moisture existing in the range above the field capacity and below the permanent wilting percentage. Continuous soil moisture measurement is necessary for full understanding of the nature of soil moisture move ment, but limited studies of soil moisture are often needed as well. Download or read book Advanced Agricultural Instrumentation written by W.G. Gensler and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 481 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The photosynthetic process of higher plants converts carbon dioxide, water, and, light quanta into reduced sugars. The enzymes which catalyze this conversion are contained within the chloroplasts and can be thought of as split into two distinct groups. In one group are the enzymes of the IIlightll reactions, which harvest the light, oxidize water and generate two energy-rich intermediates, ATP and NADPH. These two intermediates plus carbon dioxide are the substrates for the second group, the IIdarkll reactions or Cal vi n cycle, which produce the reduced sugars. The chloroplast is completely bounded by an outer membrane. There is a separate, highly convoluted membrane system, the thyla koid system, enclosed within the chloroplast. The enzymes of the light reactions are physically associated with the thylakoid mem branes, while the Calvin cycle enzymes are free-floating within the stroma, or soluble part of the chloroplast (Fig. 1). Book Synopsis Soil Water Measurement by : J. David Cooper
Download or read book Soil Water Measurement written by J. David Cooper and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2016-01-19 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is written for all those involved in measurement of soil water phenomena, whether they be environmental scientists, field technicians, agronomists, meteorologists, hydrogeologists, foresters, physical geographers, civil or water engineers or students in these subjects. It contains a comprehensive description of all the major methods used for measurement of soil water content and potential, solute concentration, transport and balance of water and solutes, including recharge to groundwater aquifers. The emphasis is firmly on techniques which can be applied in the field or on samples obtained from the field. The theory and practice of the workings of the main instruments and methods available is described, along with practical tips on surmounting some of the main difficulties and explanations of many commonly encountered jargon words.
