This book was released on 2019-11-20 with total page 341 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since at least 1876, Britain’s policy toward Bulgaria had been derivative of her policy toward the Turkish Straits, and it continued to be so during the period from the conclusion of the Armistice of Salonika until the signature of the Treaty of Neuilly. British policy was the main factor in shaping the Treaty of Neuilly and therefore exercised an important influence on the simultaneously unfolding Bulgarian power struggle and on setting that country’s political agenda for years to come.

Book Synopsis The Paris Peace Conference of 1919 by : Laurence Badel
Download or read book The Paris Peace Conference of 1919 written by Laurence Badel and published by Berghahn Books. This book was released on 2024-12-01 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For more than a century, the Paris Peace Conference of 1919 has remained an object of historical scrutiny. As an attempt to consolidate peace in the wake of World War I and to prevent future conflict, it was instrumental in shaping political and social dynamics both nationally and internationally. Yet, in spite of its implications for global conflict, little consideration has been given to the way the Paris Peace Conference constructed a new global order. In this illuminating and geographically wide-ranging reassessment, The Paris Peace Conference of 1919 reconsiders how this watershed event, its diplomatic negotiations and the peace treaties themselves gave rise to new dynamics of global power and politics. In doing so it highlights the way in which the forces of nationality and imperiality interacted with, and were reshaped by, the peace.
Book Synopsis Contested Ethnic Identity by : Chris Kostov
Download or read book Contested Ethnic Identity written by Chris Kostov and published by Peter Lang. This book was released on 2010 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the twentieth century Macedonia had a very turbulent history. Essentially, the region became the apple of discord among the Balkan states. Ethnic identity formation among immigrants from Macedonia to Canada followed the political developments in the Balkans. This book illustrates the late emergence of an ethnic Macedonian community in Toronto and the roots of the clash between the Macedonian, Greek and Bulgarian ethnic communities. The author tackles a number of important questions: When did the Macedonian ethnic identity start in Canada? What was the ethnic affiliation of the first Macedonian immigrants' cultural organizations and churches in Toronto? Why did they use the Bulgarian language? Why do their first churches continue to be called Macedono-Bulgarian churches? Did all immigrants have one monolithic ethnic identity? The author relies upon three different types of literature: national identity development and theories; Balkan history; and ethnic studies of the Bulgarian, Macedonian and Greek settlements of Toronto. Oral interviews, conducted in Toronto by the author and other researchers, enhance this volume. The book sheds light on a much contested subject which continues to fuel debate from Skopje, Athens and Sofia to Toronto and Melbourne.--Publisher's description

Book Synopsis Live by the Sword by : James Rothrock
Download or read book Live by the Sword written by James Rothrock and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2011-10-12 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Live by the Sword portrays Israels struggle for existence in the Holy Land since becoming an independent Jewish state in 1948. Lieutenant Colonel James Rothrock draws on his military experience, travels in the Middle East, and academic background to present an authentic picture of the Jewish peoples quest for a home in Palestine, their fight for survival against multiple Arab invasions, the hundreds of indiscriminate terrorist attacks, and the ominous threats to their very existence today. Colonel Rothrock identifies the immediate threat to Israels survival as the Alliance of Terror, which consists of Iran and Syria and their terrorist surrogates, Hamas and Hezbollah. These purveyors of terror all have the common goal of destroying Israel. However, Rothrock warns that the greatest danger to Israels existence is Irans quest for nuclear weapons, coupled with the threats by Irans leaders to annihilate Israel. He makes a convincing argument that Irans nuclear ambitions are propelling the region toward a cataclysmic conflagration that could involve Israel, Iran, Arab states, and even major world powers. Colonel Rothrock is steadfast in his belief that the United States must stand resolutely with Israel and take action to forestall military or political events that could lead to the destruction of our only true ally in the Middle East.
