Book Synopsis Undergraduate Research at Community Colleges by : Nancy H. Hensel
Download or read book Undergraduate Research at Community Colleges written by Nancy H. Hensel and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2023-07-03 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Co-published with the Council on Undergraduate ResearchThis book highlights the exciting work of two-year colleges to prepare students for their future careers through engagement in undergraduate research. It emerged from work in five community college systems thanks to two National Science Foundation grants the Council for Undergraduate Research received to support community colleges’ efforts to establish undergraduate research programs. Chapters one, two, and three provide background information about community colleges, undergraduate research, and the systems the author worked with: California, City University of New York, Maricopa Community College District - Arizona, Oklahoma, and Tennessee. Chapter four examines success strategies. The next five chapters look at five approaches to undergraduate research: basic/applied, course-based, community-based, interdisciplinary, and partnership research. Chapters ten, eleven and twelve discuss ways to assess and evaluate undergraduate research experiences, inclusive pedagogy, and ways to advance undergraduate research.Today there are 942 public community colleges in the United States, providing affordable access to 6.8 million students who enrolled for credit in one of the public two-year institutions in the United States. Students are more prepared for the next step in their education or careers after participating in quality UR experiences.

Download or read book DSP First written by James H. McClellan and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For introductory courses (freshman and sophomore courses) in Digital Signal Processing and Signals and Systems. Text may be used before the student has taken a course in circuits. DSP First and it's accompanying digital assets are the result of more than 20 years of work that originated from, and was guided by, the premise that signal processing is the best starting point for the study of electrical and computer engineering. The "DSP First" approach introduces the use of mathematics as the language for thinking about engineering problems, lays the groundwork for subsequent courses, and gives students hands-on experiences with MATLAB. The Second Edition features three new chapters on the Fourier Series, Discrete-Time Fourier Transform, and the The Discrete Fourier Transform as well as updated labs, visual demos, an update to the existing chapters, and hundreds of new homework problems and solutions.

Book Synopsis Statistical Confidentiality by : George T. Duncan
Download or read book Statistical Confidentiality written by George T. Duncan and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-03-22 with total page 205 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Because statistical confidentiality embraces the responsibility for both protecting data and ensuring its beneficial use for statistical purposes, those working with personal and proprietary data can benefit from the principles and practices this book presents. Researchers can understand why an agency holding statistical data does not respond well to the demand, “Just give me the data; I’m only going to do good things with it.” Statisticians can incorporate the requirements of statistical confidentiality into their methodologies for data collection and analysis. Data stewards, caught between those eager for data and those who worry about confidentiality, can use the tools of statistical confidentiality toward satisfying both groups. The eight chapters lay out the dilemma of data stewardship organizations (such as statistical agencies) in resolving the tension between protecting data from snoopers while providing data to legitimate users, explain disclosure risk and explore the types of attack that a data snooper might mount, present the methods of disclosure risk assessment, give techniques for statistical disclosure limitation of both tabular data and microdata, identify measures of the impact of disclosure limitation on data utility, provide restricted access methods as administrative procedures for disclosure control, and finally explore the future of statistical confidentiality.

Download or read book Mathematics written by Yannis Viniotis and published by . This book was released on 2013-08 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book puts together mathematical concepts and techniques for applications in electrical and computer engineering. The presented concepts are sine qua non1 in both describing and understanding electrical signals and their properties. The emphasis is placed on how a concept or technique is applied to an electrical engineering system, not on mathematical rigor. As a result, (most of) the existence/uniqueness questions that a typical mathematical textbook would raise and address are bypassed in this textbook.
