This book was released on 2017-06-24 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mentor's Guide - Description This is the Mentor's Guide for the first of a three-volume series called, Mentoring His Way - Disciple Twelve based on the "Twelve Characteristics of a Godly Life." In this first book, we learn about the four "Spiritual Characteristics of a Godly Life." I am a Believer: I know Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior The first characteristic of a Godly life is about your assurance of knowing Christ as your personal Lord and Savior. To conform to the image of Christ, you need to have no doubts that He is in your life and that you are assured of your relationship with Him and that you have eternal life. I am Empowered: I am controlled and empowered by the Holy Spirit The second spiritual characteristic of a Godly life is understanding the power we have available to live the Christian life. Each day we choose to gratify the desires of the flesh or the will of the Spirit. Our spirit is satisfied only when we are totally surrendered to the control of God the Holy Spirit. I am Victorious: I have Christ's authority over all the enemy's power The third spiritual characteristic of a Godly life is to apply Christ's power over Satan. People struggle with temptation every day. We can have real victory over sin by exercising Christ's authority over all of Satan's influence. Because we have Christ in us, He gives us the power and authority over the enemy to stop his attacks. I am a Warrior: I put on all of God's armor in order to defeat Satan The fourth spiritual characteristic of a Godly life is learning how to put on the full armor of God for warfare against the enemy. God promised a way to keep temptation from becoming so strong that we could not stand up against it. He gave us six pieces of armor and instructions for their use. This gives Christians the ability to walk in the Spirit instead of walking in the flesh. Volume Two covers the "Personal Characteristics of a Godly Life." Volume Three covers the "Lifestyle Characteristics of a Godly Life."
Download or read book Organic Mentoring written by Sue Edwards and published by Kregel Publications. This book was released on 2014 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We are experiencing a mentoring crisis today. One key reason is that too many women cling to an outdated formulaic idea of what mentoring is all about. When we hear the word "mentoring" we conjure up a picture that fit our experience decades ago. Then we look in the mirror and don't see an adequate mentor staring back at us. Our preconceived ideas about what today's young women want in a mentor convince us we are not qualified to be mentors--but we are wrong. What we don't realize is that younger women today are far more likely to want a relationship with that woman in the mirror than the conjured-up perfect mentor in our head. Organic Mentoringexplores foundational issues that explain why beloved but outdated mentoring methods are no longer effective. The book looks at the cultural changes and fast-paced digital advancements that shape young thought and behavior but weaken the link between generations. It walks through the new values, preferences, ideas, and problems of the next generation and how these issues impact mentoring. Then the authors guide the reader through landmines to avoid and approaches that work today.

But his personal character and ministry are even more remarkable, for in a time when most monastery dwellers sought solitude, Augustine was always in the company of friends, visiting disciples and writing mentoring letters to those he knew. Augustine as Mentor is written for modern day pastors and spiritual leaders who want to mentor and equip other evangelical Christians based on proven principles in matters of the heart like integrity, humility, faithfulness, personal holiness, spiritual hunger, and service to others. Author Ed Smither explains, “Augustine has something to offer modern ministers pursuing authenticity and longing to ‘preach what they practice.’ Through his thought, practice, success, and even failures, my hope is that today’s mentors will find hope, inspiration, and practical suggestions for how to mentor an emerging generation of spiritual leaders.”

Download or read book Mentors written by Russell Brand and published by Henry Holt and Company. This book was released on 2019-04-09 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Russell Brand explores the idea of mentoring and shares what he's learned from the guidance of his own helpers, heroes and mentors. Could happiness lie in helping others and being open to accepting help yourself? Mentors – the follow up to the New York Times bestseller Recovery – describes the benefits of seeking and offering help. "I have mentors in every area of my life, as a comic, a dad, a recovering drug addict, a spiritual being and as a man who believes that we, as individuals and the great globe itself, are works in progress and that through a chain of mentorship we can improve individually and globally, together . . . One of the unexpected advantages my drug addiction granted is that the process of recovery that I practise includes a mentorship tradition. "I will encourage you to find mentors of your own and explain how you may better use the ones you already have. Furthermore, I will tell you about my experiences mentoring others and how invaluable that has been on my ongoing journey to self-acceptance and how it has helped me to transform from a bewildered and volatile vagabond to a (mostly) present and (usually) focussed husband and father."—Russell Brand Mentors: How to Help and Be Helped describes the impact that a series of significant people have had on the author – from the wayward youths he tried to emulate growing up in Essex, through the first ex-junkie sage, to the people he turns to today to help him be a better father. It explores how we all – consciously and unconsciously – choose guides, mentors and heroes throughout our lives and examines the new perspectives they can bring.
