Book Synopsis Satellite Radiothermovision of Atmospheric Processes by : Dmitry M. Ermakov
Download or read book Satellite Radiothermovision of Atmospheric Processes written by Dmitry M. Ermakov and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-09-29 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book summarizes the author’s research resulted in developing the satellite radiothermovision approach which allows retrieving dynamical and energy characteristics of atmospheric mesoscale and synoptic-scale processes based on a close scheme of satellite passive radiometry data processing. The book introduces new applications of the satellite passive microwave observations to detailed systematic study of tropical cyclones’ evolution, climatology and characteristics of atmospheric river, parameters of global atmospheric circulation and their variations on climatically significant scales. The results presented in the book demonstrate a clear relation between the convergence/divergence of latent heat from the lower atmosphere to the center of tropical cyclone with variations of its intensity and provide a better insight into the tropical cyclone dynamical energy balance based on remote data.

Book Synopsis Mesoscale-convective Processes in the Atmosphere by : Robert Jeffrey Trapp
Download or read book Mesoscale-convective Processes in the Atmosphere written by Robert Jeffrey Trapp and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 346 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This is the first modern textbook devoted solely to mesoscale-convective processes in the atmosphere. Such processes are realized in the form of thunderstorms and associated phenomena. Thunderstorms are dynamic and fast evolving, and can have high societal impact. For this reason it is becoming increasingly important that current and future generations of atmospheric scientists have a deep understanding of the dynamics, observations, and prediction of these phenomena. The book presents in-depth descriptions of the formation, dynamics, and qualitative characteristics of convective phenomena such as supercell thunderstorms and mesoscale convective systems. Although the descriptions pertain largely to the extratropical atmosphere, examples of related tropical phenomena are given for comparison and contrast. To provide a further holistic perspective, separate chapters are also included on mesoscale observations and data analysis, numerical modelling, and the theoretical predictability and actual numerical prediction of mesoscale weather. An additional chapter on interactions and feedbacks addresses ways in which convective storms affect and are affected by external processes, particularly on the synoptic and planetary scale. This textbook provides advanced students, researchers and weather professionals with a modern, accessible treatment of the convective processes that lie within the range of the atmospheric mesoscale"--Provided by publisher.
Book Synopsis An Introduction to Mesoscale Meteorology by : Shaowen Shou
Download or read book An Introduction to Mesoscale Meteorology written by Shaowen Shou and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-03-20 with total page 341 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a comprehensive introduction of mesoscale meteorology which is one of the important branches of meteorology, studying majorly mesoscale atmospheric systems. It focuses on introduction of the basic knowledge about mesoscale meteorology. It contains the features and equation set of mesoscale atmospheric motions, the topographically forced mesoscale circulations, the gravity waves in free atmosphere, the front and jet stream, the mesoscale convective systems (MCSs), the atmospheric instability, the factors effecting the development of MCSs, mesoscale weather diagnosis and forecasting. This book provides many figures and basic formulas to help reader understanding the basic knowledge. What is mesoscale weather system? How the mesoscale systems influence severe disaster weather? How to forecast the mesoscale severe disaster weather? You will find the answers in it. This book will be of interest to both graduate students majoring in meteorology and the meteorological researchers.
Book Synopsis East Asia And Western Pacific Meteorology And Climate - Proceedings Of The 3rd Conference by : Johnny C L Chan
Download or read book East Asia And Western Pacific Meteorology And Climate - Proceedings Of The 3rd Conference written by Johnny C L Chan and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1998-07-31 with total page 582 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is a collection of refereed papers based on the presentations made at the Third Conference on East Asia and Western Pacific Meteorology and Climate. The topics discussed at the Conference included the East Asian monsoon and climate, typhoons, and air-sea interactions. The majority of the papers were contributed by scientists from mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong, the rest were invited papers from leading non-Chinese meteorologists in the field. This set of proceedings, the third in the series, is an important update of the two previous volumes and serves as a valuable reference on the latest research into the meteorology and climate of the East Asia and Western Pacific region.
Book Synopsis Mesoscale-Convective Processes in the Atmosphere by : Robert J. Trapp
Download or read book Mesoscale-Convective Processes in the Atmosphere written by Robert J. Trapp and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2013-03-25 with total page 359 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This new textbook seeks to promote a deep yet accessible understanding of mesoscale-convective processes in the atmosphere. Mesoscale-convective processes are commonly manifested in the form of thunderstorms, which are fast evolving, inherently hazardous, and can assume a broad range of sizes and severity. Modern explanations of the convective-storm dynamics, and of the related development of tornadoes, damaging 'straight-line' winds and heavy rainfall, are provided. Students and weather professionals will benefit especially from unique chapters devoted to observations and measurements of mesoscale phenomena, mesoscale prediction and predictability, and dynamical feedbacks between mesoscale-convective processes and larger-scale motions.
