Download or read book Marine Therapy written by Jose A. Soto and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2008-12 with total page 122 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The breeze, the waves, the sand, the salty waters...Marine Therapy always has been around us. The Romans adored Neptune as the god of the seas, and Rene Quinton, a French researcher, described the healing properties of seawater. Ocean water benefits are used today as a new modality of treatments in spas, salons, and medical clinics using integrative medicine around the world. Dr. Soto reveals to us, in very simple words, the secrets of the healing seas and ways to better understand the uses of ocean water as a cosmetic and therapeutic solution. Because we are the ocean, the book starts with a historical review of our human connections with the sea. The pages are beautifully illustrated with images of monuments, historical art pieces, manuscripts, beaches, and portions of the world's best literature revering the the ocean as "the amniotic fluid of mankind." Dr. Soto not only narrates with vivid passion his discoveries about all the potential and present uses of seawater, but he also gives us unique pictorial evidence, including photographs never published before. While sailing through the pages, you will find unique methods of how to improve your skin with miraculous drops of Sea-Mar 100% purified ocean water. The easy-to-read text is an invaluable tool for those in the spa industry and the medical profession. The book closes with a useful contact list of centers around the world offering Thalassotherapy (marine therapy using seawater). It is an excellent text that may last for generations and a key to open the doors to new discoveries. This book explains why you should "ocean your skin." Just sea it.
Book Synopsis Marine Pollution by : Sebastian A. Gerlach
Download or read book Marine Pollution written by Sebastian A. Gerlach and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When, in 1966, the Gennan Research Society directed the attention of oceanographers in the Federal Republic of Ger many to problems of marine pollution, I was not enthusiastic. Emphasis on this problem area meant that other important research plans had to be postponed. But the lectures at the Third International Oceanographic Congress, September 1970, in Tokyo, and at the FAO Conference on Marine Pollution and its Effects on Living Resources and Fishing, December 1970, in Rome, convinced me that research on problems of marine pollution is a social obligation, and that the oceanographer has to take a stand. I issued public warnings about the continuing use of pesticides and had to defend myself against protests by the fishing industry and many colleagues who were, in Novem ber 1970, unaware of the extent of the threat. Thus, I was required by my profession to acquire an overview of the prob lems of ocean pollution. In 1971 I only needed to familiarize myself with some one hundred bibliographical items. In the interim, the flood of data has risen dramatically, and in the year 1975, no fewer than 868 publications under the heading of "Marine Pollution" were reported (Table 1). It is, therefore, more and more diffi cult to distinguish new results of scientific research from the many repetitions and variations, and I fear that from year to year my efforts to illustrate the actual status of the problem at a given moment will be subject to more gaps.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A primer on the Family Constellations philosophy and its core principles that will inspire and empower readers to take ownership of their lives. Family Constellations begins with the premise: it did not start with me. Many of us become "entangled" with the unhappiness of those who came before us, unconsciously adopting destructive familial patterns of anxiety, depression, failure, and even illness and addiction in an attempt to "redo" the past and "fix" our families. Affirmations and exercises punctuate every chapter, created to help the reader actively engage with and experience the benefits of Family Constellations. Readers will also learn how to: Recognize family system patterns and disrupt them Heal the inner child and parent the adult self Release limiting beliefs and behaviors Dissolve trauma bonds that entangle them with the past Reconcile the past and the present, for a whole and integrated self Arrive at a place of personal peace within the family system Craft future-facing narratives that empower them to live authentically

Download or read book Marine Microbiology written by Colin Munn and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2019-11-26 with total page 437 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The third edition of this bestselling text has been rigorously updated to reflect major new discoveries and concepts since 2011, especially progress due to extensive application of high-throughput sequencing, single cell genomics and analysis of large datasets. Significant advances in understanding the diversity and evolution of bacteria, archaea, fungi, protists, and viruses are discussed and their importance in marine processes is explored in detail. Now in full colour throughout, all chapters have been significantly expanded, with many new diagrams, illustrations and boxes to aid students’ interest and understanding. Novel pedagogy is designed to encourage students to explore current high-profile research topics. Examples include the impacts of rising CO2 levels on microbial community structure and ocean processes, interactions of microbes with plastic pollution, symbiotic interactions, and emerging diseases of marine life. This is the only textbook addressing such a broad range of topics in the specific area of marine microbiology, now a core topic within broader Marine Science degrees. A Companion Website provides additional online resources for instructors and students, including a summary of key concepts and terminology for each chapter, links to further resources, and flashcards to aid self-assessment.

Book Synopsis Marine Microbiology by : Se-Kwon Kim
Download or read book Marine Microbiology written by Se-Kwon Kim and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-06-21 with total page 558 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Deliberately breaking with the classical biology-centered description of marine organisms and their products, this reference emphasizes microbial technology over basic biology, setting it apart from its predecessors. As such, it systematically covers the technology behind high-value compounds for use as pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals or cosmetics, from prospecting to production issues. Following a definition of the field, the book goes on to address all industrially important aspects of marine microbial biotechnology. The first main part contains a description of the major production organisms, from archaebacteria to cyanobacteria to algae and symbionts, including their genetic engineering. The remaining four parts look at commercially important compounds produced by these microorganisms together with their applications. Throughout, the emphasis is on technological considerations, and the future potential of these organisms or compound classes is discussed. A valuable and forward-looking resource for innovative biotechnologists in industry as well as in academia.
