Book Synopsis Harnessing Farms and Forests in the Low-carbon Economy by : Zach Willey
Download or read book Harnessing Farms and Forests in the Low-carbon Economy written by Zach Willey and published by Duke University Press. This book was released on 2007 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the United States moves to a low-carbon economy in order to combat global warming, credits for reducing carbon dioxide emissions will increasingly become a commodity that is bought and sold on the open market. Farmers and other landowners can benefit from this new economy by conducting land management practices that help sequester carbon dioxide, creating credits they can sell to industry to "offset" industrial emissions of greenhouse gases. This guide is the first comprehensive technical publication providing direction to landowners for sequestering carbon and information for traders and others who will need to verify the sequestration. It will provide invaluable direction to farmers, foresters, land managers, consultants, brokers, investors, regulators, and others interested in creating consistent, credible greenhouse gas offsets as a tradable commodity in the United States. The guide contains a non-technical section detailing methodologies for scoping of the costs and benefits of a proposed project, quantifying offsets of various sorts under a range of situations and conditions, and verifying and registering the offsets. The technical section provides specific information for quantifying, verifying, and regulating offsets from agricultural and forestry practices. Book Synopsis Liturgy for Living by : Charles P. Price
Download or read book Liturgy for Living written by Charles P. Price and published by Church Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2000-12-01 with total page 255 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A classic and accessible guide in the field of Episcopal liturgy. Originally published in 1979, Liturgy for Living remains a time-tested classic exploration of history, theology, and spirituality that shapes Anglican liturgy and specifically The Book of Common Prayer. Writing for all Episcopalians—pastors, seminarians, and laity—Professor Charles Price and Louise Weil uncover the riches of various liturgy, including Holy Baptism, Confirmation, the Daily Office, the Holy Eucharist, and the various pastoral offices. This edition contains an extensive and updated bibliography, a glossary of liturgical terms, and a list of internet website addresses that contain documents, further bibliographic information, and links to other websites—all related to liturgical studies. “The worship of the Christian community, properly understood and done, leads worshipers to act out in their lives the love of God, which is at the heart of our worship. Worship also provides the power and the sustenance which makes this style of living possible. This Christian style of living, moreover, drives those who are committed to it back to the worship of God, to find forgiveness and strength...When this interdependent relationship is understood, the power of worship is illuminated and the power to live increased.”—From the Preface

Book Synopsis The So-called Mixed Text by : Clinton S. Baldwin
Download or read book The So-called Mixed Text written by Clinton S. Baldwin and published by Studies in Biblical Literature. This book was released on 2011 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years, a number of scholars have identified a text-type in six of the books of the Catholic Epistles that they have called «mixed.» The So-Called Mixed Text: An Examination of the Non-Alexandrian and Non-Byzantine Text-Type in the Catholic Epistles is concerned with a comprehensive identification and evaluation of this so-called mixed text-type. This mixed category, if supported by empirical investigation to be more original than the Alexandrian and Byzantine texts, could necessitate the re-evaluation of these established text-types and also the re-evaluation of the designation «mixed» attributed to this group. In pursuit of this objective, Clinton S. Baldwin undertakes an in-depth study of this mixed phenomenon by studying 407 Greek manuscripts of the Catholic Epistles. Having identified 13 mixed groups across the Catholic Epistles, it is shown that the weighted value of this mixed category is negligible in terms of uncovering the earliest originals. Also of significance to this study is the use of factor analysis for the classification of New Testament Greek manuscripts. The reliability of factor analysis is demonstrated by another vital contribution of this study: the classification of the manuscripts of the Epistle of Jude, a book which hither-to-fore had not been comprehensively classified. Most of the manuscripts classified by factor analysis have later been confirmed by a modified form of the Claremont Profile Method. Finally, The So-Called Mixed Text demonstrates that the evolution of the New Testament text, which began in the earlier centuries, continued into the Middle Ages.

Book excerpt: A great tragedy is facing the remnant church, as the protectors of God's end-time truth have begun to waver on the teachings that brought them a new, powerful understanding of the Bible and prophecy.Pastor Stephen Bohr now uncovers the dangers lurking within the Sabbath-keeping church that seek to divide and conquer God's people, crippling their ability to faithfully share the last-day message with the world and driving them onward toward compromise and apostasy.Learn the methods that Satan is now using to call the faithful out of God's end-time church-methods that are already popular with churches compromising truth and peddling a soft gospel message that fail to truly transform lives for the heavenly kingdom. This mighty call-to-arms will cover you with truth and the armor of God, so you can stand true even against great peer pressure and opposition and be a bright beacon of light so that others will remain united under the powerful banner of the full and eternal gospel.
