Book excerpt: Esta monografía presenta una investigación en Educación Matemática que se centra en la caracterización de las concepciones y creencias de los profesores de Educación Secundaria Obligatoria relativas a la enseñanza, al aprendizaje y a la evaluación en matemáticas. Se ha desarrollado durante el proceso de implantación de la nueva etapa de Educación Secundaria Obligatoria en Andalucía y ha recogido las concepciones y creencias que el profesorado ha explicitado como consecuencia de dicha reforma. La investigación utiliza la técnica de encuesta, cuyos instrumentos van a ser dos cuestionarios. Uno de los cuestionarios estudia las concepciones y creencias de los profesores sobre enseñanza y aprendizaje de las matemáticas y el otro las concepciones y creencias sobre la evaluación. Gran parte del trabajo de indagación ha consistido en establecer y validar un procedimiento para seleccionar las cuestiones que intervienen en los cuestionarios, de manera que reflejen los conceptos e ideas principales sobre los que se asienta el conocimiento de los profesores y permitan recoger sus juicios y valoraciones sobre esas ideas. Entendemos que este estudio aporta una metadología original para elaborar cuestionarios sobre concepciones y creencias, que conjuga la reflexión teórica y analítica con una contribución empírica e inductiva. Los dos instrumentos tienen formato de escala de valoración tipo Likert. Se aplican estos cuestionarios para recoger información de 163 profesores de matemáticas que van a comenzar a impartir la ESO. A partir de un estudio descriptivo de las respuestas se establece el estado de opinión general de los profesores de secundaria y el grado de aceptación de cada uno de los enunciados. Mediante el análisis factorial de las respuestas se determina la concepción general que sustentan los profesores sobre enseñanza y aprendizaje y sobre evaluación, así como sus creencias particulares sobre cada uno de estos tópicos. Varios análisis clúster permiten detectar tendencias de pensamiento en las que se concretan creencias específicas sobre enseñanza-aprendizaje y evalucación en matemáticas en grupos particulares de profesores y, finalmente, se relacionan dichas tendencias de pensamiento.
