Book Synopsis Time Line Therapy and the Basis of Personality by : Tad James
Download or read book Time Line Therapy and the Basis of Personality written by Tad James and published by Crown House Publishing Ltd. This book was released on 2017-10-10 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written by Tad James and Wyatt Woodsmall, Time Line Therapy and the Basis of Personality is a compelling study of the important elements that make up a person's core personality, and a detailed exploration of and introduction to how Time Line therapy works in practice. Utilizing discoveries made by Richard Bandler, Time Line Therapy and the Basis of Personality expands and updates our knowledge of how people actually store their memories, and sheds light on the effect that the system used for memory storage has on the individual. The authors contend that the concept of Time Line, or the notion of time that you have stored in your mind, shapes and structures your experience of the world, and consequently shapes your personality. Time Line therapy is therefore based on the premise that the client goes back to the first time they remember a particular problem, does change work utilizing Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) to eliminate irritating behaviors or issues and, if necessary, goes to subsequent times when their behavior or response was a problem, and undertakes further change work to resolve it. Written in an informative and engaging manner, Time Line Therapy and the Basis of Personality offers readers the opportunity to see how Time Line therapy works providing a clear description of how to elicit the Time Line, and sharing step-by-step methods to subsequently help the client to release a limiting decision or trauma, remove anxiety, or set a future goal. All of these key aspects are explained using clear language and easy-to-follow steps, and the authors' expert commentary is further complemented by examples, exercises and transcripts in order to help the reader transfer the theory into effective practice. In Section I, the authors explain the NLP Communication Model and share their in-depth analysis of the filters values, beliefs, attitudes, decisions, memories and meta programs which we subconsciously use as we process the world around us and which form the basis of our personalities. Section II provides a comprehensive description of the Time Line and how it works: laying down a theoretical basis for the technique before offering insight into its practice and application with a demonstrative transcript of Time Line elicitation and change work in order to illustrate the concepts explored. In Section III the authors move on to carefully survey simple and complex meta programs (and how they can be changed) before exploring the formation, evolution and changing of values in Section IV, which includes a helpful exercise that gives guidance on how to elicit values from the client. Exploring many interesting contexts and how personality can be positively changed to help people live happier lives, Time Line Therapy and the Basis of Personality is a worthy addition to any therapist's or NLP practitioner's library and is suitable reading for anyone interested in behavioral change. Sections include: Section I Introduction; Section II Time Line Therapy; Section III Meta Programs; Section IV Values. Time Line Therapy and the Basis of Personality was originally published in 1988 by Meta Publications.

Book Synopsis Writing and Being by : G. Lynn Nelson
Download or read book Writing and Being written by G. Lynn Nelson and published by New World Library. This book was released on 2004 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Writing is a doorway to our most creative, spiritual self. Writing and Being approaches writing at the source of the process and then, with guided personal writing, leads us outward to meaningful and authentic public writing. With powerful, practical step-by-step writing exercises and a plethora of examples, Writing and Being demonstrates that journaling is the most profound way that we can discover our authentic selves. But beyond mere diary writing, the new-found clarity through Nelson's journaling methods help us chart a path for a better future. Nelson begins by providing tips for the logistics of journal keeping, and includes suggestions for getting started. He then explores the entire writing processand explains the distinctions between private writing and public writing. By shedding light on the relationship between meditation and writing, he shows the value of being nonjudgmental and having "soft eyes" and a beginner's mind.Nelson also explains the biology behind the powerful experience of journaling by laying out recent discoveries of the human brain, and shows how journaling can heal psychological and spiritual wounds. Lastly, he shows how journaling is not only a voyage of self-discovery, but through expanding the private writing process can become a means of sharing one's life.
Book Synopsis Your Brain Is a Time Machine: The Neuroscience and Physics of Time by : Dean Buonomano
Download or read book Your Brain Is a Time Machine: The Neuroscience and Physics of Time written by Dean Buonomano and published by W. W. Norton & Company. This book was released on 2017-04-04 with total page 357 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Beautifully written, eloquently reasoned…Mr. Buonomano takes us off and running on an edifying scientific journey." —Carol Tavris, Wall Street Journal In Your Brain Is a Time Machine, leading neuroscientist Dean Buonomano embarks on an "immensely engaging" exploration of how time works inside the brain (Barbara Kiser, Nature). The human brain, he argues, is a complex system that not only tells time, but creates it; it constructs our sense of chronological movement and enables "mental time travel"—simulations of future and past events. These functions are essential not only to our daily lives but to the evolution of the human race: without the ability to anticipate the future, mankind would never have crafted tools or invented agriculture. This virtuosic work of popular science will lead you to a revelation as strange as it is true: your brain is, at its core, a time machine.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I'm falling. I've done that a lot this year. I've fallen for lies. Fallen in love. Now I'm falling through the water in the lake like I've done so often before, but this time is different. This time is going to be my last time. For everything. My last breath is rising in a rush of bubbles that hurry to the surface like champagne escaping a bottle. My last sight is the sun watching watery overhead. My last touch is the liquid running through my fingers like silk. Like time. Like every ethereal and untouchable thing in the world. Like laughter. And my last thought... my last thought is of him. Of Kyle. I'll miss him. I hope he'll miss me. It's a strange hope to have for the guy who just murdered me. They say that when you die, your brain stays active for seven minutes.
