Book Synopsis Mathematical Finance. Theory by : Silvia Romagnoli
Download or read book Mathematical Finance. Theory written by Silvia Romagnoli and published by Società Editrice Esculapio. This book was released on 2019-08-01 with total page 422 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of these two books is to provide the basic theoretical concepts and the best practice concerning the mathematical finance which is unescapable to understand the way modern financial markets operate. Thanks to these fundamental concepts, which are completely concentrated on a deterministic modelization of the markets, students are ready to approach more advanced courses focused on the modern area of financial math where the deterministic assumption is left and stochastic assumptions concerning the evolution of the involved variables are included.

Book Synopsis Algebraic Geometry between Tradition and Future by : Gilberto Bini
Download or read book Algebraic Geometry between Tradition and Future written by Gilberto Bini and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-05-05 with total page 371 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An incredible season for algebraic geometry flourished in Italy between 1860, when Luigi Cremona was assigned the chair of Geometria Superiore in Bologna, and 1959, when Francesco Severi published the last volume of the treatise on algebraic systems over a surface and an algebraic variety. This century-long season has had a prominent influence on the evolution of complex algebraic geometry - both at the national and international levels - and still inspires modern research in the area. "Algebraic geometry in Italy between tradition and future" is a collection of contributions aiming at presenting some of these powerful ideas and their connection to contemporary and, if possible, future developments, such as Cremonian transformations, birational classification of high-dimensional varieties starting from Gino Fano, the life and works of Guido Castelnuovo, Francesco Severi's mathematical library, etc. The presentation is enriched by the viewpoint of various researchers of the history of mathematics, who describe the cultural milieu and tell about the bios of some of the most famous mathematicians of those times.
Book Synopsis From Classical to Modern Algebraic Geometry by : Gianfranco Casnati
Download or read book From Classical to Modern Algebraic Geometry written by Gianfranco Casnati and published by Birkhäuser. This book was released on 2017-04-20 with total page 760 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book commemorates the 150th birthday of Corrado Segre, one of the founders of the Italian School of Algebraic Geometry and a crucial figure in the history of Algebraic Geometry. It is the outcome of a conference held in Turin, Italy. One of the book's most unique features is the inclusion of a previously unpublished manuscript by Corrado Segre, together with a scientific commentary. Representing a prelude to Segre's seminal 1894 contribution on the theory of algebraic curves, this manuscript and other important archival sources included in the essays shed new light on the eminent role he played at the international level. Including both survey articles and original research papers, the book is divided into three parts: section one focuses on the implications of Segre's work in a historic light, while section two presents new results in his field, namely Algebraic Geometry. The third part features Segre's unpublished notebook: Sulla Geometria Sugli Enti Algebrici Semplicemente Infiniti (1890-1891). This volume will appeal to scholars in the History of Mathematics, as well as to researchers in the current subfields of Algebraic Geometry.
Book Synopsis Modelling for Financial Decisions by : Jaap Spronk
Download or read book Modelling for Financial Decisions written by Jaap Spronk and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is mainly focused on the development of tools for decision-makers in finance, ranging from treasurers of firms to professional investors and bank managers. It presents a broad variety of applications using techniques and methodologies from various fields such as econometrics, operations research and financial mathematics. The tools for decision-making have been modified towards financial decision support systems. The role of the decision-maker has become dominant, both in the development and in the use of the decision support systems. The developments in both the computer hardware and software for computers simplify the design of individualized decision support systems. Financial modelling functions as a liason between theoretical financial expertise and practice.

Book Synopsis The International Commission on Mathematical Instruction, 1908-2008: People, Events, and Challenges in Mathematics Education by : Fulvia Furinghetti
Download or read book The International Commission on Mathematical Instruction, 1908-2008: People, Events, and Challenges in Mathematics Education written by Fulvia Furinghetti and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-01-30 with total page 754 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book presents the history of ICMI trough a prosopographical approach. In other words, it pays a lot of attention to the actors of the International movement. The portraits of the members of the ICMI Central Committees (1908-1936) and ICMI Executive Committees (1952-2008), and other eminent figures in ICMI history, who have passed away in the first 100 years of its life, are the guiding thread of the volume. Each portrait includes: · Biographical information · An outline of the various contributions made by the individual in question to the study of problems pertaining to mathematics teaching/education · Primary bibliography · Secondary with particular attention to the publications concerning the teaching of mathematics · Images: photos, book frontispieces, relevant manuscripts The authors of the portraits (30 altogether) are researchers in the history of mathematics, mathematics, and mathematics education. The focus on the officer’s role within ICMI and on his/her contributions to mathematics education, make the portraits different from usual biographies. In particular, since most officers were active mathematicians, the portraits shed light on aspects of their lesser-known activity. Connecting chapters place the action of these figures in the historical context and in the different phases of ICMI history.
Download or read book Peano written by H. Kennedy and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All students of mathematics know of Peano's postulates for the natural numbers and his famous space-filling curve, yet their knowledge often stops there. Part of the reason is that there has not until now been a full-scale study of his life and works. This must surely be surprising, when one realizes the length of his academic career (over 50 years) and the extent of his publica tions (over 200) in a wide variety of fields, many of which had immediate and long-term effects on the development of modern mathematics. A study of his life seems long overdue. It appeared to me that the most likely person to write a biography of Peano would be his devoted disciple Ugo Cassina, with whom I studied at the University of Milan in 1957-58. I wrote to Professor Cassina on 29 October, 1963, inquiring if he planned to write the biography, and I offered him my assistance, since I hoped to return to Italy for a year. He replied on 28 November, 1963, suggesting that we collaborate, meaning by this that I would write the biography, in English, using his material and advice. I gladly agreed to this suggestion, but work on the project had hardly begun when Professor Cassina died unexpectedly on 5 October, 1964. I then decided to continue the project on my own. I spent the academic year 1966-67 in Turin; completion of the book took ten years.

Book Synopsis Semi-Markov Risk Models for Finance, Insurance and Reliability by : Jacques Janssen
Download or read book Semi-Markov Risk Models for Finance, Insurance and Reliability written by Jacques Janssen and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-05-15 with total page 441 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Everyone working in related fields from applied mathematicians to statisticians to actuaries and operations researchers will find this a brilliantly useful practical text. The book presents applications of semi-Markov processes in finance, insurance and reliability, using real-life problems as examples. After a presentation of the main probabilistic tools necessary for understanding of the book, the authors show how to apply semi-Markov processes in finance, starting from the axiomatic definition and continuing eventually to the most advanced financial tools.
