Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book contains ten circular walks which vary in distance from 3 miles to 5 miles. The layout explains where to start and park, the type of terrain and what O.S. map to use along with a compass just in case the smartphone or G.P.S fail to work? The countryside is spectacular with views down river estuaries, out to Dartmoor and tranquil secluded spots hidden even from the motor car. The added bonus is that there is a pub some place along the route to give you a cool drink and refreshments. A lot of the pubs are also dog friendly so in the winter they can sit down by the log fire, the only problem is getting them back out on the road. Some of the pubs are very old so it is worth looking back on there history even has far back as the Knights Templar. Set out on the road and take your time to enjoy all the scenery but beware in Devon some of the hills are steep. Check out Denbury with the Iron Hill Fort, Luton, Combeinteignhead, Hennock and North Bovey just to mention a few. Happy Walking.

Book excerpt: Finally, at last the long awaited sequel to Meandering Pub Walks in Devon the great best seller throughout 2014/2015. This new book also contains ten interesting walks with a blend of very good pubs with their individual style of food, fine ale, cider and good wines. There are the usual ten circular walks all easy to follow with a starting point, type of map and refreshment at their best. To help to get you to the right area again I have included the post code for the Sat Nav; of the pub. Take note of the terrain and type of walk in three different categories easy, moderate or strenuous. The Inns have been selected for good food, ale and the cost to fit nicely in with very good walks. All the walks are length wise between 2 and 5 miles and some of the photos can be seen on You Tube showing the magnificent countryside. Please do not park in the pub car park without receiving the permission of the landlord. The post code can help to find the areas which can be difficult to track down nestling in wild hidden valleys way off the beaten track. In most of the Inns well behaved dogs are very welcome, this is pleasing for dog walkers and it keeps man's best friend also very happy with a drink and the odd snack after a long walk. We are very lucky in Devon the whole area is very beautiful with many places for dogs to walk and run free. I have tried to keep the stile count down but they are mostly dog friendly. Please always remember the water bottles and dog bowls for a well-earned drink after a great day out in the country.

Book excerpt: This book contains 11 circular walks with easy instructions to follow along walks of 2 miles to 5.5 miles with extra text to advise on terrain and how to access to the start. The countryside is beautiful and the walks all have something different to offer along the way. The views can be quite spectacular and to have a Tea Room along the way is nice to relax and enjoy a Devonshire Cream Tea. There are open fields, river paths, meadows, woodlands and even small hamlets with there old thatched cottages reserved only for the chocolate boxes. It is great to get out in the country and see lots of things you would not see from the car and for the family there is the added bonus of a Tea Room somewhere along the way. Always make sure you have a paper O.S. map and compass before setting out on your walk, never just trust your G.P.S. or Smartphone these may not work in your area for one reason or another. Also make sure your footwear is right for the terrain you are walking on, walking boots are best to prevent wet and muddy feet along some sections and also give added ankle support over uneven terrain. Happy Walking.

This book was released on 2016-01-01 with total page 42 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book was written to help walkers take your dog out to an area that they just might like to go for a change. It contains ten easy to follow walks all of which are circular and varying in distance from 1.5 miles up to 5.5 miles, so this is anything from a quick stroll or onto something just a bit more testing for you not the dog? The dogs are usually easily pleased with a good run, maybe a few sticks and an area with plenty of sniffs the job is very often done. But we walkers are more demanding we like good views, possibly refreshments along the way with an easy to follow trail with few obstacles nearby. The walks are all varied from forest, open fields, green lanes, bridleways and quiet country lanes. Most of these walks dogs are able to come off leads and get that extra bit of exercise that they all require. But unfortunately there are some walks where freedom is not so readily available, this could be due to a road or may be livestock in the fields but for whatever reason please be wise to the Country Code. Remember a dog will ways get excited when you reach and pick-up the lead and they never mind if it is a walk around the block or a route march over the hills. So make the ten circular walks provide a special day out for you and Man's Best Friend out and about together. Treat the dog walks as a stress relieving exercise because 5 minutes out and about you are totally relaxed, which is then transmitted to the dog. This takes you out into different parts of the countryside and maybe you would like to take a picnic just to make the day last a bit longer. Oh do not forget the ball, or the dog towel sure to be water and that means yes it is time to swim (unless you are a Standard Poodle of course). We are very lucky in Devon the whole area is very beautiful with many places for dogs to walk and run free, I have tried to keep the stile count down but they are mostly dog friendly. Please always remember the water bottles and dog bowls for a well-earned drink after a great day out in the country. The walks are different distances so if you have an older dog then take them out on the shorter routes, this makes them feel part of the excitement and fun of a special day for any dog. Happy Walking.

Book excerpt: The Meandering Moor, Countryside and Coast in Devon book covers Haytor, Dartmoor and coastal regions like Brixham along with magnificent areas like Buckland Abbey near Plymouth. There is history abound and the views in this part of the U.K must be seen to be believed. There are several different types of walks from the wildness of the moors to the tranquil silence of the countryside which is in complete contrast to the coast with its hustle and bustle of modern living. All the walks however have one common theme and that is spectacular views. This Meandering Walking Series Book turned out to be one of the most interesting collection of ten circular walks I have undertaken over several years with the diverse change in terrain and the magnificent patchwork and texture displayed by the countryside giving vivid colours which make it stand out like a miniature railway set. The moors are also very special they can be bleak, cold and not very welcoming but then in minutes the weather will change, and it is warm and comforting. Choose your days for different walks and try them not once but several times to enjoy the seasons in all their glory.

Book excerpt: Meandering in Mid Devon contains ten circular walks throughout a mostly rural area. The countryside is alive with wildlife and a magnificent tapestry of multi coloured fields which can be observed from high up in the hills overlooking the Devon Valleys this then fits together like a giant jigsaw puzzle which looks from above like a model village. Then in-between the patchwork quilt effect of the fields are the outlines of the rivers twisting and turning through the valleys sparkling and gleaming in the sunlight. Then as you walk on you encounter charming little villages and hamlets that have beautiful thatched cottages the type you find on the chocolate boxes. The areas of some of these walks can be rough and uneven and on certain sections very muddy, this will be noted in the text which should be checked before leaving home. To stay safe wear the correct footwear for example walking boots will keep the feet dry and give added support to prevent damage to ankles on the uneven ground. Before setting out on your walk make sure you have the correct O.S map and compass with you and maybe advise somebody where you are going and when you are back? Once out then please observe the Country Code, if you take a picnic make sure all the rubbish goes back home. Most important if you have a dog then keep well under control especially in the spring during lambing season, and watch out for the birds nesting low to the ground, a lot of these walks the dog can run free and have as much fun as everybody else in the group. Happy Walking.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains ten circular walks between the distances of 1.5 miles to 5.5 miles, each of the chapters as an easy to follow format, where to start and places or things to lookout for along the way. The chapters each covers something from history, a mystery or legend which in some cases can be extremely interesting. The terrain on the walks varies considerably from open fields, green lanes, woodland, country lanes or open moorland. So with this in mind be sure to dress sensibly with warm wet proof/cold resistant clothing, for example temperatures on the moors can be 5 degrees lower than the mainland. Most important make sure you wear good footwear, ideally walking boots to keep feet dry give good support for the feet and ankles on very uneven ground. Please whenever you are out and about make sure you follow the Countryside Code, gates are normally shut by the farmers to keep farm animals in, sometimes they may be left open so animals can reach food or water. So be sure to leave gates as you find them or follow instructions on any signs on the gate. On some of these walks with historical places be careful not to disturb ruins or historical sites because our heritage is for the future not just for the past.

Book excerpt: Inspired by George Orwell, Paul Moody and Robin Turner take a nostalgic road trip around Britain in search of the perfect pub. 'A deeply satisfying travelogue' Stuart Maconie In 1946, George Orwell, a man fond of a pint, wrote about his favourite pub, The Moon Under Water, in his EVENING STANDARD column. But it didn't actually exist. It was Orwell's vision of a perfect pub. Today, Wetherspoons have fourteen Moon Under Waters, and the nation is awash with identikit, high-street lounge bars competing for a dwindling clientele. Paul Moody and Robin Turner's road trip around Britain, therefore, is not just a search for the perfect pub. It is a deeper investigation into what has happened to British pub culture, once the toast of the world. In fact, it is a search for a kind of life-force kindled by the British public, something the powers-that-be are forever trying to extinguish. Along the way, such luminaries as Pete Brown ('the King of Beer'), Tim Martin (Wetherspoon's boss), Iain Sinclair, James Dean Bradfield and Paul Kingsnorth are consulted - along with a host of micro-brewers, landlords, politicians, bloggers and barroom philosophers. What emerges is a picture of the country as seen through a pint glass, a vision that goes to the heart of what it means to be British.
