Book Synopsis Energy and Human Resource Development in Developing Countries by : William Hickey
Download or read book Energy and Human Resource Development in Developing Countries written by William Hickey and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-12-14 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about engaging and empowering people through their own domestic resources, by using upstream energy to create larger downstream employment opportunities. Incorporating sustainability, resource enhancement, and energy responsibility can generate awareness and better utilization of the resources and reduce reliance on foreign aid and economic development programs, which reinforce a North/ South consumption-based economy rather than empower the localized population. The author proposes a new paradigm of employee development, localized engagement, and empowerment for resource-rich developing Asian countries, based on the utilization and upbraiding of their resources in-situ. Here scholars, policymakers, and investors will find that human resource development (HRD) can structure constructive change through criterion-based education and reap economic prosperity.

Book Synopsis The Economic Development of the Yemen Arab Republic (RLE Economy of Middle East) by : Ragaei el Mallakh

This book was released on 2014-10-30 with total page 213 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The recent economic development of the Yemen Arab Republic is in stark contrast to the centuries of isolation that had marked the country prior to the 1962 Revolution. When economic planning was instituted in the 1970s, the nation was confronted by the needs of reconstruction after years of conflict, and of development. A formidable task was faced in the need to establish basic infrastructure throughout a country with a widely dispersed population and with extremely rugged terrain. In addition, the economy has been characterized by the high percentage of the workforce attracted overseas as migrant workers. This book provides the first comprehensive study of the economic development of this under-studied nation. First published in 1986.

Book Synopsis Mobilizing Human Resources in the Arab World (RLE Economy of Middle East) by : R. Paul Shaw
Download or read book Mobilizing Human Resources in the Arab World (RLE Economy of Middle East) written by R. Paul Shaw and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2015-05-15 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: R. Paul Shaw has travelled widely in the Arab world, obtaining data and gathering impressions first-hand from national and local planners. In this book, he identifies population and manpower problems that are likely to become more serious and more difficult to solve if they are neglected at this early stage of Arab development. He focuses on five broad areas which are directly or indirectly related to mobilizing human resources, and his book will be of special interest to all those who are concerned with such issues as population, migration, employment, inequality, the emancipation of women, construction and agriculture. Dr Shaw proposes policy directives which are sensitive to the problems as they are seen by the Arab governments themselves, and sets out practical guidelines which can be used by Arab planners and policy-makers. An important feature of the book with respect to current literature on Arab development is that it moves away from a preoccupation with growth-related investments to a concentration on development-related population, manpower and employment issues. By bringing together such comprehensive empirical and bibliographic information, it will also be invaluable as a reference source for some twenty Arab countries. First published in 1983.

Book Synopsis Health Manpower Planning by : Frans C.A. Jaspers
Download or read book Health Manpower Planning written by Frans C.A. Jaspers and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In most European countries there is a growing imbalance between the supply and demand of medical manpower. Though many national gov ernments, international organizations and scientific institutes, and also, with a view from a different angle, doctors associations recognize this problem, it appears to be very difficult to bring all people concerned with this problem together in order to find a solution. On this occasion, the initiative to arrange an international meeting was taken by the junior-doctors associations of The Netherlands and Sweden with the organizational support of the Faculty of Medicine of University Limburg, Maastricht, The Netherlands, and under the auspices of the Permanent Working Group of European Junior Hospital Doctors. The symposium should be considered as a step in a series of continuing activities within the field of health manpower planning. The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) organized a working symposium on Long-Range Forecasting and Planning in 1968 (8ellaglio, Italy), followed by the Expert Committee ofthe OECD which produced the 'New Directives in Education for Changing Health Care System' (OECD CERI report, Paris 1975). The Dutch ministries of Education and Sciences and of Health and Environmental Protection organized a seminar on 'Cooperation of Health Care and Education at Regional Level, Responsibilities and Cost Alloca tion' (1978, Noordwijkerhout, The Netherlands). Following this, the Dutch Association of Junior Hospital Doctors (LVAG) organized a national con ference 'Today a consultant in training, tomorrow an unemployed special ist?' (1980, Utrecht, The Netherlands).
