Book excerpt: We present a measurement of the absolute branching fraction for D° → K−? using the reconstruction of the decay chain {bar B} → D*+Xl−{bar {nu}}, D*+ → D°?+ where only the lepton and the low-momentum pion from the D*+ are detected. With data collected by the CLEO II detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we have determined Br(D° → K−?+) = [3.81 ± 0.15(stat.) ± 0.16(syst.)]%.

This book was released on 2011 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Using 1.3 fb-̂1 of data from p-pbar collisions at sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV collected with the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron, we have measured the relative branching ratio BR(B-̂ -> D0̂ K-̂)/BR(B-̂ -> D0̂ pi-̂) and its charge conjugate in the D0̂ flavor decay mode D0̂_f -> K-̂pi+̂ and the CP-even decay modes D0̂ -> K-̂K+̂ and D0̂ -> pi-̂pi+̂. From these measurements, we derive: R = (7.99 +- 0.33(stat.) +- 0.38(sys.)) %, R_{CP+} = 1.15 +- 0.17(stat.) +- 0.02(sys.), A_{CP+} = 0.10 +- 0.15(stat.) +- 0.02(sys.). These values are consistent with Standard Model expectations.

Download or read book Measurement of the Ratio of Branching Fractions B(D0 ---] K+ Pi- ) written by and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 7 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors present a measurement of R{sub B}, the ratio of the branching fraction for the rare decay D° → K?− to that for the Cabibbo-favored decay D° → K−?+. Charge conjugate decays are implicitly included. A signal of 2005 ± 104 events for the decay D° → K+?− is obtained using the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. The data set corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 0.35 fb−1 produced in {bar p}p collisions at √s = 1.96 TeV. Assuming no mixing, they find R{sub B} = [4.05 ± 0.21(stat) ± 0.11(syst)] x 10−3. This measurement is consistent with the world average, and comparable in accuracy with the best measurements from other experiments.

This book was released on 2007 with total page 183 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors present a measurement of B([pi]0 2!e+e-[gamma])/B([pi]0 2![gamma][gamma]) using data taken in 1999 by the E832 KTeV experiment at Fermilab. The [pi]0s were produced by KL decays in flight that are fully reconstructed. They find 63,693 KL 2!3[pi]0 2![gamma][gamma] [gamma][gamma] e+e-[gamma] decays in KTeV data (an increase of a factor of ~ 20 in event statistics over previous experiments), and normalize to KL 2!3[pi]0 2!6[gamma], to extract B([pi]0 2!e+e-[gamma], me+e-> 15 MeV/c2

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Analyzing D{sup 0} {yields} K{sup +}{pi}{sup -}{pi}{sup 0} decays, herein are presented the methods and results of a search for D{sup 0}-{bar D}{sup 0} mixing, a measurement of the branching ratio R {equivalent_to} {Lambda}(D{sup 0} {yields} K{sup +}{pi}{sup -}{pi}{sup 0})/{Lambda}(D{sup 0} {yields} K{sup -}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup 0}), and measurements of the contributions from D{sup 0} {yields} K{sup +}{rho}{sup -}, K*{sup +}{pi}{sup -}, K*{sup 0}{pi}{sup 0}; 230.4 fb{sup -1} of data collected from the BABAR detector at the PEP-II collider during 2000-2004 (Runs 1-4) are analyzed. An event-level tagging technique is developed, which facilitates the accurate determination of doubly Cabibbo-suppressed resonance contributions by suppressing background from Cabibbo-favored decays. The branching ratio is measured as R = (0.214 {+-} 0.008 (stat) {+-} 0.008 (syst))%, with (46.1 {+-} 3.3 (stat) {+-} 2.9 (syst))% of D{sup 0} {yields} K{sup +}{pi}{sup -}{pi}{sup 0} decays proceeding through the channel D{sup 0} {yields} K*{sup +}{pi}{sup -}. The data are consistent with the null-D-mixing hypothesis at a confidence level of 10%, and the expected value of {+-} {radical}(x{sup 2} + y{sup 2}) is measured as -0.013 {+-} 0.010 (stat), indicating negative interference between mixing and doubly Cabibbo-suppressed decay. The expected value of the integrated mixing rate is (x{sup 2} + y{sup 2})/2 = (0.013 {+-} 0.013 (stat))%.

This book was released on 2003 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We present a measurement of D[sup 0]-[bar D][sup 0] mixing parameters using the ratios of lifetimes extracted from samples of D[sup 0] mesons decaying to K[sup -][pi][sup+], K[sup -]K[sup+], and[pi][sup -][pi][sup+]. Using 91 fb[sup -1] of data collected by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B Factory, we obtain a value Y= (0.8[+-] 0.4(stat.)[sub -0.4][sup+0.5](syst.))%, which, in the limit of CP conservation, corresponds to the mixing parameter y=[Delta][Lambda]/2[Lambda]. Using the difference in lifetimes of D[sup 0] and[bar D][sup 0] mesons, we obtain the CP-violation parameter[Delta][Lambda]= ( -0.8[+-] 0.6(stat.)[+-] 0.2(syst.))%.

Book excerpt: Using 226 million?(4S) → B{bar B} events collected with the BABAR detector at the PEp-II ee− storage ring at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center, they measure the branching fraction for B° → {bar D}°K+?−, excluding B° → D*−K+, to be?(B° → {bar D}°K+?−) = 88 ± 15 ± 9 x 10−6. They observe B° → {bar D}°K*(892)° and B° → D*2(2460)−K+ contributions. The ratio of branching fractions?(B° → D*− K+)/?(B° → D*−?+) = (7.76 ± 0.34 ± 0.29)% is measured separately. The branching fraction for the suppressed mode B° → D°K+?− is?(B° → D°K+?−)

Download or read book Measurement of the K+ --] Pi+ Nu Nu Branching Ratio written by and published by . This book was released on 2008 with total page 40 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Experiment E949 at Brookhaven National Laboratory studied the rare decay K-->pi nu{ovr {nu}} and other processes with an exposure of 1.77 x 1012 k+'s. The data were analyzed using a blind analysis technique yielding one candidate event with an estimated background of 0.30 ± 0.03 events. Combining this result with the observation of two candidate events by the predecessor experiment E787 gave the branching ratio B(K+-->pi+ nu{ovr {nu}}) = (1.47{sub -0.89}{sup +1.30}) x 10−1°, consistent with the standard model prediction of (0.74 ± 0.20) x 10−1°. This is a more detailed report of results previously published [V.V. Anisimovsky et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 93, 031801 (2004)].
